I'm worried about Acres injuries.
Would you be worried about Aish's injuries. He had his shoulder done and Acres had his shoulder done. The only difference is Acres had his done mid season and Aish had his done prior and missed games at the start. If Aish or Acres where avaibale at a pick would prior injuries bother me? No. The problem seems to be Acres hasn't played enough football in this year and clubs might be scared to make a descion to pick him when there are safer bets to pick from. The club that takes Acres between 12-20 will be getting a bargin

Magic, with due respect, how the hell can you judge these players when you haven't actually seen them play? Seriously, it's weird
Pretty standard with Mr_Magic. Reading phantom drafts and the newspaper makes him an expert, and he'll drag this out all season.

Also, his "vision" is indeed youtube clips, hard as that is to believe. I also enjoy the fact that he will debate with phantom drafters, based on expertise gleaned from reding phantom drafts.

I just took a look at Zak Jones' highlights reel on the AFL website. It's all vision from his Champs where he played off-half back.

Of course views are going to be flawed. Put in a highlight reel of his preliminary final (which was my favourite game by any draftee this season) or anything from his last eight or so weeks in the TAC Cup and I reckon most of this board would be drooling.

you may have a point but what can one do?? You can only draw primarily on what one sees

all I can say is if KP is right then the draft hub highlights are flawed by not including TAC cup material. Not my problem if they put in the wrong highlights:rolleyes:

by the way expert, I have never read a newspaper for over a decade a least, not worth the price they charge:p

at least kp has enough respect and self confidence to base his argument on separate TAC form, which is fair enough, hats of to him:thumbsu: and the forum is more informed as a result!!

I tend to like guys that have stood the test of time. Guys that have been touted as good footballers for a few years not just a few games.
Case in point. Luke Parker of the Swans. He was being talked about for a couple of years before he was drafted. He then was picked up late by Sydney (?40). Most picks at that stage fail but I knew he wouldn't. A guy with his junior reputation just doesn't lose ability overnight. He is now a useful player who is important to the Swans.
I am a bit wary of the guy that pulls out a few good performances at the end. He may be ok but my money is on the guy with the runs on the board.

How the hell do you know this without interviewing him? You have made this up. And if your asking him about handballing then you don't know him at all and cant then have an informed opinion of him.

First of all anyone placing emphasis on interviews these days, like using references, are putting their hand up for candidates for a lunatic asylum IMO because what can be presented may well be BS that sounds like gold and is simply what the viewer wants to here. IMO the best way to analyse leadership is to evaluate how they play on the field an interact with their team leading them including through action!

As far as leadership is concerned it was brought up in relation to others equivalent to pick 12 like Sheed, Dunstan, Vlastuin of years past. I agree he may have great leadership but who knows , he isn't a Captain is he unlike others which we can draw on? Likewise Dunstan is a good handballer. Jones hasn't been labelled as such in commentary I have seen. If Jones is a great handballer all I can suggest is kick the commentators up the a... for those that have seen him and cannot express themselves about what they see more vividly and informatively for the audience they are presenting to!!!

BTW, if bigfooty info is crap which I am relying on apart from afl.com.au highlights , why are you even debating me??o_O lodge a complaint with afl.com.au about bias if you feel so inclined!

as kp rightly pointed out the highlights at afl.com.au are predominately about his backline play with next to no handballs particularly in line as a inside mid!! With no other vision how do I know what I don't know if the website has not apparently shown his true highlights if they are with him as an inside mid? If you think the afl.com.au highlights are misleading, please say so!

Magic, what's weird is that you're attempting to form these comprehensive opinions on players through BF heresay and 3 minutes of highlights, when that's hardly anything really. That kind of stuff is so limited it can easily distort reality. You're conclusively professing we shouldn't go for a guy like Jones despite having seen so little of him. I don't get it, why not just say you need to see more?

Bigfooty info is crap when it contains only a persons opinion on the way another poster has reviewed a player or the 1% of game time that is shown in highlights

Well I guess I was placing too much emphasis on the integrity of afl.com.au when if they say the players highlights are their highlights when apparently they may not be!

BTW, like it or not kp's opinion about Jones TAC form in later matches may be true but at the moment it constitutes here say!

The point is when you look at a number of different posters you in theory should cover a few bases.

If kp is correct it sounds like the media's coverage of the draft , not just bigfooty, including afl.com.au is largely uninformative and amateurish!

Amen.

Give me Jones in front of Freeman.

Brett Anderson from Inside Football has us getting:
12. Lennon - medium forward/midfielder
50. Byrne-Jones - small defender
66. Wilson - small forward/midfielder

Is there a chance we could get Ben Cavarra at pick 50?

Yes he is short but he is a gun! He is Vic Metro captain. Wasn't their captain last year Vlaustin?

If this kid is available at 50 we must take him

_kp_ just read on your twitter Garlett not getting drafted?? How many interviews has he missed? has he done something bad the last week or two?

Been the case all season. Missed interviews with a few clubs. Media pumping him up is a beat-up.

I wonder if the Hawks got anything out of Garlett not turning up to his interview with them. Or maybe the Hawks place no emphasis on this as they have seen him play WAFL and everything else is wallpaper.

Lunatic asylum indeed.

Your first problem us that you're assuming that the AFL.com.au highlights are designed to be conclusive (and therefore you've assumed you can fully gauge a players game from this).

And someone views his live games, showing some of the things you're saying he needed to show to warrant selection is 'heresy'? Yet a 3 minute highlight clip and write ups from phantom draft writers is the basis of your arguments? Do you even get where I'm going here?!

Or this could be all smoke and mirrors

Hawks select Garlett with there 3rd round selection
