Sportingpulse has it recorded as a draw. Whether that is official, who knows.

Now we have UQ 2s on the same points as Ipswich 2s, even though they have won one less game. Not sure if the washout round screws Ipswich, or helps them. Probably hurts them in the 2s at this point.

Helps them. All 3 other teams in top 4 would've been penciled in for wins (no disrespect).

Therefore they technically play 1 extra game than all 3 of those teams and I'm sure will end up 2 points above someone at seasons end!

I believe the UQ v Coomera is down as a draw for the purposes of the ladder only. From a Coomera point of view we have no clarity on what is to happen from here. We have our opinions, other have theirs, but I'd hate to think we lose 2,4 or 6 points because of actions out of our control come seasons end.

Remember Calamvale and Coomera were both prepared to play in Rd 2. Hats off to Mighty and the leopards on this as he worked tirelessly from Friday afternoon through to 10am Saturday morning to keep us up to date and provide options would their ground indeed be closed.

I know UQ have just had their ground resowed or the like - no doubt some precious curator who thought he was manufacturing a surface for the next Lions match...

I just wanted to make sure everyone is clear from a Coomera AFC point of view. We are very disappointed at what occurred last week for numerous reasons and strongly believe we have been disadvantaged by the decision to cancel the game. We however wish to look forward to the upcoming fixture and remainder of the season and will continue to work with AFLQ and UQ on what we believe to be a fair result.

Prior to this we have always had a good relationship with UQ Redlions and once the issue is resolved wish to move past it and focus on the remainder of the 2013 season.

Rumour I have heard is its a final 4 now instead of 5, how do they change it when half the season is gone.
The email I received today had 4 weeks of finals for Div 3 which lends itself to having no change.

If there was only a Top 4 you would expect it to be Wk1- 1 v 2, 3 v 4 Wk 2- Loser 1&2 v Winner 3&4 Wk 3- Grand Final.

I may be wrong but looks like still Top 5.

Just spoke to longy and he said 1 and 2 have week one off and 3 and 4 play. Then 1 v 2 week 2. He got a email as well.

Definitely reduced to 4 for any league below Div 2!!

It is called Qld football finals fixtures Sweetie - never been logical as far as I can remember.

5 teams is a great setup. Not ideal in a 9 team comp but the top 5 are all going to be close and at least the top side is rewarded for finishing on top. Is this the first time a finals setup has been changed with less than half a season to go?

Wow I just rechecked the email (note to AFLQ- when sending out spreadsheets with multiple tabs let people know there is information on one of the other tabs. Normally there isn't!).

I am gobsmacked. No reward for finishing top now is there! Also wouldn't it make more sense to have 1 v 2 play first and then 3 v 4? So the reward for finishing towards the top of the ladder and then winning the final isn't having to back up the next week? Allowing the lower place teams the week to come and watch you before you play them?

Wow.

Big weekend, with 2 playing 4 and 3 playing 5.

Logan at home and in a bit of form could upset Beenleigh

Griffith Moorooka should be a tough test for Pine Rivers, who struggle away from home, only beating the botton 2 teams on the road.

Well yes I missed that spreadsheet too but wasn't aware that was what was happening for finals!! Thought the top 5 looked pretty confirmed now it's gonna be a fight for 3 and 4... Interesting... It's probably "too soon" but I see the low off the NSW coast is expected to head North by Friday... Forrecast models have 150 - 200mls between Saturday and Monday.... Mmmmmmm.........

Lucky UQ have a bye then...

its a shame that the aflq / sporting pulse website doesnt allow you to see the finals fixtures otherwise this wouldnt have been news to people.

have played in a final 4 system before but never with it taking place over 4 weeks. surely the first and second semifinal need to be played on the same day prelim the week after and gf the week after that.

should make for some ripping games though given the closeness in both grades.

Exactly and if we did that then guess what we could do on 10th August?! Replay the washed out round 2 which I'm sure now will be much more significant to a lot of teams! I'd hate to see someone miss out on a spot on percentage or by 2 points to Ipswich who will get the advantage of an extra game!

(Note- Ipswich this is not a dig at you so please refrain from your antics on the field that I am "always on Bigfooty bagging Ipswich")
