Perhaps because structurally we needed a ruck/forward like Ben Brown more than a KD-cum-swingman. I have high hopes for Giles, however I would have far preferred brown at that pick just on a needs basis.

You do realise Giles was a key forward come defender, not the other way around?

So can we call it, we got Everitt for a pick downgrade and got our man anyway ??? :D
It basically means Everitt didn't cost us Giles and a three year contract like Jesse White. :)

Now for George Hewett to develop into another Luke Parker.:p

Happy the Hawks took Garlett a pick before a young KPP. He's a talent, yet when we're in their shoes, we're criticised for overlooking a young KPD. Hawks taller defenders are Lake, Schoenmakers, Spangher, Stratton and Litherland. I guess they could chase talls next year.

Brown isn't going to play and be best 22 instead of Kreuzer or Warnock

Giles could develop into a CHB or Full Back.

Wouldn't be surprised if Giles was a special pick that Rogers made himself. Seemed very pleased with that selection.

Hopefully, we have been rogered just right.

Was highly regarded in some of the phantoms, so we may have stolen one here.
Going on the highlights he looks like an exciting prospect.

"We're keen to use all four picks,'' said Noble, whose club has an outstanding hit rate at the rookie lottery.

"On the back of the (Kurt Tippett) sanctions I think we need to use the four rookie spots to continue to explore and see if we can find another little gem somewhere in the pack, like a Rory Laird or a Kyle Hartigan.''
Of the 38 players on the Crows' senior list, 12 started as rookies, including Laird, Hartigan, veteran full back Ben Rutten, lead ruckman Sam Jacobs and Jason Porplyzia.

Making out like Adelaide were behind the master stroke of drafting an AA quality ruck like Jacobs as a rookie? I think not. If there is one thing we do well, it's the rookie draft. Surprised they aren't claiming Eddie Betts in the PSD as their work too.

Ginger likened him to Brian Lake.

He does seem like the best dasher out of defence since Emu. I wouldn't sneeze at getting that Tickner kid for similar reasons - his running goal was something...

He just did not seem to come on at Brisbane, I still reckon we made the right call on him though.

We'll honestly never know with Sam really. I tend to think that the extra year of junior development would have been more beneficial for him than going early into the draft and going into an AFL side well underdone.

Sheldon was a victim of the F/S rule. Hawthorn (Kennedy) and Geelong (Hawkins) got a bargain that draft parting with a 3rd round pick.

The year after, the bidding system was introduced. Under that system, if Brisbane had bid pick 70, we could have just used pick 81, which we passed on. (Though of course we'd have had to pass on Ackland or Cloke in the PSD!)

I like that two of the new draftees were captains of their sides they played in 2013 with Cripps as the captain of East Fremantle, and Holman the captain of Murray Bushrangers.
Looking forward to the photo of the three new draftees together for the first time tomorrow :D:thumbsu:

Better overhead mark, taller and uses the ball better than Bower.
Reckon we'll look back on this draft in a few years time and acknowledge how well we have done.
And last years for that matter as well.

Any interest in Eli Templeton?
We'll find out tomorrow.

Recruiters generally steered clear of anyone under 6 foot (183cm), leaving the likes of Amon, Fantasia and Honeychurch to select after our last pick.

So there's a host of talented little men in the rookie draft such as Eli, Tsitas, Battersby, Cavarra, Spina etc.

For some reason, whenever I read that surname images of a rat pop up in my head.

Seems like he is an inside midfielder. At this stage, with Graham, Temay, Holman, Cripps, I would prefer going for a classy outside runner with good disposal as a potential rookie. As well as a KPP prospect for some balance.

Yep, can't see how that list of players makes you any less desperate than us.
You are blind then I guess. Why would we need a ready to go kpf when we have 5 of them already battling for a spot and 5 others developing for the future

You're mistaken. Eli runs a 15.3 beep test, has a 2:1 ratio of uncontested to contested possessions and boasts a disposal efficiency of over 70%.

Why are you still here? You found what you wanted, just leave a list of your most promising players that we can poach in two years and leave.

Because a forward line of Brown, McGuane, Staker & Paine strikes fear in the opposition. Or any combination of the players you listed.

Now, if you mentioned Hendo - that would be different. ;)
