Holman has a pic on his instagram from when he played in Collingwood's VFL side with Daisy haha what an omen. Photo before that is him in a pies polo though, yuck.

I'm getting old though, they all seem like little kids... this is what it feels like, when thylacines cry.

He and Giles have a couple of incriminating photos though that Luca would want to get onto pretty soon.

195cm 93kg - 18 yrs old.... Unit!

Casboult, 198cm 103kg (I think) when he arrived at the club.

We need to pick guys who have a reasonable amount of size of them, but dont have to do a lot of work to get to their preferred weight as a player. I am suspecting Giles would need to put on about 10kg while losing 5kg in BF so he can have a playing weight of 98kg. If he can do this and retain his agility and pace, he is going to be the perfect foil long term to Watson... who should be just about ready to really start holding down the FB position this year.

Poor Lennon probably use to love Carlton v Richmond games. But they'll probably just give him nightmares from now on.

Would only last 2 years until he finishes his first contract for the tuggers and wants a trade to Carlton :D

I was one that said I wanted him, but really didn't think that mounting a case for him as a discussion point was such a big crime.

Anyway sin you are the man if the draft with your prediction, enjoy your point scoring on the thorp issue and I will bow to your better judgement in the future.

Ps/ Giles size and agility is definitely something to get excited about.

How do the parents or junior coaches allow the players to have incriminating photos on social media?

Surely its getting drafted 101, put Facebook on private.

Cripps on paper sound like he's going to be the perfect Judd replacement as a inside mid in a few years. I'm a bit worried about his clear lack of pace. Hopefully the club can get him fit ASAP.

Giles is the prerequisite HBF we always recruit in every draft, although I admit he is a big one. It wouldn't be a AFL draft unless Carlton selects a half back flank :)

Holman is another hard and tough mid. Can't complain about the tough nut focus, good to see. Well have to see how it turns out.

195cm Half back flank?

I guess it's fair to say, on the balance of things, Carlton were the big winners last night.

On the balance of things, we got a lot right as we didn't lose anyone we needed to get selections at the draft.
We got the player we wanted at #13 and as much as some may be saying we should have taken Dunstan, Dumont or Crouch, even Geelong and Sydney passed on all three.
We got Everitt for basically nothing as we would have likely have taken Giles at #32 should have we not exchanged it for #39 with Sydney anyway and if we handed over #51 for Everitt, we could have missed on Holman.

Off to the Rookie Draft now just to finish things off. Hourigan and Lambert?

GWS taking McCarty is very strange, I hope we are already in discussions with Pattons management.

thought the same, interesting having a team with cameron, boyd, patton & mccarthy.

It's almost as if GWS are recruiting with the expectation that a number of their new recruits will want out in two years time, so they're trying to cover for those losses in advance & then they can trade those leaving for high draft picks or mature players from other clubs. eg, out of those 4 maybe boyd & cameron will stay, but when trading patton & mccarthy out they'll be able to get good picks / good players in return

The AFL Draft: How your club fared

CARLTON

SEBASTIAN SAYS: Not a massive draft for the Blues as they had only three live picks then two rookie upgrades. With pick 13 they went with Patrick Cripps who was destined to go anywhere from 10-25. Is pick 13 paying overs for Cripps? Time will tell. He is a big bodied midfielder that fills a brief for the Blues as he has the body to play senior footy immediately if required. Cameron Giles was the best key backman available at that pick (39) and should act as nice depth/backup for Michael Jamison, Lachie Henderson and Matthew Watson. Nick Holman is a nice sized midfielder with neat skills that is likely to develop in the VFL in 2013.

PICKS:
13. Patrick Cripps 190cms 90kgs Midfielder from East Fremantle, WA
39. Cameron Giles 195cms 93kgs Key defender from Woodville-West Torrens, SA
51. Nick Holman 187cms 78kgs Midfielder from Murray Bushrangers, VIC.
89. Rookie upgrade Ed Curnow94. Rookie upgrade Tom Bell

RATING: B – only the three picks for the Blues. Many feel there was better talent available at pick 13 but time will tell. Giles is a good selection.

If only we traded off Murphy to get a top ten pick.........................we would have got an A

Everitt is 194cm and not a KPP

But this guy is 195cm

Never heard of a 195cm hbf.

reminds me of the 7 min abs guy in something about mary

I like how Cripps has been described as "Diesel-like" by Rogers.

Giles just does rebounding reasonably well and has good speed for his size. Not as much as a flanker than an actual key positional player who can rebound and play 1-on-1 at the same time.

Geelong supporter.

Not too sure about Cripps, maybe West Coast.

I'd say West Coast as well, with his dad's cousin being a champion of the club, so basically his uncle, played for the eagles and now his third cousin too.
However after 9 o'clock tonight all three became Carlton supporters.
I especially like the last part of that article where Cripps stated that he feels like a leader, just wants to come and win the respect of his teammates, which I reckon is just fantastic and I like an ambitious kid, not arrogant, just confident.

Cripps is a St. Kilda supporter.

Norf and Sydney probably have the value for money picks. Two solidly built players that fit the types they usually draft. Read Wells looked down after Sydney took Jones. Love that aspect of the draft. :D

They''d be raving about Hine if McDonald had been a Collingwood F/S pick at pick ten.

If Scharenberg was a Carlton pick, they'd be talking about his injuries ala Troy Menzel. And why the Dogs went for Bontempelli who seems to be a similar type.
