OMG I'M THE SAME WEIGHT AS HIM!!! however i'm like 15cm smaller than him.
He should be considered a McBean. I don't think weight would be an issue, because clubs usually have regimes and programs set in place. He would be a project but i think whoever picks him up and bulks him up good, while at the same time maintaining his athleticism he could be a good player. In a couple years.

He's very thin though. Some guys are thin like Templeton who have a body to put weight on. Bourne looks like he may struggle to. I'd rookie him though because the talent is there.

I was 68kgs at the start of last year, and not all the weight I put on was fat ;)

Of course it wasn't. :rolleyes::p

Like I was saying with say Templeton who was 67kg, he had a frame he could put it on. Bourne has shoulders of a 4yo. :D

One guy who is in my top 20 and I think would really suit us as he reminds me of a young Rob Murphy is Darcy Byrne-Jones. Not much chat about him.

Saw him in a few metro and oakleigh games this year. My concern about Byrne-Jones is that he's not tall, or fast. He's got a nice kick, is poised and can defend. I don't see Murphy's attacking skills or versatility though, Murphy is around Enright height, but DBJ isn't. I see DBJ as a slight upgrade on Matt Dea, who I'm hoping will crack into the team. I feel like the staff underrate Dea a fair bit. At the moment he's one of many who could be picked up at 50, but does Richmond need a smallish HBF over a HFF? I wouldn't be adverse to picking him up with say 68, if that's a live pick.

Kids a gun. I mentioned him a little while ago. He's more a rookie prospect if he goes at all because he's so skinny. One of my favourites of the small forwards.

Super soft and outside though. Not sure he would meet hardwicks competitive and go when its your turn policy.

Maybe not. But hey Grigg gets a game. Houli too before he made improvements in that area.

He's pretty quick. Ran a 2.94 20m sprint, finishing in top 11%.

Tested outstanding in everything including a massive beep.

He would be a project...
I think this is the way the club will go this year... in fact I think I've read/heard as much (although not sure if it was said directly by the club). I.e. players after pick 12 are going to be highly speculative, so the club will be looking for "project players"... guys who have deficiencies, but also have a little bit of "something" about them that we could hopefully bring out with patience, development, and a bit of good luck!

Huh, that surprises me, I didn't notice him being that quick, although I saw him doing mainly defensive jobs where you don't really get to show your pace that much. Still, my concern stands, I just wonder whether he's necessary given Richmond already has Morris and Dea. I mean Richmond only have 3 picks, 2 of which are in a terrible position, so they have to nail them. But this draft is really shallow, so I do wonder if anyone would be better at 50 than him.

You said you wouldn't be surprised if Crouch is undrafted, why is that? I didn't think he was that bad, although I'm not massive fan of him.

I'll explain more in my article on Monday but the consensus is;

- slow
- unfit
- no defence
- 'hoof-ball' style (doesn't look where he's kicking, his clearances are ineffective)
- not adaptable to AFL unless he changes his game
- does not suit the modern game because of lack of aerobic capacity

Sorry I'm on my phone hence short replies.

interested where you rate Lennon?? as draft combine showed he is also a lot of the thing you say is wrong with Crouch except he his a beautiful kick and strong mark.

Hoof ball style also known as the Pettered special :P

I have Lennon in the early teens but that's not without massive reservations as you mentioned athletically.

Lennon has a high football IQ, nice kick (not elite) and very good mark. That's already three things he has over Crouch.

Problem is if Lennon wants to be a midfielder or even a high half forward he needs to build his tank. His vo2 results suggests there's some scope to improve.

Do you think he could improve his aerobic capacity? He ran a 13.46 in the beep which is rubbish considering he wants to be an inside midfielder, and inside midfielders need a big tank. I am curious about the claim that he has no defense though, in the games I saw at the tac cup he seemed to tackle well and tackle often.

My biggest problem with Crouch is that he's a turnover merchant, so I definitely agree with the hoof ball comments. And when he does look at where he's kicking, it's either a short safe pass or an over/undercooked pass to someone downfield. His kicking is generally Matt Priddis on a bad day. I have a feeling that Hardwick wont touch him with a ten foot barge pole, and the fact that some other clubs rate him highly shows how varied the opinions on the players within the draft are. Knightmare has ranked him as the fourth best player in the draft, something which I've expressed my disapproval of before. :p

At the moment Lennon strikes be as a bit of a one trick pony, I'll be happy to be proved wrong but clubs drafting Lennon probably hope he becomes the next Mayes, forgetting the fact that Mayes was a better talent.

I'm starting to think that Richmond should just take Salem and run. He can tackle, he can kick and his endurance is pretty decent, so that suggests he can be a 150+ game player. Has less flaws than many other similarly ranked players.

At this stage it's the pick after. I guess we could sign a delisted player though and then it would be 68 as it would take away a list spot.
any news on M.Thomas? we still keen? i not heard anything since before trade period began

Hey guys, not sure if its been mentioned or if its right place to do so but thought you might be itnerested to know Chris Michaliades from Sandringham has been invited to train with you guys in lead up to rookie draft.

Chris is small forward/midfielder. Kicked 21 goals this year, played in state game and spent fair amount time in midfield. I've wanted Saints to rookie him as he has enormous upside. You know he'll give you 110% every contest, we call him the energiser bunny the way he jumps around on mark and all that.

Profile - http://truezebras.net/2012/12/08/chris-michaliades/

Interview i did with him earlier this year - http://truezebras.net/2013/01/31/chris-michaliades-working-hard-on-achieving-dream/

Any questions im happy to answer them, just try tag me in post so I get a notification as probably wont check back that often and rather answer as quickly as possible for you.

Check my edit to that post. Definitely only have one account and have done since 2001. ;)

I would take the risk at Pick 50, not at Pick 12. That is my take. I think we now are strong enough to handle him. With Chocco, Luke Murray at the club and NLM looking like joining our VFL team, we have the support for him.

He is pure silk. One of the most exciting juniors I can remember.

Holy crap, you've been here since 2001?

Old silly. :D

Problem is that there is now a fair chance he's not there (Demons @9 and Pies @ 10 are both keen, apparently).
