You know a mid premium doesnt get extra points for being a mid, they score the same as a forward of comparitive price....

I just think looking at it as "mids score higher" is a simplistic view of the game.
I'm not sure I said anything about getting extra points for being a midfielder, strange comment. But there looks to be a lack of decent premo options up forward to me (not many jump out at me personally)....

I'm willing to bet that the majority of the top scorers in the game will be midfielders (like every other year)....is that not a fair assumption?

Hi all,

I've been reading through this thread, and made a few changes to my lineup so far.
Might make a few more changes after the Pre-Season. How's it looking now?
Hey mate,
It's not a bad team, but the problem is you're missing out on premiums because you've opted to go for mid-pricers rather than rookies in some positions. Downgrade LeCras to Macaffer (will score similarly and save you a heap of cash); Broughton to Pittard (to save some money; too many premos down back); Pavlich to a forward premium who's a bit cheaper like Martin or Wright (just to save some cash - shouldn't score that differently) score around the same; Lonergan to a cheaper rookie. That'll give you some cash. First, spend it on your midfield - you only have two proven scorers in there, in Ablett and Cotchin. Some people on here have six. You'd want to upgrade Fyfe and Ball first, then maybe Wines back to Ball if you've got the cash. Then it looks like a strong team.
All the best. :thumbsu:

Pretty solid effort, but i'd be concerned about Sandilands (out for the ist 4 rounds or something) and Pavlich who has had an interrupted pre season :thumbsu:

Swap Broughton and Watts it doesnt do anything just makes your team look more balanced haha

Lecras to Macaffer
Ball to pendles or boyd or beams
If you want you could get a little extra cash downgrading sandi to goldy krooze bellchambers warnock etc and either upgrade ball to swan or leave ball and upgrade Embley to a 500k player
Or upgrade fyfe and ball to Murphy pendles jelwood mitchell types

I'd agree with everything besides this point about Nathan Fyfe. I look at Fyfe as a potential elite DT player, he only needs to have his shoulder hold up so he can play the whole season and he will be a big deal this year.

The operation he had has a 2% chance of dislocation, or something of that order, it is a very small chance.

The value of the Fyfe pick is understated. The risk associated with his shoulder is overstated. I have as much confidence in Fyfe's ability to play the whole season as I do any other AFL player now, excluding Adam Cooney etc.

I agree with you, but he's hardly a proven premo - with a midfield of only Ablett and Cotchin in that category, I'm not sure Fyfe is the sort of pick you'd want to make.

Of course, all just my opinion though.

Go and look at his stats
Hes not elite
Hes a solid 90-100 player but he rarely scores higher

Elite in the forward line not in the mids

You may well be correct and no-one argues that Fyfe is an outstanding player. But he hasn't proven anything in terms of DT performance and durability. He just hasn't... But this time last year, neither had Beams, Dangerfield, Sidebottom etc.... This year could well be Fyfe's year...

I've had Fyfe in and out of my side all the pre-season because he has so much potential.... But the more I think about it, I'm trying to get a side that has as many players as possible playing every week. That way I'm not sideways trading, just downgrade/upgrade until my side is fixed. Fyfe is a risk to this, and until I see him play a few weeks in a row, I'm not convinced that he fits that category....

But again, I was wrong in about 20 seconds on a previous thread, this could be the same....

Thinking of going with 5 premo (Fyfe counted as a premo) and 3 rookie mids on the field, and then having 5 premo forwards and 1 rookie on the field. Thoughts?

Sounds good. Although, with the amount of information you've provided - it's a bit useless.... :p

For example - I could say that I'm going with a 6 premium backs, 8 premium mids, 2 premium rucks and 6 premium forwards..... But it's bloody hard to fit in the salary cap right now....;)

Post your side and we'll critique it....

Thinking about Tom Murphy from GC. I have a lot of cash after putting a mid pricer in my team for Murphy. it kinda changed the structure so I have 150k sitting here doing nothing.

Need some thoughts

Thoughts on both and which team is the better option?
Stop reading my mind! Both teams look really good. I prefer Heppell over Broughton though. Everything else I like them all!

You also don't have Wines in either side...

But I don't know where to tell you to get the extra $$ to turn Lonergan into Wines. Maybe in team 2 could go Pendles -> cheaper premo. e.g. Murphy.

Definitely like team 1 better. Not keen on Kennedy or Broughton (team 2). In fact team 1 looks like an absolte cracker. One problem though, all your premo mids (top 4) have same bye.

Side note.
Everyone's jumping on Goodes. Is he being promoted to senior list?

Maybe try moving Goodes to a Mid spot so you get a DPP on Gibbs and Goddard. Gives you coverage when you have so many rookie mids.
I can see where you're going with this team structurally though, and it looks ok.

Good comment on the byes if you're planning to keep all your expensive/premium types.

Goodes is the only rookie (I think) for the Dogs playing in Wk 2 of the NAB (after already playing week 1) which suggests he's the most likely candidate for elevation.
