I didn't get there until about 9:45. Pitt, Sheridan, Faulks and Moller where doing laps. Moller on his own and the other 3 together. Then about 10:00 Moller was having shots for goal while the other 3 were doing some kick to kick before joining him. One thing I have noticed about Moller's kicking is that he holds the ball high like Johnson but he seems to drop it at it's highest point. I'd try and change that if I were Suma but it seemed to work okay for him. They disappeared about 10:30.

It was quite windy so the skills weren't the best at times. It seemed to me like some of the boys were trying to over compensate for the breeze at times and the ball was holding up. Son Son was still brilliant and the one target he missed he let out a massive f**** off that could probably have been heard a couple of kms away.

Danyle Pearce has a massive kick. He had a shot from about 55 off 2 steps that went in post height (albeit with some wind assistance). His skills in the drills were a bit poor though.

Ballas was a bit poor as well with his kicking. There was one moment where he tried to take on Schloith but couldn't get around him. Schloith got a big rap for that from Ross.

Off the top of my head I couldn't see Pav, Chopper, Mcpharlin, Crowley or Zac Dawson. I think the rest were there.

During the running the players were split into 3 groups (elite, average and slow). The slower runners were mainly the ruckmen. The elite gorup off the top of my head were Suban, Hill, Menegola, Ibbo, Sutcliffe and Muzungu.

I can see why DeBoer is winning the best clubman every year and a strong candidate for next captain. He was really vocal during the running trying to get everyone to keep going.

That's about it from me.

Not sure about Menegola for Sub, if he good enough give him a full game.
He's not an impact player like Crozier and Sutcliffe that can come off the bench and be quick off the mark.

Schloithe, Taberner, Moller and Howson will have to wait a massive amount of injuries to get a promotion.

They're not going to elevate someone immediately, surely. One positive out of this is there's a senior spot up for grabs and each rookie has the preseason to make his case.

Good on you gaskin. Great report.

One thing in particular interested me...

The bolded is another very good sign. That's a great group of runners for Suban to be sitting amongst.

Or conversly could be a really really bad sign about everyone else..........

From all the photos i have seen of suban over the summer, he appears to have slimmed down. I.e. the Perth cup pics on twitter so am not surprised he running well.

Got to take some positives where I can at the moment...

Lukey Mac was doing some run throughs and laps before disappearing.

Griff, Sandi and Zac Clarke were doing some ruck and clearance work with Danyle Pearce.

None of the new draftees were down there today as well as off the top of my head Pav, Mundy, Fyfe, Duffield, Zac Dawson, Mayne, Crowley, Menegola and Forster. I may have missed 1 or 2. A few of the players disappeared for the running at the end.

Other than that I would just be repeating myself from Wednesday.

Training Report Friday 11th Jan

I arrived today at 8:30 and watched a number of players jogging laps and doing repeat sprints. The group comprised of Pav (who looked to be running fairly well), Dawson, Crowly, Fyfe, Duffy and Mayne.

Mayne pushed hard while running and I think most of these guys are doing a lot of gym work and some running to get their bodies in shape for the season. Most didn’t look injured, obviously Pav is recovering from an op and Crowly has an injured pec.

The Main Group:

Still the new recruits not on the track except for D. Pearce. They may be doing weights etc… C. Pearce was also not on the track today.

The boys started with their usual warm up and kicking/ handball drills then went into a kicking breaking the lines drill. To finish with a match sim corridor work in close drill followed by some repeat 100 metre run throughs.

During the match sim Walters was a clear standout. His kicking was precise and his work in traffic was exceptional. At one time he weaved through three players who incredibly could not lay a tackle on him and allowed a number of his team mates to push forward and become free. He was also extremely vocal and good defensively setting a clear benchmark that was a pleasure to watch.

The other notable mentions were the fitness of Sandi, Griffin and Clarke.

Overall a good session with a lot of good inside skill work. The players did not structure up so much as forward/back and mids but more as a team who were to help each other out in close and work hard in traffic to get the ball forward.

All those guys listed trained earlier apart from Menengola and Forster.

This makes me a happy man

Nice report, but you omitted whether Walters beat Neale in the 3k
