No need to bring in another experienced recruiter. We still had a good 2012 draft before getting Williams for a few months.

you dont know that, its still too early to tell about last years draftees. And you can never have enough quality, and recruiting departments i think are one of the most important sectors in a footy club

... or perhaps Luke Williams needs to come to terms with the fact that Rogers is his superior and as such has the right to make the final call and that he himself was only bought over from Geelong to provide IP?

If somebody is seriously that sensitive enough to jump ship during the most critical time of their working calendar over a disagreement in direct, I say good riddance.

Perhaps. Truth is we don't know. It just isn't a good look to have staff leaving after 6 months like that. If we fail to question, then we end up questioning our failures.

I think expressing a hope that our house is still in order when such things occur, given our most recent decade, is prudent. No need to have a go at any party until we know the facts. Better still, with a more professional club, we may not ever know the facts and that is a sign of growth I will gladly take.

Forget about IP

WTF is pinkman?!

As Bradschi said.................Get ON IT !!!!!!!!!!! Probably the best TV Series ever made.

We can draft.

Signing another up and comer wouldn't be a bad move, but I wouldn't go after a name recruiter like Rendell.

Does anyone know when Emma Quayle's phantom is out?
I thought it came out today.

Friday morning. Promises to be the most accurate one yet.

I can give you one tomorrow night at around wish 10, just as accurate but an earlier edition ;)

Steady on Nostradamus. My mind just can't process such witchcraft.

I think we can all agree that whoever we pick at #13 (whether it be McCarthy or Cripps) will be a gem and will provide excitement among the supporter base :thumbsu:

We'll either end up with a high flying, 194 cm key forward who provides good agility and X factor ... or/ a 192 cms/90 kg midfield clearance monster who is still growing into his body and will help bolster our size around the contest.

In a way, I'm more excited about the unknowns in Pick #39 and #51.

Maybe I will ... I've been looking for a decent series to start watching ever since the Soprano's ended!

This is the one C4.
Best series ever made IMO.

On Williams:

Apparently Williams may not have agreed with the way our recruiting dept. works. McKay and Mick have total control of the process - 'running their own show'. Williams will have had a say but Mick has the final call. Guess Luke didn't agree - perhaps he'll go back to Geelong.

Can understand Luke wanting more control as he should with his experience, but I'm happy with McKay, Rogers and Mick making the calls - we did well last year so can't see Williams as a huge loss (although I hope we drained him of any IP from his Geelong days before he left).

Agree that the man deserves the #1 spot in a recruiting dept. but that was never gonna happen at the Blues.

Between TG and you, there is surely a bandwagon we can all dream about?

You keep changing your mind, just stick to someone. I thought Salem would be your kind of player, I know he supports Essendon, but we can train him in our ways!!

sounds like a downhill skier.:)

I know what you're saying but you can't drain a "feel"
Wells has done very well for Geelong and watching talent is one part of the process and pooling together the right types for your team is another.

Can't help wondering what we would have thought of Wells had have the Geelong players not had that fateful heart-to-heart meeting back in '06.
From all reports that was the catalyst for the players to form a new bond and to get on the same page leading into '07.......and look what happened.

I think it would be more than a feel. I think the analysis would be quantitative, measurable and repeatable. I don't see how else the process could be managed by continuous improvement or the recruiting departments success could be rated.

Can't do much more than that.
What is potentially exciting about Cripps is his height. A 192cm mid is something to really salivate over.

Yes his height is a great asset. But can that make up for the fact he is slow and is not great athletically?

I know tall midfielders are all the rage, but I just don't want his height to blind us from some other flaws.

For example, Brock and Bell are relatively slow. But they both make up for that with great endurance. My fear is that Cripps doesn't have that running power to overcome his lack of pace. I know he can build it up over preseasons but he's not coming from a great base. Bell came to us with a great endurance base. Can Cripps build his tank up enough? Considering we've been dreaming of Yaz building his tank for years, will we always be wishing for Cripps to do the same?

Endurance can be trained into a player - I think when he becomes a full time footballer and is surrounding by a full time football development environment, he will become more athletic.

Pace is an issue though - you can change running techniques, but .... you either have it, or you don't.
