Alright, well I know it's extremely premature but TAC cup is around the corner and talking about the juniors is something we all love to do on this board.

So to get us started, I'll mention a few players whom will probably be available around our first round pick, assuming we keep it, and hopefully the discussion will get rolling.

With an educated guess, we'll end up with a pick between 9-14. It's also pretty fair to say that we may deviate from taking another inside/vanila type midfielder. If you look at our midfield, we have really only 1 spot available for a quick outside type player. Other than that, I could see us taking the best available KPP too, because our junior stocks are really nothing to write home about.

Jack Billings 182cm Mid/Fwd - Oakleigh Chargers

Christian Salem 182cm Mid - Sandringham Dragons

Dwayne Wilson 176cm Mid/Fwd - Sturt

Cam Conlon 197cm KPP/Ruck - Northern Knights

James Tsitas 180cm Mid - Geelong Falcons

Matt Scharenberg 189cm Def - Glenelg

Based off what we know of the draftees so far, these are some names which will probably be spoken about in the range of our pick.

Billings is a really interesting player. This kid's football knowledge rivals even that of the great Cotch himself. He played forward for Metro in the Champs last year and absolutely dominated. This kid is a Nick Dal Santo equivalent but with the ability to go up forward and kick goals. His skills are elite, his football ability is elite and to be honest, he will probably be a top 5 pick so we won't even get a look. The only knock on him is that we haven't seen enough of him in the midfield yet so there is a slight chance that he will slip.

Christian Salem is also a player who Richmond has had their eye on. I absolutely love him too. He is an outside running player, not exceptionally quick but has a knack of finding the ball and using it well. Another really great thing about Salem is his physicality. This guy LOVES to attack the man. Bumps, shepherds, the type of player that Dimma loves. If I could relate him to a player, I'd say he is a bit like Shaun Grigg but with much better skills and a tad more inside.

The best way to describe Dwayne Wilson is simply to put him in that category of Lewis Jetta and Cyril Rioli. He has superb speed, superb skills, and loves to hit the scoreboard. He is probably a little while off the body of an AFL player, so his impact wouldn't truly hit until a few years into the system but he is still an absolute beauty. There was one game last year, where he had 17 handball receives in a single game. This is the type of player we don't have and could really be the cherry top in our already incredible midfield.

Cam Conlon in my opinion is the second best KPP option of the draft. This kid is an absolute beauty. He is alot like Todd Elton but he is much more consistent and you look at him and know he'll be a great player at AFL level. He has the leap, the speed and also rarely misses a set shot. He isn't a power-forward like Walker/Cloke etc, but more your Jack Riewoldt, Jarryd Roughead type.

(Couldn't find pick, sorry :( )

James Tsitas is a really solid player from down in Geelong. I must admit, I haven't seen much of him but from what I've heard this guy just oozes class. This guy is one of those inside/out players and I've seen many comparisons between him and Sidebottom. He runs all day and has sublime skills. This guy is a no risk pick in my opinion.

Matt Scharenberg has been rated as the best backman in this year's pool. He's another one of those beauties from SA. (Gee they've been blossoming down there recently.) Just like Kamdyn and Batch, this guy can hold down a key defensive roll and also become a half-back. This guy though, is a ball-winning machine. On top of that, he is clean and he has a really large frame. I guess you could compare him a bit to Rance, but if you put this guy in the midfield, his potential is really untapped.

Enjoy and would love to hear all of your thoughts.

Strong advocate for Conlon. Feel he would be a a great addition to our side, and form a very good Ruck/Forward combo with Vickery, however, due to having Elton and McBean on the list, we won't take him.

Billings is one I would really love. He is just all class, and a very good player. Would be a cross between Bartel and Dal Santo, with inside capabilities. Will be a good player for any club who chooses him.

One player that I really really want at the Tigers is Luke Reynolds. He is 186 cm's and 85 kg's so he is a unit already. He is very much similar to Paul Chapman.

This is what Knightmare has to say about him in his 2013 phantom draft thread.:

Profile: Really damaging player who can play either as a forward or as a midfielder to a high level. Has a long kick on him and is a good finisher from range enjoying those long goals and at times can go off with some big bags of goals. The other real strength to his game is his strength overhead as one of the stronger marking midfielders you’ll find. Has some versatility to his game and can play forward, midfield or off a back flank but feels most damaging forward of centre.

Nice stuff MR. Guessing i'll be once again spending plenty of time in this thread this year. Lets hope we can get a nice pick in the #10-14 range :D

Want the highest rated midfielder who has genuine speed and foot skills at our first pick. Preferably one who isn't sub 180cm tall and weighing 70kg wringing wet.

I like the look of James Tsitas , got a bit of Mcfly about him and that acquaintance you call when want a set of tyres and aren't concerned where they came from because they are a quarter of the price of the exact same ones in the catalog.

Not being any sort of expert. I have heard this years draft is very deep in skilled running mids. Which is where I reckon our greatest need probably is. So hopefully we'll get a very good guy to fill a hole in the list.
Unless someone even better turns up. I'm not sure of the depth in terms of KPs, inside mids etc. It'd be good if MR or other informed posters could outline where this draft is strong and where weak.

Was very impressed by Salem in the TAC cup last year. Hoping he stays around the mark for our pick, really like him.

Who we take however will depend a lot on the form of Vickery, Astbury, Elton and Griffiths this year. We need these guys to start living up to their potential. If they fail to make any waves this year I'd be looking at Conlon or someone similar.

Although i do think we need a monster like Walker.

Lets slip em a buck or two and let them tank it out in the TAC so we get each one of them :D
