Boyd but I think Leon Cameron wants Boyd. Though Scharenberg is a good fit.

If rumours about Patton are true I'd imagine they'll take Boyd. The Scharenberg thing was told to me a while ago, and whilst I trust my source completely, I don't know how reliable it is now. Either way, we'll get a gun.

Here's an interesting hypothetical.
Martin goes to Melb - we get pick 2.
Word is that if GWS keep pick 1, they'll take Scharenberg.
This gives us free access to either Aish or Boyd.
Who would you pick and why?
I would love to get Aish but at the same time a Gun Foward like Boyd would be fantastic as well
Hard Choice

Aish. If we had pick one I'd still take Aish. I personally think Boyd is far too slow for the level.

Fair call. I'd take Boyd because he'd make our forward line amazing and unleash Jack. But that is the one knock on him for mine. Boyd, Jack, McBean. :o

First focus on the defence, then the midfield, then the forward line.

I'd say we maybe need one more small defender, but I think we have the young players in reserve for this.

We already needed an inside midfielder and might need another with Foley being shopped around. On top of that we've just taken a massive hit in terms of top end with Martin. We need to replenish the top end (Aish) and get another two midfielders for seniors. One of those will hopefully be Adams and hopefully Helbig/McDonough/Arnot can step up next year. I'm tipping Helbig.

Forward line could do with someone like Boyd but it's not a pressing issue. Especially with our trio of promising forwards in McBean, Griffiths and Elton.

Agree we need another smaller defender. The forward line is probably fine in terms of talls. Though if Boyd is sitting there I think he is best available and the club would take him. Might make Vickery tradeable eventually or turn him into a ruck. Can get a mid out of that if we're desperate.

How do they compare to Griffiths in terms of speed?? I know they obviously have a better competitiveness.

Also if Hogan were available would you take him over Boyd??

I'd go Boyd. Though we'd probably prefer a Hogan type if we're being picky.

And Rory Lobb now likely goes first round :(

If Grundy and Lobb go about the same time, then the world has gone mad. I mean last year the recruiters basically turned their back on ruckmen and now they're okay with drafting guys like Lobb in the first round? I mean Lobb is okay but he's not even the best ruckman from WA, let alone the whole draft.

Scharenberg reminds me of Goddard when I've seen him play (just the champs, but still) he'll be good, but he reminds me of Goddard and I think he'll have a similar career to him. He'll be one of the most talented players in the league, but not necessarily one of the best. He'll win a few AA nomination playing on a flank, but never in the midfield. He'll be seen as the most talented player on his team without having that much output, partly because he'll be tagged. Aish reminds me of Dal Santo, and I think Dal Santo is a better player and has a better career. I realise the danger of trying to decide which player to pick based on the success of the players they mimic, afterall, Scharenberg does remind me of Goddard, but he isn't Goddard, but I'd be taking Aish out of those two. Aish seems an obvious pick, especially given Richmond actually has some inside midfielders. Boyd is mightily tempting, and from a marketing standpoint alone, it would be hard to reject him (imagine if Richmond got Boyd and Sheed? Martin would become an afterthought). Richmond would go from having a fairly weak forwardline to a scary one.

I worry though that Richmond wont get this as either he'll stay and cause Richmond headaches in the future or Richmond will get screwed over. I'm kinda sick of Martin right now, and in terms of the future, Aish or Boyd > Martin IMO. Would get rid of our biggest problem in one foul swoop. Martin seems to be immensely talented but is unwilling to push himself. Would Aish be willing to put in the hard yards? Seems so.

no way we will get pick 2.
Melb has pulled out of the race for Martin.

its looking more likely he will go to GWS or stay with us.
surley he wouldnt go to the lions. if he does..he truly is a F-Witt
