Saw a small snippit in the Heraldsun yesterday saying that Geelong had an interview lined up with Dayle Garlett last week when they were in Perth. Their recruiting team and even Scott was there, and Garlett didn't even show up. Apparantly they just got told he "wasn't available".

You would think after what happend last year he would be doing everything right to get a chance, not missing interviews.

You have to question his dedication to become an AFL footballer.

could mean he has a guarantee from another team and they may have told him to reject all interviews.
its a long bow to draw I know.

Fair reason, this is the kind of reason I wanted to hear. Kid has talent. Had off field issues last year, looks like he is still a bit of a headcase.

wouldn't that be draft tampering?

How is that draft tampering? Happens in other pro sports with drafts all the time. Not sure if its a rule that you can't in the AFL, but its absolutely done in the NBA where players will cancel workouts if they're told by a team they'll select a certain player if they're around at a certain point.

I see nothing wrong with a team saying to a player 'if you're available at our first pick, then we will select you'. Still gives other teams the opportunity to select said player with an earlier pick.

.

well yer, say the Bulls are picking at 20 and they give the player a promise, he's going to cancel for teams 21 and after. Would still interview with 1-19 though.

Perhaps West Coast or Freo have said "we're going to take you with our first" ?

Doubt it though

I don't think first round either. They could definitely promise to take him by at least the third round or something though. That way he's guaranteed to get picked up and not need or want to interview anymore.

reading about Crouch. apparently he and his brother played a game in the backyard , where they'd place the footy in the middle of the yard, each take 10 steps back then CHAAAAARRRGGEEEE!!!

Love it
here's the link to that video on the TAC Cup future stars

Top 10-15 players look like real quality from what I can gather.
Would love to get a Luke Shuey clone who is ready to go in 2014.

I don't know, i'm finding it hard to get a grasp on this draft. Doesn't seem to be many absolute game changers in this draft. Seems to be plenty of workers or meat and potatoes, but a bit lacking in the champagne and caviar. Lucky for us we need some real hard workers i suppose, just hope whoever we get turns out to be quality.

Do we though?
I would have thought we needed the champagne and cavier types.
Robbo, Mclean, Curnow, Armfield, Tuohy and Cachia are the hard workers.
Only Gibbs, Murphy and Judd fall into the first catergory.

See what Harker wrote. That's exactly what i was thinking. Robbo, Curnow, Cachia i can't ever see being consistent ball winners and real reliable engine room players. Curnow can stop his guy, Robbo can throw around his weight a lot and be successful one week and then the next do more harm than good. Cachia i'm not sure has the overall ability to be a 10 year player. We need a player another step up in quality, yet with their strengths. A more complete version of those guys. Joel Selwood type. Clean hands, neat skills, tough as nails, and not a run with type player.
