LOL.

You'll jump on if Cripps appears in Emma Quayle's phantom draft or a tweet by Brett Anderson.

How's that different to you jumping on different prospects throughout the course of the season?

Stop attacking other posters for putting forward some different names 2 days out from the draft. Otherwise I'll stop it for you.

And FWIW Brett Anderson is the one sprouting the Cripps rumours. And it turns out I still don't want him.

Just waiting for EP to ask us what we think of...he is due for his quarterly post.

I'm at peace with the fact that we are going to welcome a good young kid to the fold and that's good enough for me...be it a solid citizen in the midfield rotation, man-child inside wrecking ball, or KPF talent who shock horror may just need a year or two in development.

I am actually more interested in who we take at 39. As zen as I am with our first selection I am hoping like hell that we call out Conlon at 39. His ability to mark the ball at its highest point combined with the the giant leap on him is something to behold...and his highlights would be as an under-ager yes?

Conlon hasn't played footy for over 18 months from what i've read, so he'd have been maybe 16 in the highlights i'd assume. The injuries really worry me, pick 51 at the very highest for mine.

I don't have any favourites. I want all of them. Been putting out names without having a designated man bar the unlikely sliders. ;)

Cripps is the different name that has been put forward two days out.

Don't see why it's fair to pre-empt the draft and attack our recruiting staff for picking Cripps.

See etsal1's posts on the draft board.

How did I attack our recruiting staff?
Is it not true that in past years we have picked based on need instead of best available? That's not an attack. That's just a statement of fact.

It's reality that our recruiting department is not perfect. And if you try to argue it is, then that's just delusional.

In fact I have said a number of times in recent days that I trust Rogers & co. My comment on the draft board was in reference to certain picks in 2011 and 2010.

How does saying I don't want Cripps @ 13 end up as me jumping on a bandwagon and potting our recruiting staff.

Conlon's injuries aren't terminal or anything though - shoulder, hip, knee. I'd be more concerned if he re-injured the same body part...

Either way, you can never have enough tall Camerons. We're in the frame at pick 13 (McCarthy) or pick 39 (Giles) or pick 51 (Conlon) or as a rookie (Darcy).

I'd agree on Conlon Subby...but we did take a guy with a LARS graft last year. All comes down to what the medicos think and a sprinkling of luck I suppose. Port Adelaide are better for taking a risk on Trengove a few years back.

IF anyone is interested, Snoop Dog has finalised his phantom...

Been a very hard draft to do because not many will go and there is a really even spread from 15 – 40.

For mine there are a number of selections which really shape this draft on its head and I reckon they are;

1. Bontempelli lands at the Dogs at # 4
2. If he does then Aish will go at # 6
3. If McCarthy doesn’t go #7 then Pies will take him
4. Sheed is the steal of the draft if he gets to # 11. If that kid doesn’t have the Selwood factor I am out!
5. Don’t rule out Pies taking McCarthy at #6 and throwing it all in a spin
6. Lobb – will Swans take him at # 15

Anyway here it is……the final version.
# 13 Carlton
Patrick Cripps - East Fremantle / 188cm / 88kg / ‘95
Wasn’t 100% sure re where to land Cripps and to be honest it wasn’t until his last champs game that I thought he is a genuine ‘A’ grader. WA were injury riddled and he had to step up into the middle against SA. They were given little chance and he pretty much single handedly kept them in it with his ball winning out of the centre. It’s not always clean and efficient but its always to advantage and in some ways he reminds me a bit of Travis Boak. He is just that bullocking midfielder who is terrific in close and gets it going your way. Can also get on the spread and damage you outside as well. He is a great size and he is good 1:1. His issue is he probably wont have tested as well as other mids so bit unsure where he lands. Bottom line is his best is very very good and he could surprise and go in the teens.

Why and who else: Would be desperate for McCarthy but think he will be at Lions or Pies. Lots of talk re Cripps and they wouldn’t have gone hometown for no reason. Big call to let Lennon and Taylor past but like I said I really like Cripps and he did some things that make me rate him high..
Don't see us passing on Lennon based on what I've read, but I'll back the club in after they have overhauled and boosted our recruiting department.

The correct answer is it's not different at all.

I think you may be confused over the word 'attack'. She wasn't attacking our recruiting staff. The only attack I see is your response to her which was completely out of line and over the top. You can't put forward name after name then attack another posted for putting forward a different name. To then complain about what you perceive to be fair or unfair is over the top.

Dont agree with snoops blanket of 15 -40. I think the blanket is 2 to 25. With another blanket 25 to rookie. It so even at the top end. So many pros and cons of players. I will be happy with most outcomes until perhaps 3-5 years down the track

Anyone think Snoop is putting Cripps at 13 because that's what certain journos are spreading at the moment?

Cant wait for Thursday night. Still hoping for a point of difference. MCcarthty, Bontemelli, Freeman. Wont be disappointed with the lower risk selection in Cripps, Dunstan and Sheed.

In your opinion.

Few had even considered Cripps or Dunstan prior to the last few days. Now Dunstan is suddenly a must have. This draft sounds more like the 2008 and 2009 drafts that were even. Futile to declare Dunstan or someone else a no brainer compared to Cripps.

Where has she put out a different name?

She has attacked our recruiting staff with their history of reaching. As if she'd know any more than MCB. This isn't constructive criticism based on knowing these players inside out. I know how she feels about Bootsma who was on the radar of other clubs.

Just looked at Cripps and I can't help but think that he'll be losing a few kilos over the pre-season and maybe even to an extent of next year, then gradually putting back on the mass in muscle bulk by the pre-season going into 2015.

You are a very informative poster. See the bolded, everyone has one. Don't have a go at her for having an opinion though, that's bizarre.
I mean, if the club passes on Cripps, was she right?

Is it true that Conlon hasn't even played a game for 18 months or was the article a lie? Sure he may be talented, but aren't we sick or drafting talls who either slid in the draft through injury (Mitchell), or were oft injured while playing for us? Prefer to have select someone in the ND that we know can get on the park ASAP and actually develop, rather than stick together with tape like a mummy.

Ben Brown.
