Sorry to intrude, but I think Lewis Taylor is perfect for you guys, a smaller Judd for me. Also while he's developing he can be a small forward for versatility. I'd love him at the doggies but he'll last to yours and is a great fit.

I think we are currently in the process of unravelling Ratten's list of short people.

Personally don't see us drafting Taylor.

Just my opinion.

Malthouse would prefer bigger, as in taller, midfielders around the contest.
I'm sure Taylor will be a handy player in the future, however I don't see our need for him.

The shortest player in our first choice midfield rotation is our captain. Go figure...

Height is more important than talent?
right, so you want the shortest player in our future midfield rotation to be 174cm?
What we're saying is just Mick wants bigger blokes around the middle of the ground.
Never said that height is more important than talent

If he's the best player, why not? Boomer Harvey has played over 350 games. Our game can cater to all shapes and sizes.

When your that height, you really have to have something pretty special about you to survive. Boomer is one, Daniel Kerr is the other. Not sure someone like Taylor really fits the Malthouse mould. Garlett on the other hand is someone I reckon Mick would love to take under his wing.

Maybe not but Chris25 has him going at our pick and compares him to Harvey and Prestia.

It seems as though supporters don't like the prospect of drafting such a small player in the first round, but they'll quickly change their opinion once he starts playing.

I'm not saying we should specifically draft Taylor but if we're after a quality midfielder, I think the argument that the kid would be excluded because of his height less than compelling if he's the best footballer.

(Personally I think we should select one of the few quality KPP in the draft with our first pick. The departures of Hampson, Mitchell and McCarthy leave a structural void)

At this very moment, he is not the best player in this draft. Only time will tell.
However, my point is like other posters, Taylor does not fit the mould of the player we've talked about all year.
If anything, we should go after ball magnets like Matt Crouch, who apparently has not had a game in the TAC Cup with less than 30 possessions, since we've been down on our possession count against opposition sides this year.

Lucas and Bootsma on trade table two flakey players first round selections and I guess the current incumbants in the recruiting department will get sacked. Can only hope.

There is a difference between being on the trade table and being the basis of inquiries from other clubs.

They should not be on the trade table(and they are on the trade table) they are first round selection and future of the club, or were the future. Mick and Macca are doing the right thing. make no mistake - hopefully we get something decent from Freo but as it stands no club is interested could change quickly though.

Where has it been said that we are actively offering them to clubs?

At that size you have to have attributes that clearly put him above other players available at that point of the draft. Also, what attributes the club is looking for may differ from that. Just think a smaller mid won't be what we're looking for. The 6 foot + type should be on our radar.

It's common knowledge now and all over the papers today.
Can't believe everything they say in the papers mate.
Clubs have enquired about Lucas, Bootsma and Casboult, just like we are enquiring different players from the other clubs in the competition, it does not equal to them being put on trade table.
Laidler, is the one on trade table as he has clearly came out and stated he will seek opportunity elsewhere, but the three players mentioned before has not done so.

Club offered them man..enquiries came after the offer.

Andrew McKay said himself today that we don't particularly like throwing players names out to other clubs, so seems odd that we're 'actively shopping' both of these guys. We all know that what we read in the papers isn't gospel.

No, same way that we have been enquiring about Tomlinson from GWS when they have not offered him up. Clubs look at situations and scenarios that might happen, then they make enquries, if our club sees fit, THEN they may offer said player up in negotiations.
