Congrats to ur boys Stanley - keeping the season alive!

Devil u still with us? Nice mid year recruit getting angel's brother from noosa - if word on the street is correct a cpl of season ending injuries for ur boys which is pretty nasty.

Kings look to be warming up - big game kings v devils.

Caloundra 2's look to have emerged from the pack as well.

Still here chunk it's been pretty quiet on here of late !! Yep we have had a couple of handy pick ups in the last 2 weeks and bring up a young fella for his first game and he played very well which was awesome to see!! Flowers has done his shoulder and is gone for the season which is a shame he was just fitting in and playing some good footy. but we are expecting a few back over the next month including our ruck man and our 2 best defenders . Massive game this week for us against the kings .. Bring Saturday and some fine weather so we can play some dry footy ..

GO DEVILS

Yeah had heard about flowers - believe mugsy may spend less time flossing after Saturday as well haha

We've had a cpl of blokes go down with acl's in what seem fairly innocent contests - amazingly the number of blokes who do them these days.

Alex, caloundra and yeronga all away before the week off - aflq can fixture!! Be a good guide of where both grades are at.

Devils v kings and Kedron v kenmore pretty big in the scheme of things this week

We've had 3 ACLs so far this year to regular senior players... all in about the first 6 weeks...

Expecting a tough match this weekend BOC?

yeah definately mustard - Alex at Alex is always a tough gig. they sit 2nd in the 2's and last year they got the better of us twice before we knocked them out in a semi final so would expect a tough game. Likewise in the seniors Alex and Robina have had some really good games the last cpl of years.

Cpl of times weve played at Alex there has been a putrid cross breeze that makes scoring difficult and a nice big ground for the fitter blokes to find space.

Mustard - what sort of knick is the ground in - has much rain fallen out Alex way?

mustard - as predicted a Cpl of tough games!!

having never played a senior final at this league internal expectations were never to go through undefeated - 9 weeks ago if u had asked us if we'd take being 8-1 there would be hesitation!

The Kings are the team to beat make no mistake about that. back to back flags, a quality game plan and know how to peak at the right time of the year - if there was a market posted right now to win the comp id have kings at $3, us at $4.50 and Yeronga at $5 - based on the teams we've played.
weve got another tough 2 away games before the bye that will really give us an indication of where we are at in both grades.

Was there a game between Alex & Robina reserves? Prior to a ball being bounced it would've been match of the round

Axel - spot on. Funny how some teams just match up well on others!

Footy1st - yeah mate robina won by about 8 goals - hopefully results up this morning. Good game - we just were more effective kicking with the wind - interested to hear mustard and Stanley's thoughts on both games.

We were quietly confident this week with our seniors showing some real signs late last week and were by no means surpised by the result. The reserves were also fairly competitive after quarter time but Robina seemed to have a more experienced lineup. Either way you look at it, it was a good win for the club and hopefully the results will start to swing our way.

I don't like to comment on other clubs but I have never seen a team absolutely capitulate the way that Robina did in the last quarter - very undisciplined. If teams can keep scoreboard pressure on them, there might be a few more similar results. As always, these are my views - not necessarily those of the club.

You might have seen the game a different way BOC?

mustard - as ive said a cpl of times u blokes have been there abouts the last month - and have always said that alex at alex is a tough trip. when ur 8-0 ur always going to be the hunted and your boys were well up for it - as per Viges comments on the aflq review perhaps our blokes werent 100% switched on. 2's was a good team win - anytime you travel to 2nd places home ground and get a 8 goal win your happy.

Thats a fair snipe considering you dont like to pot other teams! that said you blokes earnt the win - however might be worth mentioning to the coaching group though that yelling abuse at the opposition bench and support staff, crouch grabbing and telling us to s**k your d**ks etc probably wont be found under the winning graciously definition!!

I agree about your reserves, there are alot of natural looking footballers out there who I assume can't crack into the ones and good depth makes for a strong reserves side. I was only able to watch about half the game but was pretty impressed with the midfield pressure in particular.

I was referring more to the on-field performance when I was talking about capitulaton and I can't speak for any of the coaching group - I might not get picked next week.

Speaking of the aflq review, I found this comment intriguing:
“At times it felt like Alex had 20 players out there, which is very interesting.”
Can you shed any light, I'm sure it's all very harmless?

