I hope he signs the deal. He isn't the player we need, he would get destroyed by real power forwards.
Like Gwilt, Fisher and Dempster already are?
I think I'd much prefer having those 3 freed up to play the role they play best, and that is coming over the top as 3rd man up. They made Zac Dawson look solid, they'll make Mitch look like a brick wall.
A better, reasonably priced, readymade KPD option you will not find.

Karl Langdon was the one reporting he'd signed right? Hope BJ's getting some solid rounds in at Perth GC :)

He doesn't need to be the long term answer, we just need an answer if we intend to compete next year. If we had him this year and last we would be much higher up the ladder and played finals respectively.

I read the other day he is delaying until Te end of the year. The eagles just playing the game as they should.

I know for a fact that Mitch Brown has only been offered a contract and is unlikely to still be an Eagle after the trade period. Take from that what you like.

We don't even know if Fisher can go another full season, and if he's not playing our next best bets are Gwilt, Simpkin and Dempster.

We don't have a whole lot of options to fit our criteria (tall, cheap, proven at AFL level, experienced etc.). I wouldn't be against giving Brown are saints jumper. We're getting dominated by key forwards every week. It can't get any worse in that department, and even if we can just use Brown to free up Gwilt to use his elite kicking to rebound out of defense, then that's a win in my opinion.

If we can get someone better, then i'll be ecstatic but i'd rather get Brown then no one, to be honest.

I have other players in front of Brown who i prefer we target, but the reality is 95% of players remain at their club if required..

Due to the lack of options, M.Brown has to be seriously looked at..

We can't head into next year with a lack of KD's again..

Therefore if Brown's available & we don't pay overs, i'd be satisfied if we land him..

We have two major holes in our defence for next year, so we have to recruit a minimum of two ready made KD's & hopefully we draft Darcy Gardiner in the interim..

Anybody got a list of GWS & GC players out of contract at the end of this season..?

In-form defender Joel Tippett on Adelaide Crows' radar

ADELAIDE is considering resurrecting the Tippett name at West Lakes as one of several AFL clubs keeping a close eye on Kurt's younger brother, Joel, who is starring in the SANFL.
Crows coach Brenton Sanderson wants more key defenders.
In 18 months with West Adelaide after being cut by two AFL clubs, Joel has developed into the competition's premier defender and one of the hottest mature-age draft prospects around.
Despite Kurt's public exit last year, list manager David Noble told The Advertiser that 24-year-old Joel was being considered.
But he said there would be issues to work through, he had not spoken to Joel this year and the club was a long way from making a decision.
"We've talked about him, and with the form that he's in for a second year he's been really solid and you'd be silly not to have him on your radar,'' Noble said.
"There are issues you would have to talk about but if you're asking me from a talent perspective is he on the radar, yes. I know he is on several clubs' radar.
"His form is doing the talking and it demands you have him in the group of what your needs are. But it's only early and how far you progress with that is for discussion later in the year.''

In other news, Dal's article in the Age has made it clearer now more than ever that we should retain him at the end of the year, even if other clubs come calling. He wants to stay, and we should reward that loyalty :thumbsu:
So who are willing to part with, to improve our position in this years draft..??

And if we're chasing a couple of ready to go KD's, once again we might have to trade a player/s or pick/s.

Currently i see Rhys, Siposs, Gwilt & Gilbert as certainties i'd offer up..

With a question mark against Dal, & after reading his article i would like to retain him but..................

We're in a great position in this years draft. The best we've been in a long while.

If we're looking at any KPDs apart from maybe Frawley and Nathan Brown, Dal won't be a part of those deals. I have my doubts Melbourne and Collingwood respectively would be willing to give those two up anyway... And sending Dal to Melbourne is just cruel :p

Plenty of room in the salary cap, but let's keep it in perspective & exercise some restraint..!
No more throwing two good picks at fringe players, when they come at a fraction of the price 12 months later..!!

No point in getting Frawley who might be a free agent next year. I would rather go after Luke Delaney who is out of contract and could sign a deal for at least 2 years at St Kilda. He is only 24 and with Cam Delaney and Scott Thompson probably ahead of him, I think he wouldn't mind a move.

Luke Delaney for a 4th rd pick, Joel Tippett & another consistent state league KD are achievable without giving up too much via the rookie or PSD..

Will Gardiner be around for our pick 21/22..??

I reckon Delaney will cost us a third rounder, he has been OK in the VFL according to some Roos fans. Getting 2 state league defenders + Tippett is too much, Tippett & Delaney will fill the hole.

I highly doubt it, I think GWS will take him with pick 11.
