Let's just say, this ex-player, played in the 80/90's and works out at the club 5 days a week. I'm thinking he might know a few people, including the Prez who he played with. The other bloke formed his opinion from having been an assistant coach at a few clubs. I think they have a bit of an idea, not that it's anything earth shattering that they gave up, though it was like pulling teeth with those two mugs, as usual.

Any mention of Lennon?

Well that makes more sense.

I assumed it was a player who was delisted this year (such as Joseph etc).

Not specifically, but they did think big mid was the target skill set. So if you class Lennon as such, he fits into that category. They mainly commented on the 3 or 4 that I mentioned. Both in a hurry to get going. 10 minute quick chat really with a fair bit of hows the family.

And he already looks good in Navy. Should be an easy photoshop for zeeCFC on Thursday night :P

It's a shame we won't be able to give him 23 though.

Is it a coincidence or just stupidity from the AFL that it is having the draft on the gold coast in the middle of schoolies.

Certainly a test of ones character. AFL or the Divvy Van. Maybe the draft order will change dramatically, when 25 young lads cant handle the turps or the babes on show.

can't get too attached. especially with players rated in the top 10 [/Stringer]

You just caught me on a 'get Lennon day'. Tomorrow I'll probably have moved past Salem's love for Essendon and back on the Salem bandwagon ;)

From the AFL site.

"PLAYS LIKECripps has the same frame as Fremantle's David Mundy, who also centres his game around being adept at the stoppages. People talk about needing at least one trick to get drafted. With his midfield height and clearance work, Cripps has two major qualities. "

I'll take that. He's growing on me this kid. Still like a few others also, but this kid looks good and the pundits rate him highly. They call him an extractor. He could be our Judd replacement in a few years.

I just have concerns over taking him @ 13. I hope we don't do so because we know he won't be there at 39. Like we have done in the past.

Salem IMO would be the best fit for us, then Freeman...Convinced both will be long gone though.

Someone has to fall through. Too many permutations at this stage though given how up in there the top 10 is at the moment.

Not necessarily. I personally see Pies the only top 10 team possibly taking McCarthy who could then push a Lennon type to us.

Think Salem is the player Pies want at 6. Although they could just set their future midfield up for years and take two top talents and back themselves in for next year's KPP rich draft.

Brisbane very keen on McCarthy too. Especially if Bontempelli goes to WB.

There's a chance Collingwood could get Scharenberg and Aish.

See, there's so many possibilities.

But as I said, I don't think Brisbane have reason to be into McCarthy. The Bontempelli/Scharenberg/Aish talk for me is just shuffling top 6 lock in players around so doesn't mean much to us.

But this is all in terms of getting attached to players...anything can happen on draft day. I hadn't even considered Lucas when he slid to us.

Call me psychic but can anyone already hear Rogers and Hughes chirping "We couldn't believe he was still available at..."?
You can already see our draft getting a C or C minus because we've overlooked a tall and the name players in this draft.

Pretty accurate assesment there zee.
With picks 6 & 10, Collingwood could easily get say Salem & Lennon/Freeman.
From all reports they have gone cold on Bontempelli.

True they may have gone cold on Bontempelli, but reports say that Dogs are set on him. So maybe Collingwood are giving out the impression they've gone cold because they're no chance of him getting to them?

I don't know...Rogers' draft last year was pretty awesome, I had Temay coming to us a little later but the name players in Graham and Menzel had everyone very happy.

This year's draft will be VERY interesting.

Is he the brother of the Cripps at the eagles who ran back to WA at the first opportunity after the saints drafted him. If he is then I am worried we would be potentially wasting a top pick on a player that more than likely, would want to head back to WA when he has the chance.
