Him being dangerous up forward has no affect for why they'd sub Cox off. Cox isn't going to ever be subbed off because he isn't doing enough during a game, he'd be subbed off because they'd rather rest him up a little so he's fresher for the following match.I'm not arguing that Cox wont be rested once, maybe even twice this year. I just don't see him as a vest candidate, especially since he's a dangerous forward whilst resting there. Comparing him to other older and or injury prone players doesn't make your argument valid, since some guys are more durable than others, even in old age. Sandi & Kerr are both poor comparisons in this instance.
For example, Steve Johnson was subbed off during the 3rd quarter against Essendon last year, being best on ground before being subbed off (22 disposals and 2 goals) without being injured (played the following week). Geelong would have done this as part of their list management I assume (since the game was well and truly won). We saw West Coast do it last year with Kerr (an older midfielder who is extremely important to their side (like Cox)). Again, I don't think it's that likely he'll be subbed off as it looks like ~50% of subs go to players that get injured during the game then you'd also need WCE to be in the right position during the match (easily winning) and the right time in the season where they believe Cox could do with a rest. But some of you guys have attacked the guy that suggested that like he knows nothing and there's no chance in hell of that happening which I disagree with.
Might say a bit about the Freo side as well. The way theyre playing they wont be resting anyone they'll be scraping every point to the last minute
Both strong chances for a top 4 placing considering you'd pencil them in to win just about every one of their home games.
Agreed in the first half of the season but come the tail end when Naitanui would be over his injuries (assuming everything goes to plan for him/WCE) that might change with some of their older guys.Id say they are more likely to rest nicnat who has done a week if training over someone like cox who has had a superb ps
Again, being rested is a hell of a lot better then only getting half a game off.