In saying this, I think Coorparoo and Robina are the teams to beat at the moment and it's a shame they wont meet again in the home and away season.

yeah mate the two's have a good mix of blokes probably the wrong side of 26 that cant get a game in the ones and some good young kids - fielding a div 4 team because of numbers so it makes a nice change from having to ring blokes on the way to a prelim final like we did last year.

couldnt tell you to be honest - he might have been speaking about your ability to run from behind the footy to create space..

I think the kings will only get strong - Morrision played 2's on the weekend... hopefully just getting some match fitness.

Burgess is a massive bloke!

Ha BOC can we use the Devils excuse and say we had 10 out? good game of footy but yeah i cant remember Alex Hills ever been gracious whilst winning games thats just a fact happens every year. But ah well we move on to next week and look for a better performance from the 1's! They def didnt play they way they would have liked! Couple of real tough games for us travelling to the Sunny coast this weekend will be another big test no doubt!

hahaha and whilst a free kick in either grade would have been handy lets not go down that path.

Once the ball is bounced its 22 on 22 and that stuff doesnt matter.

Yep 1's will need to be on their game early - panthers kicked 6 in the first qtr on the weekend and proved the difference against cab so will need a good start.

Mustard - any danger you could ask your boys to put the results up on aflq? I need to know how many goals in front theroopen is of me!

Forgive a few of us for maybe getting carried away lads, but it was definitely a season defining game, and considering you've been, I think it's fair to say, smashing everyone (minus coorparoo), but maybe it got a little out of hand. Mixed in with a bit you boys struggling with the score board not being tipped in your favour.

It also has to be said, you've tried to highlight obviously that the umpires were in Alex's favour, but then also appear to be taking the high road by saying but let's not go there, but you've already said your bit haha

Forget the umpires etc, we came with a good game plan and executed with precision to take the 4 points. Not all game plans are going to suit the oppositions happiness

Interesting stuff there!! no doubt the game plan worked and our boys got rolled that stuff happens id rather see the 1's drop one in round 9 then when it counts so at the end of the day great game of footy and we look forward to next week. It has highlighted the tightness at the top!

With regards to the umpires in the 2's game they were pathetic but thats 2's footy i guess so you cant ask for too much, i think just getting 2 umpires out there is a big effort these days haha.

I'd say the struggle to get umpires was highlighted by the 'interesting' decision robina made in selecting a goal umpire haha. I do think we had the rub of the green with the umpires, but the young lad definitely got one big decision wrong anyway.

Just shows it all does go both ways

Big dog - personally had said for a cpl of weeks that Alex were going to need a to beat a team above them to stay in the hunt and as ive said numerous times playing at ur ground is always a tough away game - taking nothing away from you blokes at all.

End of the day even the seniors in this league are playing a 3rd tier comp and everyone is entilted to think they should have had more free kicks then they did - or to say they had blokes out - ultimately you cant control it and we need to work on a number of things from the weekend including discipline.

Moro might like to confirm it but im tipping not one umpire in the history of the game has ever changed his decision, yet at every level in every league in australia each weekend blokes argue like its going to do them any favours!!

good luck with the rest of the year.

Haha BOC wanting to know how far behind you are. Probably not far enough, we needed a bit of class across half back so u might see a bit more time there if your numbers persist (not that I can actually enforce this). Would be amazing if by seasons end if the chunk and cho show filled the top 3 on the reserves goal kicking table. As for the umpires...... We can only ask of them is to do their best which is what most of us try to do on gameday but sometimes we all have an off day. When I left senior game I honestly did think the seniors were in for a hell of a battle to remain unbeaten, just didn't seem to have the same intensity and polish as previous matches. Alex always looked to be in it. As for the 2s was a good result but not a great game in my opinion, a real scrap with turnovers galore. Probably a day where the 2s are happy to take 4 points and move on to Caloundra and the 1s get a good reality check. (must be some new footys coming to Scottsdale drive too after the 50m penalties)

ok ok the cats out of the bag - the 1s lost on purpose to breathe some life back into the bigfooty forum!!

p.s will also see you guys resist qualifying blokes for the reserves by an extra week :)

theroopen yeah might buy shares in Rebel sport before the boys go shopping for tomorrow night!! you've still got 10 on me I think youve got me well covered... I do like how you worked your way out of the ruck on the weekend tho - good bloke making the 5'10 guys ruck while ur 6'3 frame stands in the goal square!!

I took one ruck contest and I'm a solid 5'11, lets not sell me short

Obviously struggling to buy footies down there on the beautiful Gold Coast after paying a few footies a week in wages to quite a few blokes

P.s. the tactical loss has obviously worked wonders for the forum then haha
