will be interesting to see how it unfolds - with the ball being reintroduced back into play quicker it may favour the big tanked players...

Yeah. I currently have Big Wilber Minson as my #1 ruck, but I'm wondering if he'll drop output due to being a more physical, less mobile type. I need to do some searching to see how his points were generated last year and see what the potential impact is. I think he led the league for hit outs (and sledging), so it'll be interesting to watch...

Was just posted on the Eagles board that Lycett's WAFL club has been told that he won't be available much in the first half of the season. Naitanui is on track to return round 2 or so but Lycett will still get games as WC plan to manage Cox early in the season. Bad news for Cox owners if true. Might make me seriously consider a cheap ruck combo.

No links available. Just someone posting what I posted with apparent inside information at East Perth. May very well not be true but with Lycett showing some very good signs its not very hard to believe.

How do you justify taking out the score of 24? I am pretty sure he played the full game.

Why not take out the outlier score of 140?

Looking through rose coloured glasses could be your downfall. Just sayin.
You should re-read my post.

I provided two statistics that illustrated Petrie's +27.5 average without McIntosh. The footnote identifying an outlier was not integral to the stats provided, just a comment, that in my opinion illustrates he is undervalued. Why did I assess the performance as an outlier? Because over the course of his career when he is the #1 ruck, he has very rarely put in such a performance, and it was against Sandilands.

As someone alluded to after I posted, he had gastro going into the game. Source:http://www.watoday.com.au/afl/afl-news/dockers-force-a-passage-to-final-frontier-20120826-24u8n.html

I'm not keen on many rucks this year at all. Have Griffin&Leuey right now, with Cox in the fwds.
Also keen to see how zac smith goes, but apart from try...

I would like to point out that Goldstein has scored less than 30 points five times in his career while he has only scored 140+ twice in his career. Admittedly many of Goldstein's poor scores (less than 30) were earlier in his career but there are also plenty of other poor performances (less than 60) scattered throughout his career. Goldstein had scores of 55, 59, 24, 60, 52 last year while McIntosh was not even playing.

Leaving the score of 140 in his average while taking out the so called outlier of 24 is just manipulation of the data to help you justify the selection. The gastro is unfortunate but it just goes to show that North Melbourne will use their important key position players even when ill and Goldstein happens to play for North Melbourne. What's to say it would not happen again?

In the words of Mark Twain: "There are lies, damned lies and statistics."

I don't think that Goldstein is a bad selection but I also don't believe he is a great selection this year with Currie banging on the door and Majak Daw taking it to another level. He certainly did himself no favours in the first round of the Nab Cup.

today i'm leaning towards goldstein again  but using the extra cash to upgrade in the fwds...
hopefully he has a ripping start to the season and i can sideways him and get off the ship as soon as possible.

Im going with Goldy and Berger at this stage
Although this weekend could change my mind with the man im liking to change to Zac smith will ruck against each other!

I've gone with HMac and Hale, with Hille on the bench as a backup. It's a bit more versatile than going with 2 pure rucks, as I can plug either a hole in my ruck division, or in my forward line.

you do realise that there is two trades a week available? seems a bit odd to have that much cash on the pine in round one

Sorry - I should have noted, my team is in the fantasyelite comp, not the dreamteam, where the scoring is the same, but we aren't under salary cap pressure.

You can attempt to manipulate my statement however you want, but that 140 figure you pulled out of your arse, and I did not use the removal of a game to justify my analysis. It was a footnote. Get over it.

"An order of Buttered Chicken Currie No.2 and a Bacon CheeseBerger deal thankyou you."

"That'll be $33.63 thankyou"

If both are named for R1 they will be my starting 2 rucks with Cox in the Fwd's and Macaffer on the fwd bench.
