lol McStay !

Joins
McBean
McDonough
McIntosh
McGuane replacement

All we need is McDonald as a Sponsor

Fits the change in recruiting policy. We're apparently keen on Clayton McCartney too just for the lulz.

Say if Conca goes (doubt he will)
We could potentially go Sheed, Freeman, then if Garlett lasts into the second round i'd take him..if not I think we can adress our small forward needs with Kennedy-Harris should he be available.

I still think we should go after a state league ruckman. Rory Lobb, Michael Sikora etc. all offer more than what Stephenson and Derickx will/do.

However, I still think we should throw a line to Myles Bolger. Not playing WAFL seniors, and as a result should be able to pick him up as a late rookie prospect. Low Risk, High reward, as I think he could still become a solid AFL ruckman, and if not, we still get a ruckman for our seconds side next year.

Im not really too fussed about chasing a ruckman to be honest
There will be alot of disgruntled ruckman from other teams that will be looking to move clubs and with a stronger Richmond they will be itching to come to us - Just draft a project kid that will be ready in 3-4 years.

Im Confident that next year Liam McBean will be around 98kgs and can play the Vickery role and Tyrone could fill in for Maric if needed

Longer,Gorringe,Lycett,West,Clarke,Currie,Daw,Warnock,Hampson all cant get games atm for there clubs

With a few of those (the first three, primarily), it's probably not fair to say "they can't get games for there clubs", implying that means they're no good. Those three are all young, and have very good ruck options ahead of them (particularly in the case of Leuenberger and Cox/Nic Nat).

I'd be happy to take Longer or Lycett, although you have to weigh up the potential cost.

TFLUA-Tiger Our 3rd pick was/is in a really tough spot with Miller and Impey being my next preferences it seemed to really drop off just before our pick.
Like Tigs I thought you'd go for Jones who you are a big wrap for but small forward/mid is a position of need is that the main reason Zac was overlooked?

Toadvine - I took Karpany over Jones because I wanted to see where others rated him. I'd have comfortably taken him at that pick, but I wanted to see where he slid to. In saying that, he was too tempting to pass up in Round 4.

Karpany's someone who I think can translate to the next level - he's quick, works hard defensively and makes exiting the defensive 50 torrid for opposition. I'm a sucker for X-factor and he's got it in spades.

I really liked Wilson coming into the year but I'd probably take Karpany well and truly over him now. I still have Wilson rated higher because I'm hoping he'll develop some consistency but it's just not happening is it?

I just wrote up Karpany and said almost the same thing. Dwayno has some truly elite aspects to his game but needs to string it all together - while Karpany's much more solid but a lot less-spectacular. I think there's lots to work with for both - but I'd be worried about that extra bit of weight that Wilson is carrying around his upper thighs and belly and hope that his work ethic is good enough for him to gain consistency.

Lol yeah I just read your write-up and was agreeing with it all.

I find it pretty much impossible for McBean to be 98kgs next year. He's around 85-86 now?
Gaining 12 would be impossible without steroids. Even gaining 5kg (of actual muscle) over a preseason, would be a massive ask.

Plus the club won't want him losing much speed or agility so I think he will slowly gain 2-3 kilos a pre season for the next few years.

There was an interview/article that was released that said he had made it to about 93 kg earlier in the season while on a similar regime to Elton (before midseason I think). If so makes 98kg by next season much more realistic and within reach :thumbsu:

What are our thoughts on Willy Rioli?

Obviously a rookie prospect, but he has been hitting some good form these last few weeks. Has kicked 13 goals in last three weeks, and has set up even more scoring shots. Seen him live maybe three times, and his vision and smarts forward of centre are just great. Would love to give him a chance!

Player Profile below for those that don't know a lot about him.

As posted by TJT he is now 93+kgs mid season and has the body/build/frame that looks like its suitable to add muscle - can easily see him gaining another 5 kgs in 8/9 months with our dieticians and weight specialist really doing good things

Half way through next year debut? I've been ****ing around this week saying he should debut this week but next years midway point would be a good goal for him I'd imagine. Should be slaughtering VFL by then.

He still looks like he's 85 ... Maybe he's carrying a Robbie Nahas downstairs

To be fair to Lycett, not only is he getting games but he also looks a great prospect. Considering he is both young and has to compete with Cox and NN, allowing him time to develop is hardly indicative of him being no good.

I would rate him as one of he better young ruck prospects in the league and think he has immense talent.

Just got Battersby. Wanted McStay as a tall. But he got stolen. As did Giles and I didn't really rate any others. I got what I'd consider 3 first round talents :p

I need a ******* tall though.
Nooooooooooooo massive tool!!! I went to school with him and Boyd. Mcstay is a massive waynekerr and does not suit our resent recruiting policy of drafting smart young men. Definitely a big no! I hope we Mcstay the hell away from him!! Although his sister is MINT ;)

Haven't heard the w***er claims but agree entirely on his sister. Sat next to her at one of the champs games :p

Just looked at some profiles of draft prospects
1st Rounder: Christian Salem is growing on me, we need a Pendlebury type
2nd Rounder/3rd Rounder: Apeness, who has a Boyd type build and plays ruck/forward would be able to allow Vickery to play first ruck more often - provides second and third efforts and doesnt mind a tackle. Only problem is his consistency over four quarters, but with a few pre-seasons he'd be able to build up a good tank.
2nd Rounder/3rd Rounder: Dayle Garlett, only knock on him is his defensive game

Salem is a jet. We really like him. 2 problems though are that we may not have a pick (Adams) and he is likely gone before our pick anyway.

In regards to Garlett, defensive game is getting better and better and defensive side is an issue with majority of juniors. But that's not really the knock on him. :p

Are you sure? Isn't tackling one of his weaknesses?
Any news on him? Do you think his work ethic and change in attitude is genuine or do you think its an act?
