Lions go hard in Hawks trade-off

BRISBANE is prepared to play hardball with Hawthorn by demanding the 2013 premier's first national draft selection in return for trading promising ruckman Billy Longer.

Lions list manager Rob Kerr yesterday said the minimum deal involving the uncontracted Longer was the Hawks' first pick, which at this stage could be No 19, pending free-agency compensation for Collingwood and Carlton.

"They (Hawthorn) have mentioned Shane Savage in discussions, but at the very least we want their first pick," Kerr said.
