In-form defender Joel Tippett on Adelaide Crows' radar
ADELAIDE is considering resurrecting the Tippett name at West Lakes as one of several AFL clubs keeping a close eye on Kurt's younger brother, Joel, who is starring in the SANFL.
Crows coach Brenton Sanderson wants more key defenders.
In 18 months with West Adelaide after being cut by two AFL clubs, Joel has developed into the competition's premier defender and one of the hottest mature-age draft prospects around.
Despite Kurt's public exit last year, list manager David Noble told
The Advertiser that 24-year-old Joel was being considered.
But he said there would be issues to work through, he had not spoken to Joel this year and the club was a long way from making a decision.
"We've talked about him, and with the form that he's in for a second year he's been really solid and you'd be silly not to have him on your radar,'' Noble said.
"There are issues you would have to talk about but if you're asking me from a talent perspective is he on the radar, yes. I know he is on several clubs' radar.
"His form is doing the talking and it demands you have him in the group of what your needs are. But it's only early and how far you progress with that is for discussion later in the year.''
