I agree Grockadoc, he is definitely a second or third tall rather than the #1 ruck. Concerning our lack of rucks. Maric is good temporarily and Big O might have another year in him. Vickery is our best ruck in my opinion, but the club probably wants him up forward. Mcbean seems to be developing as a forward more as well.
Nankervis's around the ground efforts are great, he is good overhead, runs both ways and has a good footy brain. Nankervis is unique, I don't know anyone in the AFL who plays like he does, he just plays to his strengths and does it well (very different to Vickery).
I'd Rather him than another skinny tall kid, cos we already have Mcbean.

While I think Vicks had an awesome year, he is clearly not our best ruck and I don't see him pushing for all Australian honours th way maric did last year. On th other hand he probably doesn't need to do much more than what he does, start forward and be more than handy in the relief ruck role...IMO

Why does everyone think we are going to give up Pick 11 for Adams? I am 99% certain that GWS will not accept picks for their players as they have too much young talent as it is. We will have to give up established player(s) to get him IMO.

They will because they still have to have 3 picks in the draft. They already have 1,9,19 etc so if they can have those 3 picks as high as possible then they will bracket other picks to get even higher.

He is the exact type Francis Jackson has taken as a first rounder. Not the most talented, exciting prospect, but he is a solid contributor with a team first attitude and unless injuries prevent it, will be a 200+ gamer. He is the safe option at our pick, and is in the same mould as Vlastuin, Conca and Ellis in terms of commitment, attitude and work ethic.

I think FJ will take him, as he seems to be the type of player that he loves, but if Sheed or Freeman are there, I'd hope we take one of them ahead of Salem. Sheed probably won't be, as West Coast are heavily into him with Pick 6, so between Salem and Freeman, I'd hope we take Freeman, but wouldn't be unhappy Salem, similar to Grundy/Vlas last year. Wanted Grundy, but happy we got Vlas.

Yeah I'm fairly happy taking low-risk midfielders in the first round, it seems to be working.

Salem doesn't sound like a player you can build a team around but just a very solid addition.

just needs to take a few more contested Marks and he'll be right, a full pre season this year after a significant injury so no reason why he can't be back to '11 form next year

I would like to see a few risks taken LATE in the draft, perhaps a small forward that is fast and is applies high levels of defensive pressure, but can also kick the ball well.. Could be raw and need time to develop, but as a side we lack that defensive aspect deep in the forward line, every side has one.. Fremantle has two: Ballantyne and Walters, Hawthorn: Rioli & Bruest (read off the pack) to a certain extent and you see the importance of them (Rioli's tackles) in terms of the result of the game.. I feel like taking that low risk first round to look for a midfielder/ halfback or forward, but risks need to be taken as the draft progresses...

Marsh's time makes him really tempting I think. 191 forward wing who can run that quick could be a weapon ala Gary Rohan as playing forward in the last quarter against Freo.

Really warming to Salem, that "really good honest player but might not be a star" tag has been on both ellis and vlossy by different people over the last few years and I'd back him to become a really good player

That said if we don't land ellis, Crouch/Sheed/Dunstan will become a lot more tempting
