Haven't read through the others so sorry if I repeat anyone but I'm thinking:

B: Patfull, Merrett, Adcock
HB: Golby, Maguire, McGrath
C: Hanley, Rich, Redden
HF: Zorko, Brown, Bewick
F: Green, Cornelius, Staker
R: Luenberger, Rockliff, Black
I: Raines, Martin, Moloney
S: Harwood

Banfield/Polec/O'Brien/Bartlett could all come into the squad depending on form.

Here is my take. Its hard, so many players will miss out, IMO we are one of the deepest lists in the leauge.

FB: Golby, Merrett, Adcock
HB patful, Maguire, Hanley
C: Rockcliff , Rich, Redden
HF:Staker, Martin, Bewick
FF: Green, Brown, Zorko
R: Luenburger
F: Black, Raines
Inter: Beams, Moloney, Lester,
Sub: Harwood

Just missed out/ replacements
Lisle for staker 40/60
Polec/ yeo for Beams 40/60
Crisp for Harwood 35/65

Players who will take the next step have a future -
Docerty, Longer.

Need to show something very soon -
Cornileious, Bartlett, Obrien,

Not feeling -
Banfiled - green over took him, might be a confidence issue but he fumbles the ball
like no one else's business. Would not have cared if he was traded.

Special Mention -
Patty K - not sure what happened this year, he is my fave player, dont see a future with him at the club,
I think he will seek a trade at the end of next year due to huge potential/ little playing time. Could have
been a champion of the club, cant fit em all in though, still hope for a break out year.

Maybe Martin can play back and big Rog go up forward and have the train wreck in Brown playing deep and Lisle playing as a third tall. AFL Live here I come.

For the record here's mine:
Note: This is what I think will happen, not who will be there if they are fit. Realistically, it's hard to see too many youngsters breaking into the side without injuries. Hence I'll do two sides.

Best starting 22, assuming everyone's fit and ready to go:

B: Patfull, Merrett, Adcock
HB: Golby, Maguire, McGrath
C: Hanley, Rich, Redden
HF: Zorko, Brown, Karnezis
F: Polec, Cornelius, Staker
R: Leuenberger, Rockliff, Black
I: Raines, Martin, Moloney
S: Green

So obviously, a lot of players who showed the signs they were about to take the next step miss out. This includes Beams, Bewick, Lester, Polkinghorne, Yeo and Harwood.

Probable starting 22, what I think is going to happen come Thursday before Round 1:

B: Patfull, Merrett, Adcock
HB: Golby, Maguire, McGrath
C: Hanley, Rich, Redden
HF: Zorko, Brown, Bewick
F: Green, Cornelius, Lisle
R: Martin, Rockliff, Black
I: Raines, Beams, Moloney
S: Yeo

So main changes were:

Bewick for Karnezis: Inability to run out games.
Green for Polec: Same as above.
Martin for Leuenberger: I don't feel he'll be fit for Round 1, he's undertaking a modified pre-season.
Lisle for Staker: He'll be coming back from 2 knee reconstructions, they'll want to be cautious with him.
Beams comes in to take a spot, adding speed and Yeo gets the green vest.

B: Adcock, Merrett, Docherty
HB: Golby, Patfull, Maguire
C: Redden, Moloney, Hanley
HF: Rockliff, Brown, Zorko
F: McGrath, Lisle/Martin, Bewick
R: Leuenberger, Black, Rich
I: Beams, Raines, Green
S: Lester

Key:

bold = definite
blue = probable
red = new

I see Lisle and Martin in a pre-season face off to get the ruck/forward spot.

Assuming Lisle gets the gig in the seniors, the reserves may look something like:

B: Harwood, Clarke, Wrigley
HB: McKeever, Staker, Yeo
C: Newell, Karnezis, Polec
HF: Wearden, Michael, Cornelius
F: Banfield, Martin, O'Brien
R: Longer, Polkinghorne, Crisp
I: Bartlett,
S

Not sure if that offers any guide as to which type of players we might draft.

For me it does. I think there are a couple of issues, A genuine hard nut ball winner, pace all over the ground and key backs.

with martin in our club, where does this leave lisle? he has so much potential :(

Grim, I would have money on that side to beat the Demons. Seriously.

beams over harwood, though id rather beams in the 22

I think guys like Harwood, Golby and Bewick deserve their spots. All three were revelations playing in different positions throughout the year and I don't think that form can be overlooked despite new players coming in and injured players coming back. Despite that were all making a team without factoring injuries (which will happen) in.

I think it's fair to say Beams was terrific during the run he got toward the end of the year.

i do agree with those players and they do deserve spots though beams is ahead of them, except bewick as thrid tall i reckon that works amazzingly well

I completely agree that Beams had a very good run towards the end of the year, to say he was ahead of the others is debatable. I do agree that he has tremendous talent, the problem is where is there room for him next season?

Yank Cornelius, shuffle around the forward line to accommodate Rocky pushing forward and put Beams on the ball (replacing Rocky)? I know you like A-Corn, but perhaps pound-for-pound Beams would contribute more.

I can see your thinking but with that your just robbing peter to pay paul. For mine Rockliff is a midfielder who can go to the forward line and not the other way around (No zoolander quote intended). If you have the mentality that Cornelius should be replaced by a small why couldn't beams go forward? He almost single handedly won us the port adelaide game while playing there? I'm just thinking that he's still a year away (when black retires), so he can work on bulking up this year and playing more of the tough, bulldog-like ball winner in the middle.

Surprised at people leaving Polkinghorne out. Played 42 of the last 44 games. I think it would take a seriously bad pre-season for him to miss out on the team.

plays that HF role...staker coming back, and martin adding a tall option frward puts his place at risk. But he does do Vossys washing soyeah, prob a lock in at this stage

I'm a little surprised how many people have McGrath in our defence tbh.For mine he plays forward or he doesn't play. He played very when switched to the forward line, but before that he was average at best in defence. I'm hoping come round 1 his spot is taken by Docherty or Lester

I take so much pride that our group is developing great depth at most levels. Our additions during trade were fantastic and giving the additions of Leuenberger and Staker, 2013 is looking to be a very exciting season for the Lions. Looking forward from hopeful breakout seasons from Polec and Karnezis, as well as rejuvenating past form from our new trade recruits which adds good depth and development of our promising mids (not to mention another great season in Rich, Redden, Rockcliff, Raines, Black etc...) and adding assistance to Lisle honing his skills to become a strong forward weapon.
I may be fairly new to the scene of BF so I shall add my unprofessional opinion of our starting 22 at a later date. Can't wait to see who we draft! GO LIONS

Polec will have a good year next year and breakout in 2014
