does anyone else find it annoying when new draftee comes out and publically says they love the club, blah blah blah when just a day earlier they would have despised said club....
I can just see the reports now considering boyd and lennon who have both been public with which team they support, Boyd: I am so happy to be going to a club with such a bright future, and or Lennon: its great to live the dream and play for a club with such a rich history such as Richmond, when really he's devastated that he missed the chance to be blue.

Reckon as 18 year olds that have been kicking the footy around in their backyards since they were in nappies it's understandable for them to be elated that they're on an AFL list. Be fair on the kids.

When it comes down to it, playing AFL is their job. Do you think a designer fresh out of uni who loves Apple products and has only ever used Apple products, would turn down a massive job opportunity at Microsoft? No chance.

This is true, but if said employee was doing wonderful things at Microsoft and Apple got wind of it, then Apple offered said employee a better contract at the company he loves.... he would be more incline to jump ship...

Are we allowed to get into the ears of Boyd and Lennon before the draft and say "look guys realistically you blokes will be going to other clubs before our pick, we'd love you both but its just they way it is, having said that we will be in contact with you on a regular basis throughout your time at whichever club you end up at and at the end of the 2 years we will be making a big play for you"

2 years is a long time. Would be hard for these guys to just suddenly jump ship as well after they have made friends at their new clubs.
I don't doubt for one moment that people recruiters don't do that already, nothing wrong with that.
It is only right that footy clubs keep in contact with managements, all part of the business.
However in two years time if they've gotten comfortable in certain environments, well it'll be hard to switch, unless you're that much of a die hard fan

There is no chance that would happen or else goddard would have been a blue year's ago.

Early 2000's - Carlton a basket case
Late 2000's - St Kilda premiership contenders

Not much call to leave, you hvae to have both success and the club you love to draw someone away.
That being said maybe he wasn't as big a fan as Boydy is ;)

I'd be happy with either one of Crouch/Dunstan/Salem/Acres around our selection, however, I'd also be considering a slider who falls out of the Top 12 such as: KoloK, Lennon, Freeman.

It would be like getting Menzel all over again.

Any highly rated prospects with LARS knees or perhaps had a shocking leg break they might never recover from? ;)

Maybe give Tonya Harding as few $$$ to organise an 'accident' for Boyd so he'll slide?
