Could play another 3 years. Time for Milne to hang up the boots IMO.
He can't even get out on the park. May want to keep going, but the body is saying no unfortunately.

On the other hand, Milne has rarely missed a game through injury, and his body would be in much better shape than Schneiders'.

Pisses me off more that the farking mini-draft selections are yet another concession that is diluting the draft pool.
Pick 3 is essentially pick 6 now
What pisses me off is we didn't make a play for those players. You could have got top 2 draft pick "cheaper". But no club was prepared to take gamble on them except new clubs.

I got smashed on SS for suggesting trading Goddard to GWS when he wouldn't sign a contract extension in 2011 seeing as he would hit FA in 2012. I realise he may not have wanted to go to GWS but a 3 way deal involving us getting O'Meara and BJ going to a VIC club potentially could have been done.

Yep looking back we really should have done something like that. Could you imagine having OMeara in RW&B :(

We wouldn't be down the bottom.

I still think more likely than not we would be where we are but we would have an elite marquee player to base our rebuild around!

I haven't been so excited about trading and drafts ever, (I was living overseas when we got Reiwoldt and others so never went through that back then)!!

Stand to be corrected, but don't remember it as that at all. The concession picks were given in order that new clubs could use them in trading with existing clubs for current days players (before free agency).

GWS outsmarted the AFL and instead traded these concession picks for high level picks in the draft, giving them even better picks in that years draft.

St Kilda had no currency in prominent draft picks to trade for these concession picks, which other teams had and did use.

A bit like reminiscing over the girl in your class who went on to become a super model, or the house down the road that is now worth many many millions that you occasionally thought of buying. If you had no chance with the girl at any stage, nor could ever afford the house, irrespective of what it was worth then, this is a waste of time, as it was never going to happen.

thats how i remember it as well. GWS then tried to do a sneaky and offer up more to get omeara back. from memory it was more than one first rounder. both parties agreed to the trade but the AFL cracked the shits and told them no

so omeara had massive currency

beej to GWS i dont think was any chance of happening. mainly because i dont think beej was ever interested. i dont think he had it in him to move interstate to a young team that was going to cop some floggings. i think he wanted to join a side that was going to a) play finals and b) make a serious play to win the flag

the money and contract length came next. after that probably his mates

The Suns gave up 2 top 15 picks, one of them a top 3 pick, to get OMeara. We were never a chance, even if we did trade Beej. I'm more upset that we couldn't get a 12 month extension on his contract. Imagine him leaving this year and we come away with 2 top 5 picks!

The club obviously thought they could hold onto BJ for what they wanted. That's why we didn't trade him to GWS for Jagear. In the end of the day, the club never wanted Goddard to leave.
I was saying at the time we should have done a trade for Jagaer too.

Taylor Adams having a good game against the Dons, highlighted by TEN clearances late in the third qtr..

Can we turn a blind eye to his to his liking for the snow season, could be just a bum steer to turn other clubs off..!
Well you'd better tell the club that he likes the snow, they might not be aware of it ;)

Let's be honest, he's not the first nor will he be the last to love the snow...

Very true i don't think we should be saying this about a kid we don't know based on what someone said on big footy or heard someone say.
I'm sure we all have a story or two about Saints players.
I'd love to get Adams purely based on his football ability and hopefully he has grown up a bit since being in the system.

Couple of young blokes in the SANFL did ok today, Aish looks to be over his shoulder injury.
Battersby (Sturt)
21 touches, 2 clearances, 4 R50, 2 I50

Aish (Norwood)
23 touches, 3 goals, 4 R50, 2 I50

Dumont (Norwood)
18 touches, 4 clearances, 3 I50

Sharenberg (Glenelg)
10 touches, 1 I50, 3 R50

That play from Scharenburg is disappointing. As for Battersby, I would like the Saints to take him with our 3rd rounder if he is available (probably won't be). Outstanding kick of the football and he knows how to find it. Aish is Aish, a gun. Dumont is an interesting prospect. After Dunstan's running came under question, he is probably the 3rd best South Australian available (saying something with Aish and Scharenburg as the Top 2 both vying for #1 overall). I think out of all the first round prospects bar Aish, Dumont will have the most smooth transition to AFL football.

Patrick Cripps 34 touches, 12 marks, 6 I50 in the colts, i'm a bit gun shy on him after his brother wanted to head home.
One to keep an eye on Viv Michie 28 touches, 7 inside 50's cant break into the dockers side.

Yeah he seems to be rated highly. Was there no TAC U/18's this week?
Nah it was pretty much a bye for all teams, going back to play for school teams I think. As for Cripps, he has the body and toughness to be rated highly. The club might not want him after the Cripps (WCE) scenario though.

Agree. He really seems the player type we could go for, but someone who knows the full J Cripps story would need to be pretty sure he wasn't going to do the same.
