If you have staker in the forwards you could get a rookie fwd and sub staker to the backs.

you could if there were any fwd rookies available? T.Menzel with shaky JS seems to head the list

Thoughts on my "keeper" bench cover..
B: bGoodes/Thurlow
M: tMitchell/K=kMartin
R: Gawn/Nicholls
F: Macaffer/Staker

Going to choose between Nicholls and McBean this week - may need Nicholls to help with Rd12 byes, but that choice may come to bite me in the arse later in the year if Goldstein goes down.
I guess its hard to tell how the mids will perform, but both tMitch and kMart look the goods so far..
Good cover there TG. Mine will be exactly the same but Blicavs over Gawn. Im planning on coming out of the byes with only 6 or so trades but having a full premium starting 22(well, besides vlastuin who scores better then some premo's!!) and with good bench cover i'll be able to have the odd premo sit on the pine for a week or two with a suspension/rest/minor injury. This will allow me to use my last trades on doing a sideways with my premos to better performing players to further strengthen my line up heading into finals. Then once in finals(Sitting on top, undefeated, in my cash league by the length of the Flemington straight) i'll be able to trade out a premo with a tough game for another player who SHOULD score better against a weaker opposition. Eg-Rockliff(V-Geel @ Simmonds) to Ablett(V-GWS) the week of the GF

EDIT: Just an example, already have GAJ. Just making my point;)

Regardless of when they have the bye, what does everyone think of these guys.

K. Martin - 22yrs old looked confident on the weeked but every time i touch a collingwood player the they get injured or suspended. JS?
T. Nicholls - 7 tackles and 27 HO on the weekend whats he like when Dixons back?
T. Mitchell - 20yrs old, looks like he could hold his spot
N. Horvat - Probly has the best JS but he's young
B. Crouch - Is he still worth keeping? There's about 5 others in the SANFL that are looking like better.
S. Grimley -
G Gorringe -
M. Hutchings - Probly missed the boat

^^
I'll be getting one of Martin or Hrovat, and Nicholls (as long as he is selected this week, I assume he will be)

I think one of Nicholls or Gorringe (looks likely to be Nicholls) will play for the rest of season (even when Dixon is back)
Nicholls/Gorringe as main ruck, with Dixon and Day helping out in the ruck, but mainly upfront

Why?

Oxley from Collingwood might get a game soon, maybe even this week or the next..
Traded him in last week with this info in mind and to give me flex with Staker as a fwd/def.

AFL Free Agency, Trade, Draft & Season News
Collingwood this afternoon have announced that rookie Adam Oxley has been upgraded to the senior list, as Collingwood have put Dale Thomas on the long term injury list.

Oxley has been in outstanding form in the VFL, and is set to debut against the Dees on Queens Birthday on Monday.

Dual Position player (DEF, FWD) :thumbsu:

Perfect tag team partner for Staker!

Oxley could be a good downgrade option after his bye!

Think I'll wait for one of Thurlow, Dochery, Cokehoon to get another 1 or 2 of price rises before bringing in Oxley on the bubble. Will be ideal to have him switching with Stakerz if/when required. Would be awesome if he could cement a spot in Collingwood's starting 22. At only 96k #WINNING

Yeah but as usual with these rookies, job security will always be an issue.
If not he and Staker will be the perfect tag team!

Yeh for this reason I'm contemplating not downgrading Terlich next week, that way I will at least have a reliable D7 for the rest of the year.

Or chuck him in the fwd line while they fatten up then, put the pick of Ox/Staker in the backline as most fwd lines are complete.

I'd still want to see him named for a 3rd game before bringing him in. Pies have played a lot of rookies/first gamers this year. They won't all become locks for best 22 week in week out. Am starting to get low on trades, so any rookie I trade in from here on needs to have rock solid JS as I will no doubt need them to cover for a premo at some point during the final few rounds.

I don't think Oxley will get an extended run. Most likely get games when there is an opportunity to rest players or injury. IMO by the end of the season he'll play 3-5 games. Also, keep in mind we do have players coming back from injury who will increase competition and likely push out the younger players in the side atm. I'd like for Bennedy+Martin to get a solid run, but once guys like Beams, Young, Goldsack are back it's hard to see the younger guys keeping their spots cos it releases the likes of Sidebum, Blair to play more HFF roles.

But yes I entirely agree with you that JS is #1 from here on in. We don't have the luxury of trading cows in and out for cash generation anymore - well I don't, the rest of my trades will be going to prem upgrades with the treasure chest I have :D I may bring in one of Martin/Mitchell but I'm still weary of them. If anyone has more than 20 trades at this stage and has been able to maintain a top 5,000 rank then I applaud you! Very well coached.
