I would include O'Hanlon with that group also.

He was the year before. But you're right. We've added 9 with him and Elton the year before. 9 forward types in 3 years. Definitely been an area of weakness and when these guys mature we should have enough quality to be contenders.

I would imagine whoever slipped if Salem, Lennon and Jones were picked before us we would have picked. Doubt the likes of Acres and Dunstan really came into play as we prob knew we were greeting a slider if we missed those 3.

I find it interesting that FJ said it nearly all went to plan. Can only imagine Lennon was part of the plan so who out of the other two wasn't the first choice.

With the little footage I have seen Lloyd looks more like a rookie type to me. Love for him to prove me wrong but looks a fair way off.

FJ really didn't rate the kids to go for two 23 year olds in the Nat draft.

Got a feeling we may have picked Garlett at 50. No reason just a suspicion as an observer, I might be wrong

Im just praying that we look to take kids with the Rookie selections like
Cameron,Wilson,Bourke,Sokol, etc etc

I would be extremely dissapointed if we take Thomas,Batsanis,Bathie which would mean that we effectively only took 1 player under 23 and tbh mostly already tried players that were delisted from other clubs - We are not at the stage to be " topping up" and "locked or loaded" as some great list managers put it

Highly doubt that we would take all three, of the three I would most like us to take Batsanis, could provide some good outside depth to the team, although Bathie would be a good depth player for the young developing talls and in the case of injury occurring to a best 22 KP.
Hoping for one of Templeton, Bourke or Isiah Miller.

Not sure why people are worried about the last 2. Training for VFL side.

I really hope so tig's thomas should also be only in contention for the Vfl side , Really cant see how he could improve our team just looks like a backup for Morris but does he have the defensive game to play morris's role

Agree, hopefully with 2 x 23yo's happening to be our draftees (wasn't a set plan) we won't necessarily take him. (Hopefully haven't promised him a spot.)

Wouldn't mind Batsanis, but to have Bathie and Thomas? We've already got a plethora of talls in Mcbean, Elton, Griffiths, Astbury, Batchelor and Hampson.
We need some untried talent like Wilson, C. Cameron, Bourke, or Templeton.

Won't take either. Add Tsitas to your list. Will work his arse off to succeed ala Nathan Foley. Another Falcons mid on the rookie list can't be a bad thing after Foley's success.

Footballers > Athletes

You can make footballers athletes but you can't make athletes truly footballers.

Sorry if this has already been asked but.... Can someone explain to me why Richmond used pick 66 (Sam Lloyd) then passed the next two before upgrading Petterd? Why didn't they just upgrade him with the one after Lloyd?

I thought it was because clubs already lock in that last pick as a rookie upgrade before the draft starts and then proceed to take their picks. ie. Petterd was locked in pre-draft at 93 rather than 78 in case we wanted to use 78. But then some clubs upgraded straight after their pick and then passed later. So its got me stumped.

The petterd upgrade pick was pre arranged I think? Someone correct me if I'm wrong

Yeah... I'm also stumped... wouldn't have anything to do with wage would it?

Just looking at the draft tracker on HSAFL now and it seems as though (like tigs2010 mentioned) some clubs passed then upgraded and vice versa. Maybe the ones that had the "gaps" just weren't as sure as to how many picks they would use in the draft. Still a little confused.

I think it has got to do with the number of picks allocated to a club by the afl considering how many positions are open and the tpp ie some clubs only had 3 picks available. So bearing this in mind I would say we have the ability to pay for the 6 rounds and 6 selections but chose to only use 3 but the last pick allocated was the upgrade done before the draft.

Some clubs were allocated more picks too but upgraded before the pass.
