Sylvia, to me anyway, wasn't really that definitive. If someone asks if a player wants to stay they can't say 'no, I am thinking about leaving''. He mentioned he had a decision to make and said if it can be worked out it would be good. He's an alright player I'm not really fussed. Frawley is the only must keep IMO.

nah sylvia full on said he wats a deal to be worked out with melbourne, i was for once confident when someone said it imo :)

On past form the most likely scenario, if he found himself in that situation, is that he'd be ineligible due to suspension...

Hey guys, sorry to intrude. I was just wondering on the chance that Watts ends up requesting a trade, what you would want and realistically expect to get for him? Cheers

I think Melbourne will want something pretty high, he has shown what he has got in him this year, will explode next year, IF we let him go it wont be cheap, not sure what but not gonna be a Cale Morton type trade

We will want a 1st round pick. With a number if clubs seemingly interested in him I would expect a pick inside the top #15. Competition drives up prices.

Other fans are saying picks in the 20's or 30's but that is ridiculous.
I want him to stay as his best footy is ahead of him & everyone seems to forget he is 22yo.

re Watts ,if he lets his contract run out, wouldn't he then have to go into the pre season draft ? I hope he stays btw.

No. He could nominate for the ND eg. Luke Ball & be taken anywhere in the draft.

The above is unlikely to occur, Melb wouldn't take the risk of not getting anything for him. If Watts wants out he will be traded - simple as that.

I'm hoping he stays!

I find it funny to be honest how he is maligned by a lot of opposition supporters & supposedly no good, yet since putting contract talks on hold until seasons end, suddenly there are a lot of opposition supporters wanting to know what it would cost their club to get him over!!!!

Cheers ,wasn't sure .And i agree the interest in him from other teams supporters is funny given how much of a spud he has been called by a lot of them . I still believe him when he said he wanted to stay ,but can understand him wanting to see how things develop at the club before signing a new contract.

FYI Gang ... Greg Denham has just announced on SEN that Jack Watts will definatley be playing for Carlton next year.

That's not really worth anything, to be honest :p.

Greg hates all things Melbourne.

Venom's word is oath! 100% eh? Laughable

If Mick is that deaperate to get Jack make them pay through the A** for him. Or we just take one of the other offers that come our way.

Last year at trade week, Denham said Jack Watts to Carlton was just about done.

only to have Greg Swan to come out and say the Blues had no interest in Jack Watts.

How good is it to be a journalist these days. All siht and no accountability.

I think Watts will go. Looking at where we're at, if you were hitting that age where you should be nailing down a spot in the side you'd be daft to stay wouldn't you? I can't imagine there are too many happy memories and presently not a lot of hope to keep him tethered to the place. If he's thinking about his future in the game then the smart money would be to walk.

Sylvia can go too, and I hope he does. He will not win a Brownlow. He will play some decent games. Good odds he'd tear it up against us.

If Watts goes, I can see us getting between pick #10 and #20 for him, depending on how many teams go in. I reckon there'd be genuine interest from Collingwood, Carlton, Dogs, Brisbane, Adelaide and Fremantle for him.

Then again, if we negotiate like we did last trade period we'd probably trade him straight up to Collingwood for Quinten Lynch and downgrade a pick in the process. Give Lynch a 6 year deal and a lifetime supply of gloves for his trouble.

Anyone know of Nichos contract status? After tonight he is heading into delist territory.

He can run, but that is it. His disposal is woeful (I need a stronger word than that) and I don't see it getting better.

He's been delist since about round 3 for me. It's not just his disposal it's his brain. Decision making is woeful.

It's terminal. Pull the ****ing plug on him.

Yep. Would much rather Kent than Nicholson. Dan's tackling and run are about the only things he has going for him, but disposal and decision making let him down too often for either to be useful.

Dunn is the first one to go contracted or not, pay the sod out, over it, if anybody tells me one or two things he did against the suns thats the problem, you are noticing one or two coz the rest is shit

Problem is you can't delist and pay out contracted players, Dunn has another year left. We could perhaps trade him for for a draft pick, say pick 100 that we will never use, but we just have to find a club that wants him on their list.
