Position 2013 Rucks

Go with Longer then straight swap to Luey when he comes back in...that or just go with 2 premo rucks and move on.
I thought of another curveball. Setanta is 157k and i would think he should play the first 3 or 4 games. After that he should go up to 200k + and whenever Leuy is about to play his 3rd game and go up in price I trade Leuy in for O'Hailpin. Lots of scenarios... If Currie plays Setanta will be on my bench too, so I won't have to rely too much on the Irish spud. Of course the benefit is spending 80k elsewhere.
I'm now starting to think that managing the rucks will be very important this year.

Brisbane being Brisbane people outside have very little idea about their actual players and team and think just because they are a bottom 6 side (2012) that a guy like Staker walks in no matter what when fit. But people dont realise the depth and the quality of guys like Karnezis, Beams, Green, Cornelius, Bewick, Lester and that they are fighting for very few remaining spots in the final 22 as it is.

That's not the case though. I didn't know about Voss saying that he will play that link up role but I really quite rate their side and think they contend for top 8 this year. I just think that Staker with his experience and skillset (a couple of knee recons may change this all) will eventually slot himself back in the team. I think he will be eased into it and played in the seconds until he is definitely ready but i think he will play a fair few games this year.

If Leuy does end up missing Rd1...is Minson worth starting with? Reckon he would dominate young Longer...40+ hitouts there for the taking...Doggies then play a Sandiless Freo @ Etihad in Rd2...collect early points then generate some cash by trading him out to Luey when he's looks ready..

What do you think Dannnnnnnnnn CrozaN TedDougChris is Wilbur upto it?

Absolutely. Has been pretty good without really getting out of first gear this pre-season. Would be my first picked premium ruck outside of Maric, Cox, Ryder.

He's my R1 at the moment, with Longer at R2.....

Why waste a trade on getting Leuey in for round 2? use it elsewhere eg- forwards or the midfield.

This is why you have Rowe in the rucks & cox in the forwards. Remember that league matchups don't start till round 3. Leuey will be back well by then.

To be honest, a vast majority of us don't stand a chance to win dreamteam overall.

I had Minson all last season. Played 21 games, was a solid performer (2012 avg: 86.6), raised his average by 13 points and had minimal competition for the Bulldogs R1 spot. Seriously thinking about him again. Just has the odd brain fade which can be frustrating.

Of course he is. Will again be our lone ruckman with Cordy/Campbell lending a helping hand from time to time. He is a great tap ruckmen and can gather possessions around the ground. My only concern with him is the amount of FA's he gives away...otherwise he is a solid pick. Should either maintain his 86 average or improve slightly.

I'm thinking of moving Cox into my rucks and then bringing in a Varcoe for Leuey. Should have enough spare money to bring one of them in. Then once Leuey returns and shows he is fit enough I trade him back in and move Cox back forward. That way rather than playing a player such as Longer I will have Varcoe.

Problem is, I really don't want to start another midpricer in my forward line as I already have Karnezis and Byrnes. Even if it is only for a couple of rounds.

That is if Currie isn't named as the lone ruck man round 1. If he is then will probably just start him and downgrade Leuey to a rookie.

Merrett said the travel presented no problems, despite a short turnaround that saw the Lions return from Melbourne on Sunday afternoon and head back on Thursday morning.
The club will play its strongest possible team in the final, including ruckman Matthew Leuenberger, on-baller Jack Redden and defender Matt Maguire who were all rested against Collingwood on the weekend.

a couple of price rises by Currie and sideways to the burger if the curry ain't hot enough!

That depends on what type of ruck structure north take into the season

2 pure ruckmen with a combination of petrie/hansen/tarrent/black up forward
1 pure ruckmen with petrie giving a chop out for 5-7 mins a quater

I think they will go with the 1 ruck and petrie giving a chop out, mainly because they will want to play 3 of petrie/hansen/black/tarrant up forward and if they go with goldy and currie then they will be too big and slow up forward, thus teams will easily rebound out of thier attacking 50

If that is the case, then i cant see Currie overtaking Goldy based on having 4 great games in the Nab Cup.
Will watch what north do with their team structure this week

Geelong have no rucks for Rd1..is it worth getting Roughy in? With his price & DP link he could easily be traded to SJ in the forwards once Berger is right to go...thoughts?

The easiest strategy to me is to go with two proven rucks. Gems can be found elsewhere.
