No, same way that we have been enquiring about Tomlinson from GWS when they have not offered him up. Clubs look at situations and scenarios that might happen, then they make enquries, if our club sees fit, THEN they may offer said player up in negotiations.

Lol... ok. Btw only Cas received interest the other two boys not so much Cas could see a swap with Chappy + pick 45'ish. Lucas being shopped for Docherty and Bootsma being shopped for Savage.. what are the chances of getting all three right? :)

Those are the facts, believe it or not it's your call.
We don't need to swap anything for Chapman as he is a delisted free agent, we can just pick him up.
Lucas' interest has been from the West rather than the North and Bootsma? Well the bloke just signed a two year contract couple months ago, don't you read the papers?

Hasnt Chapman been delisted?
If not he would be an unrestricted free agent due to his long tenure at Geelong
He is clearly delisted as Geelong have said he wont be playing for them next season

Why would we trade for him?

See, you have absolutely no idea.
Chappy is a delisted free agent (and was an unrestricted free agent before he was delisted)

Laidler is delisted as well...still on the books until the next lodgement..lol .. any player that has walked out is still on the clubs books until a trade has been agreed to. They are on the books until the next list lodgement..lolll

Because they are the rules.

Laidler hasn't been delisted, yet.
Chapman is a free agent before he was delisted, anyway.

No, they are not.

Chappy is still on Geelongs books which part do you not understand..list lodgement is on 31 October delisted free agents on 1st November between today and October 25 Geelong can accept pick 65 as a suitable trade (like Russell last year) If Geelong receives no bids then November 1st is when Chappy can be reruited. Technically Chappy is a Geelong player until 31st October and can accept any offers.

Chappy was an unrestricted free agent, before he was delisted. He can accept any offers he likes now.
But he is also now a delisted free agent, even if technically the delisted free agency period hasn't started.

I am not denying that - I am saying Geelong can still accept offers.. if Chappy turns to geelong and says I want to go to Carlton on $250k pa and GWS enter the fray and offer $400k and pick 40 what do you think Geelong is going to do? Delisted free agent is last resort and that's November 1 so long way to go until then --- long way to go until October 25 anyway...

Geelong have as much choice over where Chappy goes as we had over where Eddie went, none.

A free agent chooses their destination not the club

He can take to 250k if hw wants to

Geelong have NO input

Yes they do..Geelong can reject all offers(or receive no offers) and then Chappy goes to delisted free agency November 1 which in turns becomes a bidding war in wages if more than one club bids.

You clearly have no idea how free agency works. Time to read up on the rules.

A player has served ten or more seasons of AFL football at one club, has already come out of contract once in the period after serving his first eight or more seasons at his club, and is now out of contract. (Unrestricted free agent)
The player is eligible to field offers from all rival clubs.
If he wishes to change clubs, the player must decide on the best offer of his choice from one rival club.
His club does NOT have the right to match the presented offer, and the player can move AUTOMATICALLY to the new club of his choice.

After 14 seasons Paul Chapman is an UNRESTRICTED free agent.

Chappy doesn't have to turn to anyone?

He goes to the team that he wishes.

Chappy is tied to Geelong until next list lodgement on Oct 31 mate.. nothing more surer. Easiest way to get him is through a trade.. Geelong will not get a compo pick...but will go to a club of his choice through a Jordan Russell(free agent) type pick..no need to argue and slander if you are not sure yourself.

So is Daisy tied to Collingwood until October 31 too?
Did we have to trade for him? Did the Filth have any say where he went, apart fromt the choice of matching his contract?
Give up while you're behind.

Are you sure? He has played 14 odd seasons with the Cats... He is out of contract and thus unrestricted. He can move to any club he wants.

Jordan Russell was an unrestricted free agent as well that walked out on the club before trade period began...gee wiz.
