You only have to look at the 2009 draft to realise that there are even drafts in regards to mids and flankers...I guess I do not understand this logic. If Carlton want to take him at 13, the chances are he will go around 13. I know that a lot of people keep saying this but the view of the media and bigfooty posters probably does not strongly correlate to the views of the clubs. If someone slides and we take them instead of Cripps (or if the mail on Cripps is wrong), he is not going to last much after our pick and certainly not to 18.

Fyfe, Bastinac, Duncan and Christensen have outperformed a lot of the first round picks. We'd be laughing if we had ranked Fyfe, Duncan and Bastinac higher than Lucas, Pittard and Jetta. The last three are still talents, but the game now favours the types Freo, Geelong, Hawthorn and Sydney have built their sides around. Dogs, GWS, GC and Richmond have a good mix of inside and outside players.
It's gradually moved back to pure footballers with Mclean surviving due to his footy smarts, clean hands, good disposal and clearance work.
