From what I've read the last couple of days I can see it going something like:

1. Boyd
2. Kelly
3. Billings
4. Aish
5. Kol
6. Scharenberg
7. McCarthy
8. McDonald
9. Freeman
10. Salem
11. Sheed
12. Lennon
13. Bontempelli/Dunstan/Acres/Taylor

And if let's say Botempelli goes before our pick, that means someone else that I named will drop. It just all depends on McCarthy going top 10 (preferably to Brisbane at 7).

So the way we can look at is that we will either end up with McCarthy or/ a nice slider at Pick #13.
Even if McCarthy doesn't go before our pick, if we want a midfielder we will take midfielder. McCarthy going before our pick just means we should get someone who was touted as top 10. There'll still be good mids even if he doesn't go. I know he's not the most trustworthy but Brett Anderson thinks we're pretty keen on Dunstan and Quayle thinks we like Freeman if he's there.

I like the look of McCarthy and it is time we started drafting some talls earlier in the draft, but with him being a mad Freo fan and WA boy I can't help but feel that with so many decent mids around our pick, we'd be better off picking up a Victorian lad and taking away the go home factor.

We're all waiting for the next source to influence our thinking...

Or we'll speculate and discuss in a manner befitting a discussion forum and get a definite answer in 7 days time. I hope we can hold on.

unfortunately its a risk we have to consider.... its why I see WCE taking only either Sheed or Acres.

My comment also refers to the person who posted Royal Eagle's rumour. :)

Unless we're a draft watcher and connected, we're all just speculating.

isn't that the fun of it all though?
to come up with different permutations on how it will all turn out, then you factor in variables like needs, best available and rumoured leaks which all either increase or decrease the probability of certain things happening.
I love this draft period with so many players around the same still level it really has everyone guessing.

rumours like Richmond wanting Jones and Lions being linked to Sheed or McCarthy which inturn screws with WCE potential pick, that's what makes it enjoyable

Even draft watchers are speculating. They just have more of an idea of whereabouts in the draft a player will go. I have no problem with people posting info from a variety of sources. I also have no problem with posters believing or disbelieving those sources. There will be definitive end to this speculation next Thursday and the speculation doesn't hurt the club. It does make people ponder, postulate, hypothesise and encourage others to do the same as a result. Win/Win.

That's the real trick to it as the draft rarely falls where one may have the players according to their own ratings.

1. Psychological evaluation
2. Go home factor
3. Scope for improvement
4. Referrals from coaches etc.
5. Culture fit
6. Needs fit
7. Draft Camp results etc etc

Many factors to consider before draft day. Best available isn't simply best available.

I like this the most. Heck, we get 4 players with our pick. Coooooooooollll!!!

....seriously, if thats our choices, and you havent included Couch in their either, then I'll go;

Bontempelli
Acres
Couch
Taylor
Dunstan

Why don't we just drop another letter and call him Ouch? :)

Dunstan or Bontempelli would be nice.................and if we select one of the others then that will be nice also.

how so, I haven't considered him because I largely assumed he would be gone before our pick
He's an awkward height (192 cms), he isn't overly quick and he's pretty soft.

.... aside from that all that though, he seems ok.

A few pre-seasons may change all of that though - and he could become a monster on-baller though which is kind of tempting.

Where are you hearing about Brett Anderson and Emma Quayle?

link?

I still think we should take McCarthy if he's there at Pick #13, but ultimately I wouldn't be unhappy with either of McCarthy, Freeman, Acres ... (I suppose I could live with either of Bontempelli/Dunstan also).

he's also a 'baby' with a November birthdate, growing into his body and on an upward curve with respect to his inside work.

Excuse me Sir, but just how many games have you actually seen him play?

I'm not bragging or anything ... BUT .... I've happened to have watched all 3 minutes of his highlights package on AFL.com AND I watched a Youtube video of a TAC kicking session with him :p

that's a tough assessment C4, he screams HBF if that's the case.
How is he athletically?
