The other 'explosive' tall
"Mentally, at the start, it was really annoying. I hate not being able to run," he told AFL.com.au during the draft combine at Etihad Stadium.

"But after I got over the little hump and started running again in early September, everything was fine."

"Back in the under-14s and under-15s I was a smaller player, out on the wing or in the forward pocket," he said.

"But I had a big growth spurt thought the under-16s and under-17s, and I've ended up playing as a tall forward."

"They all asked me how my leg was going. I showed them the x-rays and the doctor's report, and they all seemed to be happy with the way it's recovering."

If he learns to stick a tackle opinions on him will quickly change

Agreed, he's primed for a big year I think, his body will be matured and he started to believe he belonged late last year. If Lucas and Yarran can stop applying token Houlihan type tackles and start applying Carrazzo grim death type tackles they will be great players and will improve us dramatically.

Reading that and watching his highlights have bought him back into contention for our Pick #13 in my mind lol
I'll wait for Callum Twomey to give another 50-50 appraisal of the first round before having my final bandwagon.

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2013-11-08/live-chat-draft-preview
Callum Twomey: Visy, if the Blues get to their pick and McCarthy is still there I find it hard to see them going past him. In saying that, they may look for some more pace through the midfield, which could come in the form of Salem if he's there. Lennon also would be around the mark.
So we're considering everyone who could be drafted between picks 10 and 20.

That's why Callum Twominds get the big bucks.

Burgatron was better.

The AFL site might as well ask a monkey to do a phantom draft.

Have to admit, have only watched the highlights package and read some reviews - but Dunstan looks quite slow. Seems to lumber along, but very solid looking. Actually reminds me of Brocky in many way and looks no faster to my questionable eyes.

I've changed my mind a little. If we can't get Freeman or Crouch, I reckon bite the bullet with Acres. I don't know where I get this from, but I'm under the impression Mick has a thing about tall mids, so Acres might well be our pick, even though there's more 'project-mid' about him compared to the others in my list below.

So my (vaguely realistic) wishlist is now the following, in order of desirability:

Freeman
Crouch
Acres
Dunstan

Carlton ?

Tigers collect another top 12 pick...

B: Morris Rance Grimes
HB: Vlastuin Chaplin Houli
C: Deledio Martin Conca
HF: S.Edwards Riewoldt Acres
F: King Vickery A.Edwards
R: Maric Cotchin Foley

I/C: Jackson Ellis Newman Grigg

Fair squad.

Sheed would be a good fit if WC take Acres. Plug him in for Tuck. Though they might have a greater need for tall flanker/mid than another mid. You'd be happy to get an Andrew Walker with pick 12. Acres has similar athletic qualities as Walker who has played everywhere.

Hmmmmm...

Channel 10 just said that the only WA boy to be invited to be flown over to attend the draft is McCarthy. Usually only the top 10 invited. Looks like Sheed will be available at pick 11.

Just popping int to explain. :D The players are informed that a club will/most likely take them up just prior to the draft. I don't think they know THIS early though. As far as I'm aware, interviews are still being held.

Case in point, Jake Stringer last year originally wasn't going to make the trip up to the Gold Coast until the Dogs made it ridiculously clear to the AFL that they were going to select him with their first pick. So he was whisked up.

Carlton Acres/Dumont/Dunstan

Would be a shock if the Pies added McCarthy to Cloke, Reid, Brown, White and Keeffe. Arguably one quality forward prospect short on paper. May have traded up to get a better mid and the second best KPP.

I follow knightmeh's draft to think Bontempelli and Crouch are the bee's knees.
Knightmare actually doesnt rate Bontempelli all that highly, I happen to think he's pretty promising from elsewhere and the video ive seen. So its not just "oh knightmare said so"

And you still havent said who YOU would like to draft

Edit: Bontempelli has actually increased in his power rankings in the last update - he's at 5 now, wasnt that high before, Crouch down from top 3 to 9 though - that'll make you happy wont it

Ha ha ha ha ha ha...

knightmare picked Bontempelli in two phantom drafts.

Hope the professionals don't change their power rankings like knightmare.

I'm not picky as long as we get a good alround footballer.

A slider would be great.
