Sorry to intrude guys

Just in regards to Cross and Sewell, it would be a huge risk to recruit both IMO. Both would be retiring about the same time and would leave the Demons in arguarbly the same position as you have been in the past 24 months, again in 36 months time.

One would be a good pick up, just need to decide which one would fit better in with what you already have and go from there. Sewell seems a bit more dynamic but Cross is ALOT more consistent.

Heading in the right direction guys, keep the confidence and it will come together soon enough :thumbsu:

36 months will buy us some more time to develop and protect our younger set.

I'd be very happy with both Sewell and Cross for next season.

As a long suffering supporter I'd rather suffer a little longer than recruit either Sewell/Cross. Why recruit more players in their twilight yrs with speed/disposal issues to add to the one we already have. In Cross' case, he's not in Bulldogs' plans, but should be in ours??? Sewell would have been good years ago except for Ferguson's reluctance to move. We shouldhave offered him a sweetner. Las t yr we recruited Brynes, Rodan, Pedersen & Gillies and I'm tired of these bandaid solutions. Let's recruit younger talent at the draft or players under 25 with experience if we feel we have to go down that path. While I'm on it, I hope we delist players who can't kick like Nicholson......

There is a huge difference between Sewell cross and our other guys

Apart from rodan we didn't need the other guys in there positions

Sewell and cross would instantly make our midfield better , even if they don't play they can both teach our other midfielders what it means to be an a grade inside midfielder , and I'm sure they could both play every game without injury

Cross isn't in the dogs' plans because he's having a hard time breaking into thier midfield. He'd be our second best.

Furthermore, he'd be one of if not the hardest trainer at the club which can only be good for our youngsters and one our underperforming not-so-youngsters.

On the topic of development, I think Tappy should play down back. It's where he has played his best footy and his lack of pace is really exposed across half forward.

He is a long kick but it's not really penetrating but I'm not sure that he is quick enough to play forward either ..he is brave and tough but he needs to do alot more

Tappy really confuses me. His kicking was by all accounts elite as a junior, but I'm buggered if I've seen it since he got drafted. He seems slow and unathletic too; but he was a beast of a tackler as a junior. I don't know where he should play and I don't know if he's in our best 25 at the moment. And that in itself is a big worry for a guy in his 4th/5th season, given the state of the club.

I don't think he would be out of place in defence IMO. Like I said, his tacking and pressure will be a huge plus and if we match him up 'correctly' with the right opponent, his lack of pace and athleticism wouldn't be so glaring.

Could Tappy be used as a defensive forward? Just tell him to go out there and tackle, tackle, tackle and keep the ball in our forward 50 ... might be too slow though

tapscott was fast when we drafted him... so were many others, i dont get it... i think part of the fitness was to bulk em up which lost their speed re brock

I don't think he has the burst or the tank required for the 2nd, 3rd and 4th efforts.

I tend to agree with the post above regarding his bulk and lack/loss of speed. Maybe if he trimmed down a bit.

I wanna persist with Tappy. Remember his first game? Dudes were down in demons shop at halftime getting his number on their guernseys. I reckon he should be in the midfield. Just hammer guys.

Gawn won't be going anywhere. He just re-signed with us for a further two years. He will most likely be #1 ruck as of next year with Jamar playing second fiddle as he is close to the end. As already stated, he is 21& a man mountain. Most rucks don't start to hit their best until 24+ so I'm sure the new coach would have big Max central to his plans.

Spencer could be traded if we were offered a reasonable mid I think, as that is the glaring deficiency!
I'd rather trade Jamar (I know he's contracted), he's too one dimensional. He doesn't kick anymore and his taps go no where. I realize Spencer is not a good kick, but of the twoI'd keep him. However, I'd trde him if a good trade was offered, because I reckon we could use Fitzy in the ruck.(If not he'd make a very tall ruck rover).

Pretty sure he was a stocky forward pocket carrying around a fair bit of puppy fat. He's trimmed down a fair bit since he was drafted. Was never a speed merchant.

Jamar has no trade value and is an extremely well respected figure at our club. With a trio of young ruckmen as well, having Jamar at the club is a considerable source of mentorship for them. Gotta show the loyalty IMO, important on a morale level.

Dayle Garlett
Club: Swan Districts
D.O.B.: 9.1.94
Height: 180cm
Weight: 78kg
Medium forward with dynamic left foot both around goals and in setting up the play. Has ability to consistently find space and he excels at stoppages. All-Australian at under-18s level in 2012 and has had excellent senior year with Swan Districts kicking 44 goals and averaging 17 disposals, including kicking five goals or more on four occasions.

Very keen if we can get our hands on him....would be a star at the feet of Hogan, Dawes and Clark.

I have no doubt that Roos is the right man to both mentor him and develop him.

It's surely a confidence thing, he's a great kick in the VFL - even with the shit conditions.

I've heard that Garlett had an interview with Port Adelaide in recent weeks, they went to visit him in WA and the kid didn't even show up, the guy is a f***wit.

Wow if that's true that is seriously stupid on his behalf...has not done himself any favours.

Yeah, the word was he was quite unwell though.

But I guess we'll never know if he was sick or hungover after a big night out..

And it's not like he didn't show up, he cancelled the morning of the meeting.

If his dream is to sacrifice whatever it takes to play AFL footy he'd have to be in a hospital bed to cancel a meeting like that. Perhaps he is a no go zone after all.
