And people wonder why We went after Dawes. That article is the EXACT reason we went for him. The guys is a Leader. Doesn't Surprise me that Mitch is jumping on either, after the crap he has had to deal with re injury, he'd be wanting to do anything he can to come out firing next season. yes please on Cross, all he wants is game time and he will be terrific protection for our younger players. The Dogs midfield is good enough to go ahead without him, but he could be a great risk-free pick up for us

One or two. It would still ease the burden on Jones, Toumpas and Viney (and whoever else we get) for those couple of seasons. Or we could upgrade Magner and actually play him. They seem similar players, except Magner is a few years younger. Either way I'd like to see one of them placed onto the primary list and given regular games. We need guys who can win the ball in the midfield, or stop the opposition winning it, both could do that.

Cross will be good for 2 more years maybe even 3. He is still playing good footy but with the amount of slow players we have that are younger he needs to be moved on. Personally i would have got rid of Boyd ahead of Cross but it is what it is. If you do get him, Treat him nicely. Gonna be sad seeing him for the final time in out colours on Sunday. Massive crowd fav.

I think he just wants to keep playing, and get some games. He might not be able to crack into a premiership ready midfield but he'll definitely be able to hold a spot in the weakest midfield in the comp

Crossy isn't really like that. I think he gets a great amount of pleasure out of helping young players.
He's perfect for your club. You should be going very hard at him.

That wouldn't even be a consideration for him, he just wants to play as he loves football, the amount of time he dedicates to getting himself 100% prepared is insane, he is exactly the player Melbourne hoped to recruit last year when they wanted leaders to show way to young guys, he is last off track in every training session and he is an absolute top bloke to top it off. The only reason I see Melbourne not doing it considering he comes for free is if they are spooked by last year when they picked the wrong guys like Rodan etc.

As a FA I would like to see us try to nab Cross. Sure he would be 31 come the start of next year but I think it would be a good move and certainly an upgrade on the mature blokes we recycled last year. By all reports he is an excellent trainer & he certainly wouldn't be holding back junior talent in the midfield

If Eade was to get the job too he would also know exactly what Cross brings to the table.

I have been advised by a mate that I should not be surprised to see John o'rourke's name come up in trade discussions this year. I don't know much about him though only that he has tonnes of promise and went high in the draft.

He is a mid if I recall correctly.

Agree 100%, I really want us to get Cross. We need more guys with the types of footy values he has, hard working and understands being on an afl list is a privilege not a right. I think he would bring more of the same stuff Clark and Dawes have over the past couple of years, and it's exactly what we need.

Could he be the recent draftee looking for a move already then? People had linked Jacksh (?) to that rumour but I guess it could easily be O'Rourke. IIRC he was an outside winger type. Would take though.
