I just don't like the whole attention being dragged to it. There shouldn't be a *massive* fuss made of it. I recall a few years ago they did it during the day and I thought it worked really well. Plus there wasn't this shitty top 10 countdown.

I suppose any chance to market anything will probably be taken these days.
It used to be a Saturday morning thing.

I remember it being on a Sunday morning. The year we lost our first 2 picks was a Sunday.

The AFL is trying to turn it more into the style of the NFL draft.
Of course it won't got for days like theirs usually do.
However they are prolonging the whole process and making a show out of it.
It works with the NFL draft because there are so many teams and so many players that gets drafted each year.

Reading the draft history article on the club site...2003-2006 were some horrible years for us except for some top line first picks.

Interesting Fev was taken at pick 38...can we nab a similar player at 39? Hourigan?

hypothetical here, at pick 39 Marsh, Hourigan and Thorp are available who do you pick and why?

for the sake of it pick one of the three

Funny you say that, because lots of people say they want more fuss around the draft and improved coverage.

I personally enjoy the night time slot as it gives me an opportunity to watch the draft happen. That backwards top 10 was disgusting and ruined all the suspense, but didn't do it last year due to popular demand and i would assume it will stay that way this year. Fact is that people want to watch the draft, so they're giving people what they want. Fox Footy would only be playing replay games anyway, so they'd be happy with the increased ratings.

the draft is an interesting one where number one is usually predetermined so the count down has no real effect. the excitement is watching clubs pass on player we all thought were locks.

I dunno what it is, and he's been sliding heaps, but I still think Matt Crouch will be a gem. Has some mongrel about him, goes hard, inside ball winning monster. If he gets his tank and work rate sorted out, he could be a great distributor.

Just hope that Boyd slides to #13 and Crouch to #39. :p

Bontempelli will go no.1 and Collingwood will get Boyd at 6 according to Knightmare

I agree, I personally think Crouch will be one of the best pick ups in the draft, very low risk. I have a short memory... (not as short as thys:p) but I can't remember a player averaging 37 possessions a game in the TAC. His ability to find the ball is Dane Swanesque he has limitations but if he can keep finding the ball he will be a valuable AFL player
