2013 SC byes strategy

Do you still have Suban, Monfries & Gray or are you classing them as mid pricers?

PS how many doughnuts you copping this week?...that's a lot of Rd 11 bye player if you include the ones I've listed and you only have 2 forwards playing

In SC will end up with one donut i think (selections pending)
my trades this week are designed to having my team finished and filled with premiums by rd 15 with 7-9 trades left.
Monfries on my fwd bench, Goodes on my def bench, Mitchell and Kmart on my mid bench, Nicholls and special curry on my ruck bench.

luxury upgrades and injury cover only trades after that

No offence meant, but I'm amazed how you managed to get to your current 1k ranking with those spuds in your team.

Edit: your midfield is very strong.

I should have a 'complete' team by Rd13 with solid bench cover and 8 trades remaining. 6 for injuries and 2 luxury sideways trades.

firstly no offence taken!
edit: you vastly underestimate the power of the puppies
edit 2: buying at bargain basement price allows for extra upgrades elsewhere (Ellis, Kreuzer, Gray etc)
edit 3: I started with 6 rookie def , focused on points and durability in midfield where all the points hopefully were.

only 3 regrets so far -
regret 1 - trading in the Cokekid (Colquhoun) on a hunch - dumbest move since Relton.
regret 2 - wanted Stevie J - but chose to wait a week which then put him out of $$$$ reach till now
regret 3 - my bench choices for the first 4 weeks cost me over 600 points. (would be top 100 easily if had got these right - but everyone has these stories)

Imagine how high you'd be ranked if you had Ablett in your team from Rd1!

Mighty effort to be top 1k with no Ablett & SJ and a very weak defence. You did well with speculative sub-premo priced picks in Barlow & Hanneberry though while most of us were starting Wines & MJones etc.

i did start with GAJ - traded him out prior to his price drop in RD 3
I started with Wines as he was the rookie most likely to rise quickly
no GAJ has only burnt me once - i went MMurphy as captain one week, cost me 100 odd points that week.

You traded him out for a pissy 21k price drop? Hardly worth it as he's only dropped a further 38k since whilst averaging 135 from Rds 3-10.

was worth it - traded him out for someone who rose 60K so was a 100K win, I needed the cash, didn't cost me any points on the duo (in fact i gained points most weeks).

Either way he'll be back in Rd 14 and the puppies will embrace him fully

Was worried coming into the byes because I didn't plan for them at all. But by using 6 trades over the 3 byes my players missing should be 9, 9 and 9! These trades have/will all been/be upgrades or downgrades and have fitted in with the structure. Pretty happy with the players I will end up with. The byes haven't affected that to much.

R13 will be tough though. 7 players missing will be premos and mainly my gun MIDS like GAJ, Pendles, Watson etc....

Overall it looks like I should get through them with out to many issues!

So, the POD may not necessarily be just limited to who (midfield players) you take, but from what teams!

Haw -SMitchell

WBull -Griffen, Boyd

BLions - Redden, Rockliff

Other rd 12 bye teams;

Geel - Jelwood, Johnson

WCE - Selwood, Shuey, Masten

St.K - Montagna

Nth - Swallow

Melb - ahhm..........

These will be an interesting 2 weeks of trading boys....
