I would hopeto have Lewis Taylor available over Hartung. Taylor's foot skills would rival anyone in this year's crop and if he was 10cm taller he would be in top 5 contention in my opinion.

On Hartung, his work with the Stingrays has been top notch. He will probably run a 16.5 in the beep test at the end of the year, so with the interchange caps this could really help him. Apart from his kicking, I love Hartung's willingness to run both ways. There's always a slider in the draft and I'm certain that at least 2 players in my 20 will be available at our pick.
I love Taylor too, just ask ARR!!!

is there a way we can get another pick inside the top 20
I have been thinking the same thing and the only one l thought might make it , and l understand the heartache, is Armo to GWS for pick ten.
As much as l rate Armo l don't think he will ever be elite and the kid from Tassie with the funny name might be there around ten.

If Fisher get's his foot right and injury free could be another to get us a first rounder for a side in the running for a Premiership. I think they'll both stay though.
For Fisher, we should probably expect a deal similar to Lake's. Say GWS want him, we'd be trading 21 to 12. I would do that trade, but would GWS?

thank christ we didnt get that mitch brown trade done last year. one excellent bi-product of our interest is that wce have almost been forced to play him. atleast now we know what he is like at AFL level in a half decent side in a very decent back 6.

IMO he's stalled if not gone backwards and i dont think he has much more development left in him. he's slow and soft. on top of that can make some seriously average decisions. i think the lack of game time and his poor attitude over the years has affected his development

definite pass from me. i only hope trout and pelchen have managed to find another option

i reckon we could still get a trade like that done with either port or one of the victorian teams that are making a run for finals or a flag

someone like the pies, geelong, norf could do with fish

l just don;t think Dal or Chips would fit GWS age profile.
They'll get any veteran's that can still perform. Sheedy is just playing hard ball but Silvagni know's what will happen. They are delusional if they think that guys like Cotchin/Steven/Fyfe will end up in orange.

The article on the back page of the HS a couple of days ago suggested that GWS have put pick one on the table for Dane Swan (who is the same age as Dal and Joey) so if that's true I don't see why they wouldn't be willing to offer up 10 or 20 for one of Dal or Joey, for instance, especially since either of them would be a good chance of playing for longer than Swan (who has previously spoken about retiring as soon as the end of next year).

They are also after "tall running players" and Gilbo played by far his best footy when SOS was coaching our backline (came 3rd in our B&F in 2010) so they may also be very interested in him as well, depending on how they go at attracting mature talent this year.

If GWS are after tall runing defenders maybe they'll pick Scharenberg, with Melbourne picking Aish leaving Boyd to us
SOS has stated that they will draft best available with pick 1 if they keep it, so I doubt they'll be picking for needs with a pick that high.

If they really don't want Boyd it would make little sense for them to not trade the pick for the best offer they get from one of the other teams that has a very high pick that they are willing to trade.

That way, they get someone like Aish, Kelly, Scharanberg, Billings (who would suit them perfectly with his abilities up forward, where they don't have much except for their "talls"), plus someone/something else that benefits their team, rather than just drafting one of them with pick 1 and getting nothing else with them.

It seems pretty much certain that whoever has pick 1 will draft Boyd.

That's what happened early on in my mock draft, but Boyd is just a gun. Trading Patton will net them more than trading another flanker or mid.
I haven't seen Boyd play, but is he that much of a talent that Melbourne of GWS would take him regardless of position?

The Giants have Cameron (best young forward in the league imo) and Patton, Melbourne have Hogan (rated almost as highly as Boyd apparently) plus Clark and Dawes who are both only 25. Neither of them are crying out for a key forward, if they are picking for need logically Boyd should fall to us.

l don't think they will trade pick 1 for a player and a pick, they need to cut their list

Yeah true... no wonder they aren't afraid to trade away their pick.

Anyway I think we will finish above the Dogs so the chances of us getting Boyd without trading a valuable asset are slim.
With the run home of both clubs, its a very very slim chance, that we would finish above Bulldogs. We will either finish 16th or 17th, depending if Melbourne wins 1, 2 or 3 of their possible wins of their remaining games.

No chance we will finish below Melbourne surely.

Fixture is tougher than I thought in my head, but I reckon we are a good chance of beating Brisbane and Gold Coast. Dogs only win will be Melbourne. Probably most likely we'll finish 16th then I guess with 15th and outside chance.

If we play 4 quarters of what we played like in the second half yesterday we could win the game against the Suns at Etihad IMO.
