trades sound good and smart - but heater will be Bryce Shaw next week if u get my drift
Doubtful. Trained the entire session on Fri without restriction, even trained back after. Bucks is sending a message.

Worked out a few trades in advance; Laird, Ward and Jaegermeister to be traded R12/13, leaving me with total of 20 players available Rd13 [14 guns, 4 mid pricers (Goodes, Vlastuin, Leuenberger, JJK), 2 rookies]!

My take on it;

Keep players you want to trade up until their bye, then trade to those who have had their bye, keeps the money in play,

I.e. MJones (rd12 bye) becomes Cotchin (rd 11 bye)

JJKennedy (rd 12 bye) becomes Martin (rd 11 bye)

OMeara (13) becomes JSelwood (12)

This is just my loose plans at this stage, so what about rd 11 byes?

Moloney (11) becomes Ablett (13), not ideal but gets the result I am after.

So team looks like what, with players having byes;

Start of rid 11;

rd11 - 8
rd12 - 10
rd13 - 12

I.e 22 players available,

To eventually be at start of rd 13;

rd11 - 12
rd12 - 10
rd13 - 8

Also, 22 players available.

That's how I am thinking at this stage, subject to injuries, suspensions, Shaw brain fades & other SC Hurdles......

Solid plan, but you do need to take into account positional restraints too..
Ie. my Rucks are made up of three rd12 players and one rd11. In other words, this brings my starting 22 to 21 for Rd12, since I can't get the required players on the field - its already one of 4 acceptable doughnuts.

It only counts your best 18 though.

Who are your rucks?

For sake of this, I'll assume one is Daw, trade before rd 12 to Roughhead who has had rd 11 bye(also DPP) - this is just an example of what I was saying as I don't know your team.

Daw - rookie cash cow

Roughhead - premo Ruc/fwd

It's still a horses for courses, combining who you have in your team, maximising your exposure for byes & getting ready for the run into finals with max number of quality premiums.

IMO - FWIW

I'll probably go into the byes with 150k and then:

Terlich -> Birchall/Hanley
O'Meara -> Kennedy
Gawn -> McBean (if I need extra cash)
Crouch -> Rookie (If a good rookie is available, if not I'll still have 21 players for round 13)

EDIT:

Round 11
19 available not including Dan Currie. This round will be tough to get through

Round 12
20 available after trading Terlich to Birchall/Hanley

Round 13
20-22 available not including Dan Currie. O'Meara -> Kennedy/other gun mid is locked in so I'd expect to have 21 players available & 22 if I can trade Crouch out too but that is a trade that probably won't improve my score and will only be done if there is a great rookie on the bubble.

I really like my setup for byes at the moment. Round 11 will be tough but if my team suffers more injuries during the next few weeks I should be able to change my structure slightly to avoid donuts. I have 3 mid-fwd line links in my team at the moment so that gives me plenty of trading options during the byes.

Most of all I'm looking forward to the challenge the byes present this year, last year they were pretty much a lost cause but this year with a sound strategy and a bit of luck it is not unreasonable to expect that you'll make it through the byes with a 'full' 18 man squad that is scoring quite well.

Been hearing the same that Shaw was training perfectly fine.

yep, was afterwards he pulled up sore apparently - will be interesting given our p155 poor performance

has anyone used a free online tool where you can enter your team and it will give you a list of how many zeros to expect in the bye rounds?

My strategy for the bye rounds: it's like pissing in the wind really, you just close your eyes and hope you don't get sprayed!

My old man told me to piss down wind. Doesn't mean my SC doesn't suck though.

My leg pants where always dry. I think there is something in that for everybody.:)

I've just read the bye rules again
The last one
"You'll not receive any points from players whose team/s have a bye, and don't play in any of the multi-bye rounds."
Is this just stating the obvious or I am missing something?

tooserious.net have this too, though you have to make an account first (free, and relatively quick and painless)

Edit: and to answer your question, I've used it. It seems to be accurate compared to my own spreadsheet I made after using that to plan my bye rounds.

:)

so ive uploaded my team to tooserious and it nicely lists the non-players in the bye rounds.

pretty easy to setup and handy to help forecast what to expect. i also plan to use it to help trade in the next few weeks. thanks!

Looking though my team.

Rd 11 gawn > gorrige pitty hes pricey but good cover if he stays in the team would rather nicholls though.
rd 11 might have to cull rampe early > hrovt or Kmartin need the cash.
rd 12 neade > franklin see how he goes this week forms only around the corner i think.
RD 13 brown/laird > rookie fwd sub staker to backs.
> should'nt plan trades will get disappointed :eek:.

Ha, wish I knew about this earlier. I spent 3 hours working out a trade scenario to get me through the byes on excel. If I don't get a single injury or rested player in the next 4 rounds I should be able to get 18/19/19 through the byes without sideways trading. It's mostly about getting rid of non-playing duds on the bench.
Looking at Leuy> NN and VIney>Ball this week
