I want to stick by younger guys. Cox and Sandi are injury prone, have caused so much grief over the past few years. I'll not be touching either with a 10 foot pole.
Big call for Cox being injury prone. He's played 22 games the last three seasons...

Griffin looked good last night! Brad Scotts decision to only play one ruckman is making a Currie to Griffin swap looking more tempting for me

Could have. The only guy that I know is older off the top of me head started with the other vest on.

31 is not too old for a ruckman, especially one who generally rests in the forward line. How many times has Cox been subbed out since the sub rule came out? Get back to me when you get a clue.

Lycett would of been subbed for Embley, not Cox. We needed more run and if lecras and mckenzie werent injured it would have been Lycett with the red vest

Guys hes clearly trolling hard. Cox some have said has had his best PS yet and without NN or even with NN their is no chance he was going to be sub, i cant believe people are even trying to argue/discuss the point with someone who clearly has no idea or is an idiot or both.

Juggalo comes across as a foolish teenager who thinks anyone over 30 is really, really old and couldn't possibly have anything too offer since they're too old.

You guys do realise he said this year not this round?

Of course Cox is more likely to be subbed off during the year than he was last. He's a year older and West Coast plan to be playing deep into the finals, why wouldn't they consider resting an AA ruckman if they've got a match won and Naitanui playing? Certainly would not be surprised to see Cox either rested or subbed off a couple of times during the season myself should things be going to plan for West Coast.

With all due respect dylan, not every player is the same. Otherwise 47 year old Dustbin Fletcher would have been vest fodder for the last few years. Ruck is the one position on the ground where the older you are, the better. (injury permitting of course) but since Cox doesn't have any ailments that I know of, he should still be in his rucking prime this year.

He instead gets rested during the season having never played 22 games a season in his career.

You also have to consider exactly where the position of the team is and how they're going during the game as to whether they can afford to sub off someone like Cox. We saw teams like West Coast sub Kerr off twice during the season and Geelong also subbed of SJ once during last year as well if they're in the right position to do so. I only looked at Adelaide's subs last year but 50% of the orange vest players were given to players that had picked up an injury during the game, there would also be a decent chunk that get it for not doing anything at all. With all that being said, in the right situation I wouldn't be totally surprised to see someone like Cox getting a vest when they've got another AA ruckman in Naitanui on the list.

Again, the older you are, the more injury prone you are. Take a look at Sandilands over the past few years, do you think Freo have done him any favors trying to push him back or play him through his little injuries? Look back a year or two ago when they made the finals, he basically couldn't jump by the time they made their finals due to them pushing him through the season which was a big mistake imo. Had they rested him more during the season he could have been in far better shape for their match in the finals where he plays a huge part for the side (much like Cox).

Then take a look at teams who have been high up on the ladder for the past few years and how they rotate players during the season (Geelong or St.Kilda when they were at the top of the ladder). Again, it all comes down to player management and I can't see why West Coast wouldn't want to manage Cox a little more with him getting older and more prone to injuries (he has had a few over the past couple of years but has shown the ability to play through them).

I'm not saying I think he'll be vested during the year but it becomes more likely each year (and with West Coast getting better) and probably a better chance to be rested at some stage this season.

I'm not arguing that Cox wont be rested once, maybe even twice this year. I just don't see him as a vest candidate, especially since he's a dangerous forward whilst resting there. Comparing him to other older and or injury prone players doesn't make your argument valid, since some guys are more durable than others, even in old age. Sandi & Kerr are both poor comparisons in this instance.

Id say they are more likely to rest nicnat who has done a week if training over someone like cox who has had a superb ps
