Zak Jones is my wildcard selection. :hearts:

AA player and younger brother of another gun mid, yet he isn't pumped as the second coming like Crouch.

Keeping up with Jones: Zak's journey to join older brother

Jones is probably the type others have mentioned as being a second round bargain like Parker, Hanneberry, Beams, etc. Shame he's the sort of player who could land at Hawthorn, Sydney or even Geelong in the twenties and before our second pick.

The back pocket-midfielder description sounds a little like Rory Sloane who played on Yarran before becoming a tough mid. Would be interested to know if Jones has the disposal, endurance and speed to be a mid.

Yeah i wouldn't mind Jones seems quite solid in all areas without being elite in any, and you would think he'll only get better in an afl environment..... as it reads with Tsitas, Jones's persona is something our club needs, Plays angry dishes out a bit of lip and loves being in the thick of it... Robbo would welcome either of these 2 with open arms i think!

As for our picks 13 is solid but the 39 is kind of neither here nor there, can only hope ppl pull the trigger on some talls a bit earlier on, and Brisbane muff their 15 picks in the second round.

Hawks midfield isn't that great and they were smashed in this area during the GF but their potency up forward was ridiculous.

They all look pretty tired, and they have one of the oldest Midfield groups in the comp.... Mitchell Lewis Sewell and Hodge. i wouldnt read to much into it... they did enough.

Forward and backs won them 90% of their games. Quite a few teams with better midfields. Relied on Franklin, Roughead and Gunston ( Why do we play Boots on this guy?) kicking 11 goals between them against us. Their midfield wasn't too good against ours considering how Robinson and Murphy both got injured.

Ross Lyon lost em the game leaving Lake unchecked at CHB with a Mop just cleaning up everything..... Gunston did have a field day though!

Staring to settle on the player I'd like at our pick.

1. Acres
2. Lennon
3. Salem

We'd be unlucky for all three to be gone by 13 but it's possible, I guess.

Sell my soul to the devil.

From those who I think will be around our pick..

1. Salem
2. Freeman
3. Lennon
4. Sheed
5. Acres
6. Dumont
7. McCarthy
8. Taylor

Knowing this draft we'll pick a smokey that nobody has heard of #Whootsma?

Would love to get Freeman or Salem. Sheed is a gun but definately going to the Coasters, Taylor is a jet but a bit small.McCarthy will probably be a good player too but I think he might take a bit longer to make an impact.

There is talk of Scharenberg sliding and if by some miracle we got him then I would be stoked, but doubt he will fall out of the top ten.

Hoping we get Hourigan with pick 39. For a supposed weak draft there sure is some talented players!

Freenan or Acres for me. How's Marsh as an outsider?

I do believe we will have a choice of Freeman, Acres or young Salem. I would be happy with any of these young fella's at our club. The problem is we have a recruiting department that couldn't find a tank in a haystack. They could easily select Mr Cornelius with Pick 13.

You could make a case for that if you wanted to on past selections but that's not the case any more.
Last year showed us to take on 4 players that go beyond the call of duty to make good. (Menzel, Temay, Graham and Cachia)

We need to do what we did last year to build a little from the bottom up.
I've never got a problem with players getting the most of what they have but it is frustrating for those that don't take full advantage of their talents.

I'm confident we'll do well.............very well.

I do hope you are correct, however it is a bit early to call last years selections a success. A true picture of our history needs to be taken over several seasons and it has not been good. ;)

We've played finals footy 4 of the last 5 years, so we're getting some of them right.

You do realise last year was Shane Rogers' first year as recruiting manager right?

You hope that I'm right that last year was Rogers' first year as recruiting manager?

So if it is a bit early to assess what gives you the right to claim that they "couldn't find a tack in a haystack"?

Either it's too early to assess or it's not.

oh dear. i didn't realise it was such an issue to have my opinion put forward. life was so much easier when you could just discuss the football with friends on a saturday. i am sorry for causing any problems.

No problems at all.:thumbsu:

Nothing wrong with healthy debate.

Our recruiting department is much the same though isn't it? (outside of bringing in the guy from Geelong)
Obviously Rogers and Hughes switched roles but they were and still are the top dogs in terms of scouting and drafting.

It isn't an issue, you're perfectly entitled to have and voice our opinions but on a public forum they'll be always open to debate. :thumbsu:

We have improved and revitalized our resources for recruiting so things can only get better.
Acres, Garlet, and Colon would be an absolutely amazing outcome .

Rookies Cornelius,Mellington, Weller
Ciao

New manager, new coach to run things by as well as adding Luke Williams and also Michael Jordan. Every other business the manager is recognised as the one who makes the final call with big decisions but people flat out refuse to acknowledge this when it comes to the Carlton recruiting department.
