for a terrible year 85 without Hmac aint bad and a 6 point gain on his price

Goldstein averaged 79.1 last year compared to 99.3 in 2011, from a fantasy perspective something has gone terribly wrong for Goldstein and he is showing no signs of coming out of his fantasy slump.

Ill tell you why, 3 things one ive already mentioned that you glossed over

1) Hmac played more games
2) Everyone has a bad year due to form or ill confidence (Hmac may have done this to him by being the number 1 ruck early in the season before injury)
3) NM played a completely different style to other teams last year in handball happy. From watching them on friday night that has changed as it doesnt look like it will hold up in finals eg: eagles thumping)

You could be right. Pick him.

does Daw become a threat too from a purely athletic (natanui perspective) ticket selling, bum on seats type of player?

Im going with kruezer, I think he will have a cox like year, he is very mobile, strong and can take a mark and kick. will have some +6s as the blues will look for him. He runs around all day and will be a second half specialist

I'm really tempted to go against the grain and just start with Cox & Maric in the ruck and be done with it

not against the grain - reckon its a damm smart move

I had kreuzer early but do worry about his knee which has given him a lot of troubles. Didnt play yesterday..

Maybe people are looking at it the wrong way. Maybe Goldstein's great 2011 was the anomaly and not his bad 2012? It's happened before, Justin Sherman once came second in a b&f count.

I'd like to see what people (who are more informed than myself) have to say about Vardy from the Cats. Looked great in that round 23 game against Sydney last year, McIntosh and Simpson are injured, has potential, underpriced due to his one game last year- could he be a fantasy bargain in the ruck at 209k?

For those writing off Todd Goldstein. Consider his durability, and these stats (Exc finals):

2012 with McIntosh [5 games]: Av 60.5

2012 WITHOUT [14 games]: Av 87.5*

* If you take out his R22 game against Freo (definite outlier) of 24, his average increases to 92.

How do you justify taking out the score of 24? I am pretty sure he played the full game.

Why not take out the outlier score of 140?

Looking through rose coloured glasses could be your downfall. Just sayin.

I think the 24 against Freo was the game where he was crook as a dog, but forced to play due to lack of options. So, that may provide some justification.

i had goldstein last year - and i won't be going there again, i'll find some other way to shoot myself in the foot!

Yep young Vardy is definitely on my watchlist as a potential smokey.. will keep an eye out during NAB and see how well he plays with Trent West.

Actually would be interesting if Leuy isnt quite right to play Rnd 1, would throw a massive spanner in the works for all of us who's locked him in and thrown away the key.. will force teams to panic and re-jig their whole team! :p

One issue I do have with the rucks is the impact of the new ruck rule. I'm wondering if it will result in a major change in the stats for some of the more physical ruckman ?? Will be interesting to see the stats and projections out of the last few NAB Cup games..

will be interesting to see how it unfolds - with the ball being reintroduced back into play quicker it may favour the big tanked players...
