So you're saying Thorp doesn't really want to play AFL? He was playing in a league where several players were drafted from. Do you know why he went back to Tasmania?. So, essentially majority of Tassie players are crap, according to you.

And sure let's take another kid who's not going to make it.
He didn't say any of that. What does it matter why he went to Tassie?

And let's take a jamo, or a jeffy, or a curnow, or a Tuohy...

Then you need to re-read it. Tasmania state is inferior. He got the best player award and coached his team to a premiership. But it matters not because it's the Tassie league, any one could do it..
He went back to Tassie to get his body right and have another crack. His statement let's take a kid that wants it, clearly points that Thorp doesn't, when it's clear he does. He is 24 still quite young. We don't need a Jamo or any other player you mentioned. We need a forward.

Podsially, for drafted after years of plugging away and was good value for Geelong.

Really hope Lambert gets picked up tomorrow. By us or any club. But preferably Carlton. He deserves it.

I think your over emphasizing the knock on Tasmania. You need to keep performances by mature players in the State leagues in perspective.

Aaron Edwards kicked a 100 goals in a season for Frankston, but has yet to cement a position at AFL level at 3 different clubs. Andrew Merrington went to the WAFL after Carlton & won his club's goalkicking on at least 2 occasions. Ben Warren kicked 50+ goals in the VFL this season (including 11 in one game) having previously been delisted by North after struggling to get a regular game.

There are a number of clubs who could do with a KPF, yet Thorp was overlooked in the ND, no doubt by recruiters who are able to place some perspective on performances in the State leagues (as an example, with the compromised drafts now out of the way, it is no coincidence the number of players drafted from the VFL this year is well down on the last few years of compromised drafts).

Given that Scotland and Cachia are locks for the nominated rookie spots, you would think we will be after project rather than ready-made players.

Going to be interesting.

I think that Scotland would be considered more LTI cover rather than a nominated rookie. I think that we will be chasing after a developed KPP (possibly a defender like Tippett) who would be the nominated rookie for next year. If things work out for them, they get a promotion to the full list.

Is Conlon that mega athletic but injury prone kpf cut ruck I was reading about? If so, that's exactly the kind of bloke we should be rookie listing..... Risky project player with high upside. Don't want another one paced ball accumulator with borderline skills.

Pick #12 - Conlon
Pick #28 - Cornelius
Pick #41 - Tuck

:thumbsu:

Well the end of the drafting arguement debate is nigh. We have done well in the main draft, and with the Irish lads.
Conlon almost picks himself if he gets to our pick, some risk but plenty of potential upside. If he doesn't last, perhaps we take Cripps' partner in crime, Cameron as a developing ruckman.

The "mail" has been right through the period, so have to believe Thorpie not on radar.
This puts Cornelius in a one horse race for a mature "key" forward (unless a smokey out there from state leagues). At least we are keeping the Tassie theme, despite the purported lack of talent from the state, by the "experts" on here.

We have been linked to Miles which I am in favour of. No one could begrudge Kane Lambert a spot based on performance and relationship with the club and players. The quality "undersized" mids who were overlooked in the National Draft could provide plenty of upside, I favour Ben Cavarra from that group. The suggestion of Tuck is not without merit, well performed, great, slow-maturing pedigree, and everyone deserves a second chance (if they do their "time")
