No chance we will finish below Melbourne surely.

Fixture is tougher than I thought in my head, but I reckon we are a good chance of beating Brisbane and Gold Coast. Dogs only win will be Melbourne. Probably most likely we'll finish 16th then I guess with 15th and outside chance.
Bulldogs have West Coast, Sydney, Carlton, Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne
Saints have Geelong, Brisbane, Hawthorn, Sydney, Gold Coast, Fremantle
MELBOURNE have North Melbourne, GWS, Gold Coast, Fremantle, Adelaide, Western Bulldogs

Saints a super tough run home With Watters desire to play more kids unlikely we will any of these matches.

Bulldogs unlikely to win any except Melbourne game. Melbourne likely to win against GWS and possibly against Bulldogs.

That means if Melbourne beats GWS in a fortnight, it will come down to the last round whether we finish 16th or 17th. Yes we could finish below Melbourne.

If we play 4 quarters of what we played like in the second half yesterday we could win the game against the Suns at Etihad IMO.

WE could, but one of the traits of playing younger players is inconsistency. It is highly unlikely we can turn that intensity on, for four quarters.

How would we go at trading Reiwoldt to the suns for Rory Thompson.
Sam fisher & draft pick to crows for Rory Slone.
Dal & Gilbert to giants for pick 1 or Patton.

Gives us a KPD, KPF & Tough gun Mid that will be around for our next crack at finals.
Don't waste any trades on Mitch Brown get more Kids.

With all respect there would be a riot. Lets NOT rush to copy Melbourne, shall we.

We would be losing some of the clubs greats, Nic and fish would be going home so would understand and be having one last crack at it, won't hurt us as we won't be pushing for at least 3 more years, dal and Gilbert will be giving us our next Riewoldt with out the goal kicking yips.

Saints will not consider trading our captain and the seven time B&F Winner. Roo would probably currently be in the top two of this years (with Montagna).

this isnt the slave trade where clubs can just trade players like they are meat. the players have to agree to the trade. i cannot see roo wanting to return to the gold coast. i cannot see dal wanting to move interstate to GWS for a couple of seasons

Come on boys, don't be too harsh on SSS, we don't know much about him/her, he/she could be a young kid so go easy.
I'll have a go at answering the post and suggestions.
SSS, footy clubs are built on a culture of mate ship and loyalty, which engendered with hard work, smart recruiting and great leadership, hopefully leads to long term success on and off the field.
It would be very short sighted for the club to do what you have suggested, mainly because the people you suggested are the main drivers of our culture and the things I have mentioned. Clubs need role models for the young talent coming though, just as Aaron Hamil, Nathan Burke, Robert Harvey and Max Hudgeton provided to our current late 20's players.
We also have no 100-200 game players on our list, so if we tip these guys out, we are stuffed for a lot longer than what it will take if we keep them, even minus any draft picks that would result with their departure.

.
I don't think those players have much currency.

But yeah, it would be easy for Tom Lee to stand in the forward line with Beau Maister, thinking , I'm clearly the best forward here, so basically I just need to wait for the ball to come to me.
Just being on the same ground as Riewoldt shows him how much more work he needs to do just to be like this 30 year old.
Same with Lenny, same with Fisher.
The young guys are in and out of the team. They can get themselves a permanent spot. Easy, just win more of the ball than the old brigade.
Against Port , Webster and Saunders had 6 contested possessions, but of the older players that only put them ahead of Farren Ray. It would have put them ahead of Polo, Peake or Eddy most games. ( In fact I wouldn't mind if Ray was dropped on the back of that performance ). Those players are gone for a reason.

It's my belief that this is a fundamental error Melbourne made.

I'm no longer in the camp offering Macca up for trade, we have a player who at 23 could develop into a very handy forward/ruckman/utility..

Hickey will be our no 1 ruckman, with Pierce learning the trade at Sandy for a few more years..

I'm now leaning towards some sort of trade with Stanley & Gwilt for GWS's pick 10 & their third pick possibly..??

We're going to have to raid GWS & GC, if we're chasing young talent with a few years under their belt in the AFL..
For some reason young players who come through the TAC, seem more likely to have a greater impact in their early years at an AFL club than players who've come through the W.A/S.A system's..IMO

The development is always top notch in the TAC system. South Australia has to be second, especially with the depth of talent. TAC Cup football in itself is a much higher level than WAFL/SANFL colts in my opinion. Heck, I'd say APS footy could match the level of the Colts/U18 in other states. I don't mean to be disrespectful, but Victoria with the greater focus on footy always produces higher level footballers. However, the top end talent is always there for WA and SA.

Just read article about Mitch Brown. We need to make a play for him and Nathan. Would b awesome Kpd spine.

What would it take to get both

N.Brown for Stanley & pick 2nd round downgrade?

M.Brown for free if possible otherwise 3rd rounder?

Think we need to go hard for these 2 as both want to play together. Collingwood need a ruck/fwd. They would love Stanley.
