Pull your head in Super, he's a club stalwart.

Good luck to him, he can go to a club where he's likely to win something instead. Just because we cocked up on McDonald doesn't mean we have to hold on to every single experienced player until the bitter end. Nobody would even be having this conversation if we hadn't replaced Junior with total muppets.

If he does stay I hope the roles are reversed and he's the second ruckman spending more time in the forward line while Gawn starts.

As for the idea that we can keep him even if he plays in the 2's that's even ruder than the idea of trading him.

It should be noted in this thread that you can pay out players with years on their contract as long as you've got enough space in this year's cap. Which we obviously will, but I can't see them doing it - given that there's a bunch who are absolutely gorn anyway you might as well keep Bail and Dunn as cover instead of replacing them with pick 86 and 100. Unless we get some free agents or players through the PSD of course..

Not saying this how I want our departures to go - and it doesn't take any surprise trades into account - but here's my predictions:

Delisted: Davis, Gilies, Jetta, Sellar and Taggert from the primary list and Magner/Couch from the rookie list.

Retired: Rodan

Free agent: Sylvia

Trade: Jamar

That's eight off the main list and two rookies.

Mine would be:

Delist: Davis, Gillies, Jetta, Sellar, Taggert, Bail, MacDonald (subject to contracts)
Retired: Rodan
Trade: We have no one worth trading that ain't required
Free Agent: Sylvia possibly

7-9 off the list.

Then bring in Dale Thomas, 1st round midfielder, scraps and new rookies.

I'm surprised that people want Taggert gone. He 'fits the mold' as tall midfielder, and his 2012 was ruined by back injuries - which would've prevented him from running and a lot of weightlifting. 2013 is much like his first year, so I want to see him get at least another year under a new coach. Evans had really similar issues to Taggert (back problems), but they held onto him and when he got his chance, he was good for us, especially when you consider how far back he was coming from.

With all the crap that is starting to surface about Neeld's relationship with the players, I feel its almost unfair to delist guys like Taggert and Tynan, as they have only had a chance to train and play in what is appearing to be a pretty negative environment.

no to Dale Thomas .... find more Turlich types , guys that are desperate for a shot , not guys you have to wave wads of money in front of to get them interested .

At the same time in Evans Nicholson terlich clisby kent jones mckenzie we have plenty of blokes who give effort , we need some quality players now

The veterans list doesn't really exist anymore. You just get to pay them about $100k outside of the salary cap. No age limit, just requires 10 years of service. Jamar qualifies, as will Sylvia next year..?

I'd like to see Davey stick around, reckon the 'old' Davey is back with workrate just needs the ball in the forward half to be more damaging.

To move Spencer or Fitzpatrick on we would want to receive massive overs I reckon. Given The unreliability of Clark's body, Jamar's increasing injury concerns, and Gawn's history with injury I think it would be a huge gamble to lose depth at ruck/tall forward. Unless they desperately want to leave for more opportunity (money) then I think they're still required. We have plenty on the list worthy of being shifted one way or another before them.

Bail injured himself a fortnight ago and may not make it back until VFL finals. Will be interesting to see what happens.

Davey - I would like a 1 year, cheap deal as he is well-loved.
Davis - No idea honestly, hope he makes it.
Gawn - OMG KEEP HIM!!!!!!
Gillies - Gone
Fitzpatrick - Keep him!
Jetta - Gone
Sylvia - Hope we keep him
Taggert - Gone
Tynan - Gone
Watts - Holy hell, keep him!

Unsure on:

Macdonald
Nicholson
Rodan
Sellar
Why are Taggert and Tynan gone, syl?

Agreed, Jamar is a better tap ruckman then anyone else on our list and even if he just played in the twos as a backup he will still be an asset to helping Gawn and Spencer learn.
Regarding Jamar this is probably the most important reason to keep him. He probably will play mostly twos for the rest of his career IMO, but I reckon he'd be a good mentor and keeping him around would probably be good for the club culture too due to our real lack of senior MFC players.

They have been on the list 3 years? And not played 1 game

Atleast Jetta bail and these guys have played

1.5 years...

Tynan has played 2 games.

Has it only be 2? Hmm
I can't say I've followed them 2 much from overseas but wasnt one if them running around in the development league?

We have been crap so you should have been able to get a game from us , however I would like to think everyone has a second chance under Craig

I think both were this year for a while. I don't have huge wraps on either. Prefer Tynan but have cooled my jets since March after seeing Terlich play.

Yea I think it's gonna take a good player to take a spot from terlich now he's one of the first picked

The pair of them would wanna play some games before the end of the year

I would hold both Tynan & Taggert for at least one more year each. The new coach can then make an assessment after 12 mths.

Taggert is practically a 1st yr player this year after suffering a bad back injury for the majority of last yr.

Tynan is showing some ability at VFL level & is starting to compile decent numbers.

Plenty of others to get rid of before these two. I think most MFC would have had Fitzy being delisted only 1 mth ago so hold tight for now

Pretty much this. I'm not really comfortable with Pedersen down back (I don't think he's a backmen), and if we can't play him forward, I'm 50/50 about wanting him to go as well (if we can pay out his contract).

Would love Thomas, and hope Sylvia stays.

I've been adamant since preseason that Pederson was the worst pickup of the last two years. Worse than Sellar, worse than Byrnes (who I think is absolutely terrible fwiw), worse than Rodan.

I have honestly not only never seen Pederson play a good game, I've never seen him have a good quarter. I'd be hard pressed to recall ever seeing him do one good act that wasn't bookended by two negative/shit things.

I am dumbfounded beyond belief that he got three years. Insanity!

Paul Johnson, Ian Richardson, Craig wulffe. These are 3 extremely experienced wafl players that would be excellent pick ups. Btw stay away from Johnson as I want gws to grab him haha

De-listing Taggert?

No way. The kid hasn't even had a pre-season at the club!

I'd rather delist older spuds.

I think we don't need to cull this list, we just need to grow it.

I don't even know where to start.
