Have heard a rumour from my source that we will be picking him up in next years draft. He cant state the name until its made official and once it is official I will confirm it with him...

Clayton McCartney could be a good option for that outside skilled player with pace. He lead the TAC for Goal assists behind Lachie Whitfield and is known for his defensive pressure and ability to find space.
Kicked 3 goals from 14 disposals on the weekend.

Looking like a second rounder at this stage.

May as well give this a plug.

You might have seen that I write and edit for an independent footy outlet called Bound For Glory News.

This year, in an effort to expand our operations, we'll be covering TAC Cup games every week. You can find articles and reviews for every round of the season at this link:

The week 2 review was just posted up yesterday. Any comments are welcome.

If you like it, feel free to link it to friends. It would be greatly appreciated.

Good stuff. I'd link it to others if I had Facebook or something lol

Word of mouth is just as good. ;)

Btw, if any of you draft buffs were interested in writing for the Rising Stars aspect of BFGN, feel free to inbox me. Always looking for more people who are keen to help out. :)

Favourites in this pool boys?

For me, outside of the obvious, it's Christensen and Cam Conlon. Lots of upside in both.

Do you have any more info on Christensen? Don't know much about him.

Apparently Scharenberg is an awful kick so would be surprised if we went after him.

From early TAC reports Lennon might be in the pool of players that will go around our pick

Elusive small forward and midfielder who can really hurt oppositions with his goal sense, evasive ability and speed. He might go late/rookie. Just a kid I like seeing this far.

Wonder if he's Allen's brother? If he's anything like Allen Christensen, he'd be just the sort of player we could use, I reckon!

Allen's brother, yes.

We definitely need an outside pacy runner who can find the ball. I'm sold. Seems like he's got defensive efforts, pace and smarts.

As I have said, I want a dynamic small forward. We lack this. Someone when we go long and the ball hits the turf opposition shit themselves about.

I want pace. Not just good pace, explosive pace. I am not concerned about height, watching Jake Neade shows you can be any height to make a difference.

I want some magic. A guy who can kick a goal from nowhere. Someone who has the ball tucked up against the boundary line, then bananas it through. Momentum shifter. Game breakers. We lack this. Nahas is not good enough and we should look to trade him. King is not this type. Edwards is kinda this type but not exactly. He will benefit from another of this exact type.

One guy in junior level I would recruit:

Lewis Taylor - Geelong Falcons - Exactly they type I want at our club. Not a lot of him, but one of the quickest kids in the draft pool, great skills and can do the unexplainable. I can see him at the feet of Riewoldt, Vickery and Griffiths causing mayhem.

I maintain I would be strongly looking at Byron Sumner, was on the Sydney list now I think still in the SANFL doing well, someone can confirm this. He would be another we could obtain.

Also keep an eye out on Marlon Motlop who I believe is in the WAFL and of course Dayle Garlett.

Like last draft, we need this type.

Have you givin any thought to Cruize Garlett really good inside mid used to be with north, played 3 games of wafl unfit (as what I've heard) and has got bout 30 touches each time with prob the most clearances for peel, the guy is a gun his last game was the best with 32 touches a goal and a lot of clearences, in there first win. Keep an eye on him.

Couldn't see a trade thread after a quick scan of your board, but i'll chuck this in here instead:

We've got a few players who are almost certainties to be on the trade table this year, unless drastic improvement occurs in the next 10 games.

Jarrad grant: 192cm 87kg, 23 years of age. 57 goals from 50 games. Tall utility who hasn't come on as we'd have expected. Can play as a leading forward, tall wingman and even a Medium/Tall defender. Is very fast, probably is in the top 5 for pace at the club. has had trouble putting any muscle on, therefore he's struggling with Macca's highly contested game plan.

Dylan Addison: 186cm 89kg, 25 years of age. 18 goals, 76 games. Formerly a HBF but last year was very effective as a defensive forward. Very contested player, macca loves him. has been injured for the first 4 rounds, but expect him to be back in the team soon. So brave, its scary.

Christian Howard: 185cm, 84kg, 22 years of age. 17 games, 3 goals. former first round pick who is another who hasn't done well with Macca's contested game plan. I like him as a player, has elite foot skills, isn't overly slow, although by no means has express pace, and has a massive tank. Is capable of playing HBF, wing and outside midfielder. Probably needs a fresh start.

Lukas Markovic: 193cm 96kg, 25 years of age. 25 games. Was a mature age recruit about 4 years ago, has been in and out of the side for various reasons, including form, injury and team balance. One of the coaches favourites and has a fantastic attitude. Great leader. Knocks on him are his pace and isn't overly tall for a gorilla defender.

Jason Tutt: 177cm, 80kg. 9 games and 8 goals. 21 years of age. Fast outside midfielder with a big tank and a penetrating kick, is a ball of muscle. Was critisised for his hardness, but to his credit has come back this year and hit the contest hard. wasn't afraid to tackle a bigger opponent. Was injured last year and lost opportunities that he certainly could have taken because of it.

Patrick Veszpremi: 182cm, 85kg. 22 games, 17 goals. 23 years of age. I love Patty as a player, and hate the fact the club wont give him a proper go. Has all the skills and ability in the world, just struggled a little with his tank and ability to run out games. This was partly due to the club trying to make him into a midfielder, when he is clearly a natural forward, which is what we lack. Is an excellent kick, knows where the goals are, and as stated before, is a natural footballer. Has improved his tank considerably, as evident by his VFL performances this year, in which he has tallied 37 disposals, 3 goals 5 behinds, before that was 18 disposals, 3 goals 2 behinds, and in the first round of the VFL, he snagged 1 goal,2 behinds and 18 disposals. Very good start by Patty.

Interested in any of these blokes? or does someone else on our list tickle your fancy...

MR Toadvine Tigerbob TFLUA-Tiger as has been discussed we look like we need some genuine speed, can you give us a list of kids that we non draft watchers should be keeping an eye out who have that attribute.

Not one of those guys would even get close to a look in with our team even if the entire team caught gastro I'd rather our players just played.

Jarrad Grant - is a weirdo who struggles to fit in to a team environment and at AFL level hasn't got a position.
Dylan Addison is a hard working scrapper who can't kick to save himself.
Christian Howard - probably the only one you'd get anything for. Should never have gone first round in the draft and the only thing I can see that he does well is his kicking.
Markovic - is just awful. We need a gorilla defender but he isn't it.
Tutt - should have been a rookie not a 2nd rounder. He's like a worse version of Matty White and a lot of our supporters already want to get rid of White.
Veszpremi is one of those VFL standard players. Struggles with his tank because he is so unfit. Looks overweight all the time and just lazy.

As for the rest of your list. Nothing you'd willingly give up. If Cooney got through the year unscathed I'd have a look in FA which then the Dogs would get a draft pick to help the rebuild. Or has Cooney re-signed with the club.

Given that all the teams that will finish below us are screaming for midfielders I wonder if there is a chance someone like Tom Boyd will slip down the draft. Clubs also look like they are filling ruck spots with players from other teams who arent getting the opportunity. Can't say I know much about Boyd's more recent form. I know he was a super junior player.

Dogs will take him for sure. Surely they've learnt that they need a KPF.

Is true yet a bit of a shame .
