Judd_Magic - hows the vino going;)

Was at a mates for dinner tonight Toxic and yep had a couple of bottles of vino out on the table. :thumbsu:

We had ravioli so it only made sense that I brought a couple of bottles of the red vino over. :p

Didn't really give supercoach much thought when I was over at my mates tonight as I'm pretty happy with this weeks trades Pittard > Thurlow and Stevenson > Hanley.

Going by the non response, one too many.;)

This could be his secret, red wine & just stabbing wildly at the trade buttons.

I refuse to live in a world that has Judd_Magic making sober thoughtful trades.:p

Hah! Doing it the way you just described isn't as fun these days with the reversable trade button feature! :D:thumbsdown:

I do come up with my most bizarre trade ideas once I've had a few vinos or beers but trading in the past while tipsy or full on intoxicated was just fraught with danger!

An example of this was a about 4 years ago I think in Taylor Walkers rookie year.

I had Walker and Trent Hentschel (injured) on my bench and was making my trades after one too many beers.

Well what do you think I did?

With eyesight so blurry I clicked on Taylor Walker accidentally instead of Hentschel and traded Walker out for Steele Sidebottom who was also in his rookie year.:thumbsdown:

Queue in and Taylor Walker comes out and smashes it with 133 sc that week.

I was kicking myself and thinking I'd traded out the Zorko of 2009. LOL! :p

Hey guys, bit of a newbs question but I just want to clarify with the trading during the byes are you allowed to make 3 trades for the first time after round 10 leading into round 11 or after round 11 leading into round 12? I assume it's after round 10 leading into round 11 but the supercoach site says "3 in multi-bye rounds 11, 12 and 13" which doesn't really make it clear whether it means before or after round 11.

Cheers for the help.

Allowed to make three trades heading into the Rd.11,12 and 13 bye. So once Rd.10 is complete, three trades are available for each of the next three weeks

Not sure if you're joking, but it's 18 during the 'Bye weeks'

well you are both actually right -you need to field a standard full team, 22 on the field, 8 reserves etc.

however it is the BEST 18 ON the field combined to give you your score for each of the bye weeks

Rd 11 - 9 out
Rd 12 - 9 out
Rd 13 - 12 out
But that too will change with the bye rounds providing a world of opportunity. LOL!

When you consider that only our best 18 scorers will count how you manage your team through the bye rounds will change significantly depending on your approach.

Those chasing overall will be trying to field 22 each week and are likely to do 3 trades to get the highest 18 scorers possible at the time. Which strategy for these guy's? 1 up, 1 down and 1 sideways? Strong teams >> 3 sideways? Heaven forbid, but likely in some cases me thinks! Essentially, this would mean the 3 lowest scores out of your 18 for the week in question would go from 3 x 60's to whatever. You would have 3 more players scoring 120+ each instead which would see you rocket up the rankings (especially if someone was to do this in R12 and R13). There are some ripper teams on here already so those chasing the $50k may well be tempted..... Juddy, being so high this may be worth considering. Just a thought.

Those chasing league (like myself) may not be so inclined to trade 3 / week unless the right options are there. 3 up or 1 down and 2 up trading to players who have already played their bye and I'm in. Maybe even 3 down to cash up for a spending spree (non performing spudguns or fully milked cows for instance). The idea of a sacrificial round with as many players out as possible may be likely for many chasing leagues rather than overall. Clearly there are many options and the choice is for each individual which is why this is such an intriguing game.

Anyway, it's funny what goes through your mind when you can't sleep.

I'm likely to stick with my tried and true strategy of just focussing on rolling Toxic when it counts!
No, Obese Arachnid, not in that way...;)

No trades left.

So I'm thinking rd 11, you want to set your side up now to only just scrape through with 18 players on the field. To have as many available players in Rds 12 and 13.

Interesting write up there Sir Skid. :thumbsu:

I'm not sure what I'm going to do in the bye rounds yet.

My team is pretty well placed in relation to the byes with round 13 being the worst one for me where nearly all my midfield will be missing. LOL!

I think at the moment I am 2 players short of having 18 on the ground for round 13.

Having 15 trades left I don't know if I really want to trade like a boss 3 times a round all through the round 11-13 byes cause I'll have no trades left.

I may do a couple of trades but nothing too drastic and I don't think its worth sideways trading any premiums just for the sake of getting a higher score in a bye round.

I doubt that alot of the teams in the top 100 are going to trade drastically during the bye rounds either becasue whats the point doing that only to have no trades left by round 15 and then injuries and players being rested start to hit?

I learnt a hard lesson last year only having 1 trade to survive on for the last 6 weeks. Obviously that turned to shit with Broughton and Franklins injuries and having non existant bench cover in Sexton and Crozier.

I will be focusing on trying to build my bench depth more than blowing 3 trades a week during the bye rounds. I will be alble to thank myself later for it. :thumbsu:

Heres my team at the moment anyways.

Is it worth bringing Goodes down to the mids for the byes or not really worth it?

Thoughts....

JM - your 100 ish - get rid of heath Shaw - maybe for Thurlow

turn Jones into watson or Nicnat

get aggressive Judd_Magic

I'd do it. It'll help drastically for bye rounds. I myself have Gibbs at midfield and plan to swap him for vlaustin come round 11 as I have a 4 round 11 defenders and only 1 round 11 midfielder in Cotchin. Maybe next week: Trade Jones or Crouch (depending if he gets a game)> Staker by moving Goodes to midfield?

Also I'm using only a few trades come bye rounds. Probably Terlich to Birchall or Hartlett and culling my round 13 rookies for premiums.

Can't do those trades Toxic cause if I do then I will be stauck with Luke Brown on the ground and Stevenson and Pittard on the bench.

Going Pittard > Thurlow and Stevenson > Hanley stiffens up my defence alot and means I don't have to play Luke Brown on the ground.

Also H.Shaw could be back next week and I was going to go Macaffer > Staker and M.Jones > Watson next week anyways.

What do you think mate? o_O

Was going to go Macaffer > Staker and Jones > Watson next week but if I did that then I don't know whose spot Goodes would take if I moved him down to the midfield.

Only spot I can see him taking is Crouches but he will be back next week.

Confussed now. LOL!

On second look you can do those trades. I don't see any problems with your team in terms of byes besides maybe round 13 mids but that's everyone's problem. How many players can you field for round 11, 12 and 13? If you have 16-18 players playing you should do the Watson trade and just manage those 1 or 2 donuts as that bye round comes along!

trades sound good and smart - but heater will be Bryce Shaw next week if u get my drift

Is anyone else salivating at the prospect of picking up Birchall after his round 11 bye and then JPK after his round 12 bye? Can't wait for it! Bring on the byes :p

Terlich -> Birchall
JOM -> JPK

I hate the byes.

I wish they could have handled sc differently around them.

Still don't think the solution they came up with this year in sc to combat the byes is the right one.
Agreed. Start leagues in round 1 for starters. That'll reward people researching and making correct calls instead of jumping on the bandwagon.

When's team has a bye, whatever players you have from that team, you get their average score. That'd be simple.

Or.. Have a three week lockout.. You get the best score of each player over the 3 weeks and take the 20 best scores..

Or.. Bring back the split round..

Dunno, gotta be a better way..

Cheers - god damm that screws me like John Holmes
Not really. DPPs only help if your missing say 3 MID and 1 FWD. if you're missing 3 MID and 2 FWD, DPP allows you to shift chairs on the titanic ;)

Birch definitely. Hopefully he's rested soon as we'll. Straight upgrade from Terlich.
