Pretty much. I would be loathe to trade Yarran when he was one of the few in the side against Essendon that actually tried to win.

I'd say that Yarran has been putting a lot more effort into his game recently. He knows he has to work harder. I hope we don't trade him.

Like the idea of drafting Freeman for his burst speed. But I still think we need a more complete player.

Someone with football smarts, elite kick, above average to elite endurance, strength to break or stand in tackles and solid inside and outside game.

Probably asking for a bit much....but with pick eight or nine we should be able to find someone...

I won't purport to be an expert on who we should/shouldn't look at, and it goes without saying how crucial the next three months are for the CFC...

Saying that, I have faith that we can get it done. Our last trip to the draft netted Menz and Nicky G...not a bad day at the office, and seeing how we've strengthened our recruiting team in 2013, I have no doubt the kids we select will possess those qualities we lack that all us BF geniuses have so much fun wringing our hands and gnashing our teeth about...

Key things for us is to get some inside midfielders with leg speed and an ability to get the footy. Ability to go forward and kick goals is a bonus. Would be avoiding players below 190cm who don't get much of a run in the midfield and play predominantly on flanks and in pockets and players who are either purely outside or purely inside players (no one dimensional types). Players who put their body in and compete well should be high priority (No soft types). No poorly skilled types, players with poor hands and poor disposal need to be avoided.

Other key things I would think is using trades to obtain more 3rd round draft picks or better. Extra draft picks means we maybe we bring in extra young talent or maybe it means we take a punt on a key position player.

Our previous drafting history shows that we have drafted poorly in the national draft when it comes to picking up genuine talent. Murphy being our only top level midfielder picked up through this draft and Waite being our only decent key position player taken in the national draft (though he was a father son and it barely counts). We have had a tendency to draft kids who played most of their U18 footy on flanks, pockets and wings which basically means they have not been good enough to play midfield. Most of our national draft picks are playing on the flanks/pockets. Get our hands on some talented key players through the national draft and we might start making finals and being a decent side. Last years draft looks like the best we have drafted in a long time with Rogers taking Graham and Menzel. I'd just love to get a heap of picks in the first three rounds and see what Rogers and his crew can do.

If betts goes FA as rumoured where does the compensation pick lie
i.e end if first/second round or directly after our pick.

If we get a first or second for ed I can see us trading it out.

Wasn't his fault the club traded Josh Kennedy & Shaun Grigg.
But even more importantly it's not his fault the development of our players has been poor.

Yeah i guess but you can't not say he hasn't picked some absolute shockers.

the fact that we haven't had a rising star since 2010 proves we hadn't picked anyone with any quality what so ever.

I know you'll go with someone like a Paul Bower to illustrate this, but he was the AA CHB in that year.
Steven Browne showed enough at junior level to justify his selection. Just not sue what happened with him.

Lennon is supposely a great half-forward/back prospect but we need pure midfielders.
