The glass is half full though. Jack Steven had more than 10 Contested posessions in 10 consecutive games this year. A feat that Ball has not achieved in his entire career ( Neither has Lenny ). Add to that, Steven's pace and outside game is far more damaging. No rising stars for Jack, but he might just be creeping up there. One day Brian Taylor will learn his name.
This has been jabbing at me for a while.... did we pick the wrong Tom?
Gold Coast ruckman Tom Nicholls was one of the Suns' best in the loss to Richmond in Cairns, single handedly taking on the more experienced combination of Ivan Maric and Tyrone Vickery.
The 21-year-old racked up 18 touches, six marks and 25 hit-outs in 85 per cent game time.
If today's rumour of Buddy to Freo has any merit then you can probably take the #1 pick off GWS' table... I could only see them putting the right to draft Boyd up if they have Buddy locked away.
By the way the Buddy in Purple whisper was sent along with the rumoured Essendon sanctions (points for 2013 & 2014 gone, massive fine, six players banned for 2 years).

Just from a mate... take it all with a few table spoons of salt though. He's not the type to send around absolute made up rubbish but there's that much rumour & innuendo flying around at present...
It makes more sense to me that if Buddy was to shoot through it would be back to Perth. It would be for significantly less that what GWS can offer but he ends up at home, with a contender & close to his bum chum Wellingham.
The Essendon sanctions??? well I still reckon the AFL will flog them with a wet lettuce. A penalty like the one I mentioned would totally cripple them (wouldn't that be lovely!)... the lawsuits that the players banned would bring against the club could almost bankrupt them alone.
Not a lot of talk about our second pick. It is highly likely that Essendon will get their draft picks stripped and Adelaide obviously don't have a first rounder so we could get a Top 20 pick. Massive chance to get 2 elite players

Without including any Essendon penalties, as it stands we would have picks #3 and #22. (GWS and GC have compensation picks that they have activated for this draft). So this could improve by one if the Bombers lose a pick, but could worsen if Melb get any priority picks or if Hawthorn (or another club) get any compensation picks for free agents walking.

An absolute tragedy that they didn't strip Melbourne of picks this year due to tanking and GWS for failing to win a game and bringing the game into disrepute. Is it too late to still be agitating for both of these?
Guys who I think will slide to 21/22: Bontempelli, Kennedy-Harris ( ) and Hartung. I would also love to see the club take a serious look at Honeychurch. He's a very tough player, almost picked a fit with Dunstan . I don't mind the name either

Bontempelli - Please no more short talls. Kennedy-Harris - A small forward who can push through the midfield, Hartung - outside mid.
2nd round I'd be hoping to get, Sheed ( as if ) , Crouch, Dunstan, Freemand, Dumont or Jansen.

Yeah maybe, but I'm just worried that we'll end up with a field of elite ball users all hanging around outside the pack waiting for someone to handball it to them.
I am working on it, I had some pretty big time delays, but I expect to have the first round completed by Sunday. I have done the majority of picks, now just up to the descriptions.

As Strahany mentioned, Bontempelli is a very big mid rather than a very short tall. Hartung can play some time on the inside and Kennedy-Harris will take time, but the potential is definitely there. I would love some of those guys to slide, but I'm not overly sold on Jansen yet.

Yeah that's what I'm hoping for as well. Let's do a WC and say Sheed was an A-hole in every interview. So slow that it took him 10 minutes to just walk out the door as well. That should do it.

Yeah but we have players who can play inside a bit. Dal Santo/Montagna/Armitage types who will win a contested ball every now and again. I want someone who will run into the packs and come out with the ball and it doesn't matter if an opponents arms are still attached to it or not.
We need a Lenny Hayes/Chris Judd/Sam Mitchell/Jobe Watson/Joel Selwood.
