After being overlooked in the 2012 National Draft, Tom Langdon put his head down, and bum up as he was re-invited back to the Sandringham Dragons as one of their 19 year old players in their TAC Cup team, for another crack at his dream of playing AFL Footy. Although Langdon was stationed predominately across defence in 2012, averaging 18 possessions across the TAC Cup season last year, Langdon – now a co-captain at the Dragons - has grabbed his second chance with both hands, and has become a versatile utility, who has relished more midfield time in 2013, an area of his game which surely has impressed onlooking recruiters. Langdon, put simply – is a beautiful size for the modern game. He’s a tall midfielder, best suited to play as an outside type, but has demonstrated on numerous occasions his ability to win his own ball, and it’s his physical and combative style of play that saw him stamp his authority as one of, if not the best 19 year-old TAC Cup Prospect in 2013. The most impressive trait of Langdon’s, is his ability to push forward and impact on the scoreboard, and get involved in scoring chains, proving to be an important avenue to goal. Ahead of last year’s draft, Langdon tipped the scales at 80kgs with a height of 184cms. His development has been radical, he’s put on an extra 4kgs in the gym, and has shot up a further 5cms to become virtually a different player. Playing nine super consistent games for the Dragons in 2013, Langdon was called up to Sandringham’s VFL side, and since making his debut he has cemented his spot with the Zebras, to which he is currently averaging 19 disposals, 4 marks and 2 clearances at VFL level.

12 is a reach. He is too small and too outside.

I've written a lot on this the last month or so but outside players have a far higher failure rate early in the draft and an undersized outside player who do not have extreme speed (he didn't finish top 10 of 20 meter sprint or repeat sprints, he may have missed them but he did smash the beep test time) have way too much to overcome especially at pick 12. There is essentially only one player of this type in the league and its Brett Harvey.

Hartung at 12 is definitely too early, I wouldn't mind us taking Wilson at pick 50. Adresses a need.

It was 16.6. No doubt he is a freak runner and a beautiful kick of the ball. But the outside space that exists in junior level and even VFL just is not there at AFL level.

I'd take him in the 20's but not earlier.

Played with chris cain in school footy and against him in the EFL ... always thought he had talent but havnt seen him in recent years (don't really watch vfl) ... when i used to play with him was was very much an inside mid ... anyone know if he has added anything to his game to warrant drafting?

Hmm, Hartung is a reach at 12 IMO. Every chance he'll Cale Morton it at senior level

I like the Cain selection, but think he'll be available later. Giles and Brown will both be gone by their respective picks IMO. Brown's combine results may have pushed him into second round calculations

This year is not the time to do a reece conca and take a kid too early like Hartung. It's either Aish, Salem or Acres. Anything else and i'll be fed up.

And why do people have us with pick 46? Don't we have pick 50?

Wilson at pick 50 would be a steal I reckon. If we can develop his consistency he'll go alright.
