This was the best part:

St Kilda also today launched the 2014 New Zealand Membership packages in a first for the AFL. NZ members can purchase an international supporters pack that includes a ticket to the 2014 ANZAC Day game and a range of access-all-areas digital and merchandise benefits.

"We're very ambitious for our plans in New Zealand and we aim to have 5,000 NZ members in the next three years," Pelchen said.

Sorry, mum, it's my big break

Joe Baker-Thomas received some good and bad news this week.
The good is the 17-year-old from Porirua is off to Melbourne next year as his international scholarship with AFL club St Kilda steps up a notch.
The bad is the flight date he has been given.
"I'm going on the first of February so I'm pretty rapt about that," said Baker-Thomas, a former rugby player and high jump star who was signed on his raw athletic potential in April. ....................

"My first game I actually threw a rugby pass, got called up, shocking, shocking"

No wonder they're saying he's come such a long way in 12 months... He was throwing the thing a year ago!

Seriously though that's pretty funny

The Saints are doing Christmas a little differently this year

We have a long-term partnership with the Saints and this is an extension of what is already a great relationship.
David Rogers, Challenge CEO

St Kilda Football Club staff and players have forgeone the traditional Kris Kringle gift exchange this Christmas in support of purchasing Christmas gifts to assist the club’s charity partner Challenge......

ST KILDA youngster Daniel Markworth has had a minor setback in his recovery from a knee reconstruction, undergoing an arthroscope to remove scar tissue.
The 21-year-old is expected to be out of action for two to three weeks after the minor surgery, which took place after the Saints returned from Colorado last week.
It is the second year running Markworth has injured the knee while on an overseas training venture.
He landed awkwardly on his reconstructed right knee when he came down from taking a mark and tried to turn quickly.

Don't think Schneids has any plans to retire soon.

"I've just got to get the body right. I haven't had much luck in the past two years with the body so I'm really out to redeem myself and make up for it because you never know when your career can be over.

"I'm going to make sure I go out giving everything I've got and hopefully get another year or two or three out of footy."

Oh yeah quite likely. But if he can stay on the field I reckon he's got a couple more seasons in him definitely.

Really critical that the fitness staff can replicate what Dave Mission did to manage injuries.

Anyone notice there was an article on afl.com about mark worthy knee but not on saints.com? Are they keeping it on the low-down, or did afl.com just blow up a nothing story?

Think they're just making a story out of nothing, Markworth tweeted it was planned and he should be back training soon.

Target on Jack's back, but star Saint 'can handle it'

ST KILDA is backing club champion Jack Steven to handle the pressure of being the No.1 target of opposition taggers as he looks to join the AFL's elite bracket in 2014.

His continued development during a flawless pre-season, however, has him well prepared for the challenge, according to midfield and stoppage coach Adam Kingsley.

"The intensity increased significantly this year in Colorado, and for him to do every single session without complaint from his body was a super result," Kingsley said.

"Last year he was awarded the best trainer, so that was something that really helped him through the course of the season.

"This year I think all the boys worked really well, but Jack again stood out with his intensity at training. He throws himself into everything and gives himself the best opportunity to get something out of it."
